  1. noice pink skirt KK (when did you get your hair bleached?)
  2. Sorry to hear that Jinta She was a beautiful wee girl
  3. Not sure of the why not? As in bone I dont want cut up? yep ;)
  4. Why not Sugar??? If it's a bone they can eat totally they will eat it regardless bit by bit. If it's a marrow bone - cutting it up only allows them access to the marrow inside - they still can't really eat a lot of the bone besides the joint bit.
  5. Cleo - everybody has differing opinions as to which food they think is best. All the BARFers will tell you to drop the dry food altogether and use a well balanced BARF diet. Others will tell you not to waste your money on expensive dry food - that the middle of the road ones are just as good. And others will say that dry food gives a dog all it needs and you shouldn't mix dry food with anything else. That about covers the main arguments ;)
  6. OH WOW what a huge change!!! He looked cute before.... but now he looks excellent!!
  7. Silent bear.... such a sad loss
  8. Sorry to hear that you are having problems with her :D In addition to all the stuff that the vet is helping you with - try strengthening her immune system with supplements. Vit C and Apple Cider Vinegar are probably a good start.
  9. I walk my dogs on the road - have never had to clip their nails... don't even own a clipper!!
  10. Oh Manon she was beautiful. Run free Chilly.
  11. Nah Jinta - Dentasticks are compressed rice cereal Don't know about their "obstructing ability" but they are different to greenies.
  12. As a treat in moderation McDonald's soft serve?? AWWWWWW come ON!!!! It's only once every 3 -4 weeks!!! :D :D :p And no they don't get diarrhoea from it. Its part of the Blacklab Barf diet
  13. The Billinghurst BARF diet does recommend a starchy meal once a fortnight. ie cooked grain of some sort. That's really it though as far as cereal is concerned. I love my vet.... he supports the BARF diet and prescribes homeopathics
  14. Yes they tend to in humans too!! :D But I imagine that the digestive process allows for some digestion and therefore gaining of nutrients. I give them to my dogs only when I am doing the "lazy Barf veges" and cooking a combination of raw and frozen veges for them. Ideally I pulverise the raw ones... but sometimes it just is so much effort... and I would prefer to give cooked veges than none at all! *Gotta hate cleaning that bloody food processor!!!*
  15. Is there a problem with corn off the cob?? (as part of the vege mix?)
  16. I have been using ACV in the washing machine..... to clean between washes. Is that wrong?? Should it be white instead The ACV I use is "Cornwells" and according to them is free from preservatives, colour and flavour. I should switch to the good stuff for the puppies.
  17. Sas considering my local Coles and Woolworths has SEVERAL brands of both Apple Cider Vinegar and White Vinegar and brown vinegar.... plus some more refined organic ACV in the health food seciont...... I think you may be looking in the wrong spot!!! I just can't imagine that a supermarket wouldn't sell vinegar! ACV will generally be near the salad dressings/sauce section. I get a large 2 litre bottle of it cause I use it for cleaning as well as adding to the dogs meals. I agree the healthfood shop one is probably better... but it's expensive too!!
  18. Raz is an absolute expert on this subject. She regularly strips two rough JRTs for the showring. Send her a PM.
  19. My bro reckons that Tbone follows the cat around waiting for another treat to be deposited... and that he sees the cat as some sort of treat dispenser (my bro is really warped - truly! unlike my good self )
  20. Chris - I am sure you will find a behaviourist/specialist trainer for cheaper than that!! Sounds like there are a few issues there - but I will leave all the advice up to the experts on here. I also had a fairly "overactive" labrador (although I have never had authority problems with him due to our extensive obedience training). I did find that he calmed down somewhat on a natural diet. If you want to research BARF diet on here you can use the search facility. There is a belief that the preservatives etc in mass produced pet food can contribute to some dog's hyperactivity.
