  1. This is gree and worst lump as of yet treated with anti inflammatory and antibiotics
  2. Friend recently had one puppy in a litter diagnosed with "cellulitis" at vaccination site, kept puppy a bit longer but all OK and gone to new home was there broken skin or just a lump?, all the images i've seen show broken skin and sores. my guys don't even have a rash?
  3. no one has any cuts, sores, rashes or broken skin on or near the lumps. Nothing unusual under snout or neck. Just 1 lump back of neck. hoping the eliminates strangles.
  4. nope isolated to the back of the neck from what i tell start from base of the neck progressing up the neck. the largest now 2 and a half in goldball size a little squishy but not much. start pretty firm. not sore to touch, pups normal eating sleeping playing, no scratching. I didn't notice it at first cause he is super super thick fluffy. as i don't grab them by the scruff of the neck, but i did him to stop him getting into something he shouldn't and i grab the entire thing and he screamed, once i had let go he was fine. Didn't notice it friday when i was showing him to a family who had trouble deciding which they thought they wanted blue or green, I chose the blue for them due to independence and he is going to a uni student. green is sooky and hates being alone even for 20 mins, so he is going to a young family with an older dog. when of course this gets sorted. but we were picking him up cuddling, stroking his back from head to tail didn't notice anything. I am about to bath with medicated wash, I will post photos soon. and nothing added, poles were moved (trampoline frame) and wedged between a horizontal downpipe and wall that they were starting to get stuck between (too adventurous for their own good) but that was about 8 days ago. a new herbal conditioner but that was about 10 days ago, a new stuffed toy about 5 days ago, we have ants on the move at the moment but they been doing that for the past 4 weeks. tried chicken necks 7 days ago. sardines they've had multiple times. on advanced puppy since 3 weeks, (mum was very poor started weening at this stage) on boxing day could get advanced had royal canin for 3 days, been back on advanced over 7 days. I got no idea what else.

  6. just gone out and it turns out remaining puppies have pea size lump starting. that was my first thought but would usually show up with a few days not 2 weeks later i thought. Spoke to vet she said to divide up anti inflammatories among the worst and go in tomorrow first thing with everyone. A breeder friend said wasps, as we had 46.9 degrees here yesterday and we sitting on 40 at the moment. I was just concerned it is in the same area on every pup. and the growth is rapid, nothing to golf ball less then 24 hrs.
  7. Hi yesterday i noticed one of my 8 week old pups had a lump on his neck larger then a golf ball right where the chip and vac was done 2 weeks earlier. a trip to the vet, inflamed cells found but no evidence of puss or infection anti-inflammatory and precautionary antibiotics, it is obviously to soon to see much of a difference in him however 4 more have lumps in the same spot ranging from marble size to golf ball? any ideas?? .
  8. You need to read Steve's excellent post again. Do you have any idea how hard it is for some breeders to find good homes for their pups? We don't all breed cav's or golden's. Plenty of dodgy breeders on DOL eta the cav and goldie breeders also have to weed through potential homes, they just usually have a greater number of people interested in their breeds. Very true. I'm a goldie breeder and it took 2 weeks to find 8 really good homes could have sold another 8 by 3 weeks. Not they way I operate, I don't think I would have time to raise 2 litters at the same time nor the finances.
  9. Some ads I posted took ages to write, included temperament, price, health results and the registered name, and the pups were to be on a limited Dogs QLD (ANKC) register. and still spent an hour explaining it all before getting asked to take $200 off to not register them, This happened multiple times. I have no issues with people advertising I think if thats what needs to be done so be it. I advertise my litter shortly after whelp, I see them and I panic a little and feel a strong urge to make sure each has a home of their own. I also like to have time to get to know people. I give everyone of them weekly updates on what the pups have been upto and a bunch of pics. My buyers have said they loved this yes they had to wait 6 weeks but it was like they knew them when they came home. I have had people say the whole family gathers around the lap top at breakfast to see the pups. I encourage them all to visit multiple times if they like but I'm pretty far out so more then once doesn't usually happen. When the time comes for the pups to leave I am confident I've done the best I can for them. At the end of the day that is who you should be obligated to, not the market and not the image of a 'Breeder'. let the gossips talk, if you find your pups loving homes via a classified website who really cares. The only reason I don't is the volume of people inquiring, I get more then I need from DOL, often refer the buyers back to the site if mine are all on hold, but I caution them to ask questions as some can be a bit less then above board. If i had a lesser known breed with a smaller market I would have ads on very site that comes up when I type X puppies, or puppies for sale.
  10. about 95% i'd say, Last litter i had a 2 from dol how said they were coming out from bris, I live 2 and a half hours out and I'd call them back an hour after they were due and they said they went with someone close, i assume to embarrassed to let me know. And 1 that was chasing a boy for her breeding program but got very very grumpy and threatened legal action against my mentor when i spoke to my mentor and we decided that our lines didn't match the number of different ones she had. but those are the ones that get past emails. i get quite a few 1 contact emails which i copy and past all basic info including price and if they are interested they email or call back. Those people i don't mind it didn't take me 5 mins to respond to them. compared to a bout 2-3 calls daily from haggles or people who get annoyed when I tell them I won't sell them a dog they intend to breed. (I love caller Id). Another thing I noticed was even tho the price was stated not negotiable, they still thought they could try. The ones who used i won't have the money by that time o ffered to keep until they paid it off, but wasn't quite what they wanted. And kids or wives ring get all the details request emailed pictures then have to ask the husband or parents. This litter I have had about 10 one off emails, and 2 pull out after paying a deposit 1 because she didn't like not choosing and another breeder said it was her dog her right. and the other was just after 6 weeks of waiting due to a relationship breakdown, 2 days before xmas which was sad for them. he had booked the flight to tazzy to so he was way out of pocket and hasn't contacted me for his refund . I find a big difference with both litters is last was my maiden so i had nothing to show, I kept a girl from last litter and she is available with mum to view. Did you have people chasing a pup they could breed with to get height or speed in their pigging BA???
  11. to my post earlier I won't advertise anywhere else because a litter of 9 pups via c-section where mum is too tired or sore to toilet evry pup so for the first 3 weeks that becomes my job to ensure she feeds the and gets better, I spend hours talking to puppy buyers trying to find out what they want and trying to watch my litter grow to find out what they need in a family. I do not have the time to take 15 calls a day and spend an hour going over the temperament of my dogs and the tests that I have done to have some jerk start tellin me that they got there other dog $200 cheaper with no papers and they want the same deal!!!!!!! I don't give a stuff if that person goes to a petshop, I am raising 3 children under 10 my partner works away 2 out of 3 weeks and I raise a very nice litter (my mentor told me so, and that she was happy she took a chance on me ) Best compliment one could ask for. I don't have time to deal with those people. Anyone serious about wanting to know about my dogs and what I do I have hours for. I don't breed for backyarders and their quick buck, I don't breed to throw a couple cheap off register, And I'm not sorry about trying to prevent my time getting wasted when I have little of it. If that means avoiding Norwegian owned gumtree, or some other country's site then so be it. I believe if another breeder wants to then . But I have a very easy breed to home and it is not needed so won't be done. Besides it is easy enough to find DOL, google puppies for sale and it comes up, If i have some available my number is seen, they don't have to put in some stupid code to see it.
  12. It's a personal choice for each family, breeder too their prerogative if they wish to choose not to sell to a working household. The conversation started probably the wrong way, by saying it never works, that's been proven otherwise but that is because that is what those families wanted and were able to adjust their lives to accommodate. For Some this probably meant changing the time they spent at home more then not working, Some just don't have the choice to take time off for whatever reason, life is expensive. But they managed and are happy they put it the effort. Others are a 1 income family or work from home, retired/pensioners, took holidays or took their dogs to work. The point is whatever works is fine so long as it works, every stereo type has there lazy/neglectful owners. the saying you can't push Sh*t up hill maybe it should be You can push sh*t up hill, if your willing to try hard enough!
  13. + 1 had 20 emails and phone calls with 2 weeks sold all 8 of the 9, had to re-advertise one at 7 weeks took 3 hours for 5 people to call. My breed is very common so everyone on the waiting lists already had a puppy, and there are many good golden breeders out there so I'm glad people were able to find a good pet. But I'm also thankful to Dol for being a great site to advertise puppies. There is less freak outs on the price and no i'm looking for a boy for my girl or visa versa. I advertised my last litter on a couple of sites last time and there were a lot more time wasters who freak on the price, and backyard breeders expecting to have one of my pups to breed with their golden, poodle or cocker. they also try to negotiate, can i have it for less without papers cause they made that deal with breeder of their last dog. I tell them papers cost around the $40 for each pup so no i will not sell off the register. then I get the "for f*ck sake it just a dog as they hang up" I won't bother ever looking elsewhere to advertise other then Dol.
  14. This is what I did, this is what I learnt from my mentor and THIS SITE!!!!! I exchanged multiple emails and phone calls to all my buyers (weekly with their photo updates), I am happy with everyone of my choices except my previous litter, a gent who has a high profile job, just built their house in a prime location looking for a pet, wife was at home 90% of the time, Yet He was returned at 7 mths because he destroyed the pool wiring and ate the deck furniture, and dug hole to china and back. Why because the gent love the dog best he ever owned to quote but wife thought he was a little to rough with the cat,(cat never ran away) so she closed the glass door, and there he stayed looking in, until the gent got home and took him for a walk. Gent when he brought him said he and his wife were very excited, he came with his grown daughter to pick him up who said she would visit with her kelpie x boxer often. No alarm bells to be seen at first glance. He is Now is Sydney with 2 fantastic full time workers both teachers, young couple the enjoy every minute with him when they get home and weekends, plan to have kids in a year or 2 wanted him to have matured by the time the rug rat arrives. and Guess what He no longer needs a nose strap to go for a walk. He is an only dog there and hasn't dug since he got there????? How in those 2 situations was it best for him to be with someone at home??? This dog didn't need constant attention, he needed acceptance from his whole family and not have people dangled in front of him 24/7 who he only had partial contact with. Nothing to do with work situation. Each dog and each buyer needs to be assessed as they are and suited to each other.
  15. Maybe Jed shouldn't have said that we who disagree are 'special kind of people', nor with the topic subject, Jed doesn't seem too concerned about offending people? Jed may very well breed and raise great dogs and may very well be experienced, but also seems very narrow minded about this subject and doesn't seem to backwards about expressing a dislike to being explained how people have managed fine.
  16. before it was taken back i suppose they had kids at $5000 a pop, then of course the $700 - $800 per child family tax benefit in July, and the $1200 for 3 kids in a "single parent pension" then rent assistance per fortnight. owning a dog don't cost much $30 bag of dog food per month, vet visit once a year $150. a lead $15, a collar $10, council reg $70 approx, bucket for water $2 maybe needed to be replaced a few times a year $10. maybe a bag of bones each month $5, and bathing in flea and tick over the year $60. = $650 - $900 per year. This is how most dogs live. They don't spend $100 + per bag or feed or make it from scratch. Some times these dogs just sit in a yard as well. Not sayin it's good or bad, others who spend $1500+ per year on them may neglect the dogs in obedience or attention or whatever. OH BUT BY THE WAY someone who earns $150k per year may spend the exact same amount on a dog per year. It it Called Judging a book by it's cover and not knowing the full situation or circumstance. Maybe it hasn't worked out for you in the past because you didn't suit the dog and family right??????
  17. i Just homed my litter Golden retrievers. Arguably one of the most human orientated breed. 2 out of 9 will go to full time workers, and yes will spend 5 days out of 7 alone for 10 hours per day about 44- 46 weeks of the year. In other other times will enjoy walks, couch time, beach or bush walks on weekends, camping trips, family visits and visitors, obedience training, playing in the yard with humans. When assessed they were given confident independent pups whom more often away from most of the litter but are happy to be joining in the fun as well, very sociable and affectionate. I have multiple dogs yes but at any one time I can separate and have any one dog by themselves for hours in a day a couple of weeks at a time without destruction or howling. this occasionally has to be done to separate girls in season. They cope just fine. I am home most days but I may be busy all day and don't see my dogs for 8-10 hours, this includes the one that may be by it's self. what is your issue exactly? where is the problem with that?
  18. Presumably your pet is some sort of pristine creature that exists only in a bubble. No I am just polite enough not to have my animals jumping all over furniture meant for humans in a place other than my own, what sort of comment is that anyway! And Altho I have never taken my kids to a vet, if I did they would sit quietly and not touch other people animals unless they asked. However I have had my goldie there (at my feet) waiting for a Dna sample to be taken, and there was a person with 2 dogs on the seat one looked like it had mites and the other a excited male layin on it's gut. Anyway they go into the treatment room and a lady with her german shep pup come in and a 3 yr old child she heads to the counter and asked the little to go sit, she races over and before I had a chance to say not that seat she planted her hands and climbed up, and because i started to talk to her she got shy and put her hands in her mouth!!!!! The mother came over and looked at me and I told her what was on the seat 3 minutes before her daughter, Her asked me to hold her dog while she demanded the nurse take her at the back to clean her daughters hands with disinfectant! Which I would have done too it was down right disgusting. No i don't think some should have different treatment to others but that would mean no dog, clean behaved, dirty or sick should be on a seat.
  19. Just curious to those who think it is ok? Do you let your dogs jump on furniture of people you are visiting? I don't think dogs should be on seats in public places for all reasons mentioned here fur, skin infections, parvo, ect! Dogs should not be peeing on stuff inside either, that is just plain bad owner! Dog should be sitting at your feet, (on your lap for smaller dogs) Not at leads end wondering up to whom ever should walk past. It annoys the crap out of me to see a dog shedding, licking it's ass or worse a excited male with his penis out of it's sheath dragging all over the seat!!!!!! or a female is season or with leakage/discharge For frig sake yes it's the nurses job but she may not be ablt to get to cleaning the seat after a dog sat on before the next human does. Kids often go to the vets too, the usually have to place their hands on the seat to climb up, then where does that hand go!!!!! in their mouths again Seriously curiosity and manners just don't exist anymore.
