  1. If you wanna know what white tripe looks like... try the pieces of "crab" in Crab Salad - its also known as "seafood extender". Nothing but flavoured, coloured tripe. :D
  2. It's just an erection, for heaven's sake jdb,he probably did get a shock...and would've been a bit uncomfortable.your family need some training on how best to manage him, so this doesn't become a habit . It is not ideal behaviour. he needs a check-up as well, and maybe something to assist with re-training.He is a teenager, and needs to know his boundaries!! Maybe you are underestimating my purity ????
  3. Yeah and make sure the pillow isn't yours.... and make sure it has a washable cover
  4. Hon are you meaning "meat and two vege?" It sounds as though his two vege have already been removed. You can say the word PENIS on this forum.... and the word VOMIT too if you want Edited to add - I don't know if what he did is normal...never seen it myself.
  5. Why don't you find out who does your breeder's dogs and then go have some lessons from that person? If you really want to show this dog you can't give up this easily. Believe me there will be bigger hurdles to overcome than this!!! Showing is a tough hobby. You will have to be persistent in finding someone to teach you how.
  6. Yeah I am sure all dogs would LOVE cooked bones... but they are dangerous to dogs as they splinter and can cause perforations of your puppies intestine or stomach (and ultimately death). Cooking bones alters their texture and makes them unsafe to give dogs and cats. Yes I know that some dogs have been given cooked bones for years without problem.... but most of us just see the risk as being far too high. Be careful with that new precious pup of yours
  7. no Tabacco, yeast or hops?? Tbone is gonna be crushed.. he loves a cold one and a cigar at the end of a hard day
  8. We are advised to keep our pups on our own property until ten days after their 12 week vaccination. Even that is no guarantee as you can have parvovirus living in your own soil. Parvo is an extremely hardy virus and will live in soil for years - and will live in the sand at the beach too.
  9. Poppy is very particular about which grass she blesses with her wee wees. She won't wee on lead unless she is really desperate. She will go all day at a show without weeing. She refuses to wee on command even though she MUST know what I mean (I still say toilet and praise her when I see her go and she is nearly one! ) Tbone on the other hand knows that "toilet" is a command that must be obeyed. He always manages to squeeze out a few drops just to humour me. :D
  10. We do have dental dinosaurs over here... my local pet shop (the no puppy pet shop that I buy stuff from ) has a really good range of nylabone stuff... and they have the dinosaurs. Thats the only place I have ever seen them though. My kids have never really been interested in them. It amazes me how interested my kids are in the OTHER dog's bone when the other dog has finished with it. They are housed separately but once Poppy has access to Tbone's old bone she think's its the best thing ever!!! Same if he can get into her enclosure and get her bone its like having a whole new one all over again!!
  11. Hey I know a dog that does that when under performance pressure.... huh KK???? :D ;)
  12. Hugs to you.... a tough day today. You were her best mate right up until the last moment....you repaid her for all those years of love
  13. Oh Sweety... what a sad story. Please don't apologise about the long post.. this is what this place is for! One day you might know why that pup came into your life and went so quickly... but for the time being don't feel guilty about your grief. Give yourself as much time as you need. Your big pup wouldn't want you feeling guilty about loving your new little one.. It sounds like you have had a lot going on in the past few months. Give yourself some time.
  14. I don't understand how the "Greenies" people can justify the price of those chews!!! They are just unbelievable!!!! A labbie sized one is about $4... times that by how ever many dogs you might own!!! I would prefer to buy a big $2 marrow bone cut into four - that keeps them happy for a long long time - lots of chewing and teeth cleaning... AND the benefit of marrow - which is excellent for their immune system.
  15. TBone has a nice Thermomaster Fleece coat - I usually only put it on him if he is not well - when he has had a cold or KC. Its a nice coat - looks like his dressing gown!! Poppy doesn't have one - she has such a full coat I don't know whether she will need one. My dogs sometimes have to stay outside until late at night (both have warm beds) so I will probably relent and get her a one soon!!! I am making some PJs for MLP cause she will really need them!! You can actually buy patterns for full length dog PJs at Spotlight!!!!!!
  16. I put a "dash' in the dogs water bowl. They don't seem to mind it but will choose water without it if they can. I just put it in all their bowls I also use it to rinse them with before a show - helps get rid of scurfy stuff and makes them SO shiny. I also fill my washing machine with water and add half a cup - let it sit for a while to remove the soap scum. I put it on mozzie bites to stop them itching too.
  17. There have been some reports of Frontline not working so well this season... that may be your problem!
  18. I don't think you need to go to that extent yet!!! Your dog probably has a yeast infection of his feet - like althete's foot etc. Does he get his feet wet a lot? Dogs get a reaction to many of the purple coloured plants - check your garden for them - not purple flowers but the ones with waxy purple and green leaves. (like rhoeo). If you have these type plants in your garden you are best off just pulling them out. You can get Iodine in chemists and pet shops. In chemists is it Betadine.. in pet shops and produce stores - Quit Itch.
  19. I have read that the course of the virus can be 2 -3 weeks... I found that after the coughing was over Poppy in particular would cough when she pulled on the lead - some some residual airway irritation which was triggered by the pressure on her throat - she was only about 18 weeks when she got it.
  20. Yes I can totally empathise!!!! I had three cases of it back to back... one after the other in three dogs. One got better and the next one started with it... Thank goodness for using homeopathics as they all got over the acute stage of coughing within four days. All up though... we wouldn't have slept for nearly two weeks without using cough suppressant at night! Two of the dogs were vaccinated to C5... the other to C4. there are obviously plenty of strains out there not covered by C5... makes me wonder why we bother with the extra vaccination (more money for vets and pharmaceutical companies I guess). NB: the dog vaccinated to C4 actually was less ill than the other two.
  21. If your dog develops a secondary bacterial infection you may find that the course of the illness is longer and more severe. If your dogs are eating well and reasonably active then they should be okay. If the dog coughs up any sputum with viral KC it is usually clear/white frothy/pink (mild bloodstained from trauma of coughing to the delicate tissues of the airway). If a bacterial infection develops I would expect the dog to be less active and coughing up greenish sputum from lower down in the chest. (A KC cough is very "seal like" as it is only irritation of the upper airway.... a chest infection would be more of a moist cough "rattly" breathing etc). Of course - like anything - if you are in doubt see your vet. Kennel cough is the equivalent of a cold in a human being. It is viral and doesnt usually need treatment. The vets will tell you - course of KC with antibiotics? about two weeks.... course of KC without antibiotics?? 14 days
  22. Yep it does work to decrease the amount of coughing the dog does... I am not disputing that. But it does not change the effect of the virus on the body and the length of the illness. Panadol will take away your sinus pain when you have a head cold... but it doesn't cure the cold. Same thing. There are, however some natural remedies which work with the dogs immune system to fight the virus - and possibly shorten the course of the illness.
  23. NB Benadryl and other cough supressants don't cure kennel cough - they only treat the symptoms.
  24. Yep I have used same natural product as Kitkat... Drosera homeopathic. It shortened the course of the illness - didn't just treat the symptoms. I also used a cough suppressant at night time so we all could get some sleep!! If you do decide to take your dog to the vet - just ring ahead and let them know so you can come in the "back door" and not infect all the dogs in the waiting room. It is highly contangious - nose to nose contact will do it.
  25. How can I work out how to be two places at once??? I WANNA GO *stamps foot* :D I wanna see Kaden run.. and see Bronxies fluffy butt.... *sniff*
