  1. Can't comment on the metal crates, but i've bought a soft crate from all pet homes, as well as a wooden rabbit hutch. Both products are very well made and have stood the test of the time. The crate has survived two rowdy puppies.
  2. amazing photos! sighhh...i want an aussie!!!! OH would never let me get a 3rd dog
  3. My two were the same. Tried heel training and even choke chains without much success. I went out and bought two sensible harnesses a few weeks back. The leash attached at the front so when they go to pull their bodies are turned in the opposite direction. It only took them one or two tries to figure out there was no point. I plan on getting them back to a normal flat lead sometime but the harnesses have been a great training tool for me No pulling at all anymore and we can all enjoy the walks.
  4. Would the pending payment be for you to register them with your council? You pay the vet to microchip them not to register them with council. They are both all ready council registered so it can't be that. According to the petadress microchip search website, Abbie's number can't be found in any of the databases. Will ring my vet today. It's very odd :S
  5. No, i tried yesterday afternoon but they're over east, so were long closed by the time i got home. Went to call today at work but i didn't bring any of the paperwork. Just thought something similar might have happened to someone rather than wait until tomorrow to call.
  6. I have my two dogs microchipped. Both were done at the same vet. We had to fill in a form and the nurse said she would send if off to petsafe and we would get a certificate from them in a few weeks. We got Buckleys certificate but i only just remembered the other day that we never received one for Abbie. I logged on to the petsafe website (using the details they gave me on Buckleys certificate) and saw a register a pet link. So i just did Abbie on my own using the microchip number the vet gave me. Whilst i was at it, i noticed that my last name was spelt wrong so i changed that. However, it now comes up saying both dogs details are pending payment of 18.50 for each pet. I was under the impression that i would not need to pay a thing seeing as i was charged by the vet :S Does anyone know what the deal with this is?
  7. Funny you say that, i was being a sticky beak in my local pets paradise store a few weeks ago. A young couple had just bought a rottiexkelpie and the guy asked where the pup had come from. The lady flat out told him that they source many of their dogs from puppy farms. My bf forced me out of the shop before i could hear any more.
  8. Great! Have just looked on your website. Do you only sell the sensible version? I was thinking the sensation just because of the padding. Don't want it to cut into my dogs underarms. I have an english pointer and staffy cross. Would it be best to measure them both and size them up on the softouch website and then let you know the sizes i need? Also, what do you charge in postage? Thanks
  9. I know they say that castration does not affect a dogs behaviour but i saw a completely change with my pup afterwards. Before he got the snip, his energy levels were FULL ON 24/7. He would have this uncontrollable 'zoomies' time of the day at about 6pm and just run around the house like a complete mad man for about half an hour. Since we got him fixed, he hasn't done this once and we haven't exercised him any more or less..
  10. Anyone know where i can buy a SENSE-ation dog harness? I can't seem to find them anywhere online or in any store. I am in Perth but happy to buy online. Their website say's they only ship to canada and america. I have emailed them but no response as yet. I know there are different brands around such as the easy walker, but i've heard the SENSE-ation and SENSE-ible are better quality, from a few different people.
  11. I have an English pointer and a RIdgie cross. Both are 7 months old and have been on BH for about 2 months. They primarily get kibble only, with dinner I also give them some mashed veggies and mince, chicken neck or kangaroo mince. Neither dog really have any flab to loose but the pointer struggles to maintain weight. Her ribs are quite visible but my vet has told me not to worry too much as they fill out as they get older. 3 cups a day each just seems to diminish the bag so quickly! I note that your two dogs are still really puppies at 7 months. Up to 6 months of age they should be getting twice the recommended adult rate for their weight, which if they were only 6 months & weighed 20 kilos, then they should be getting 3 cups a day, at least of adult kibble. They are both large breed dogs, so probably should stay on puppy rations for a little longer ie. 3 cups a day. When they become adults, then you would slowly reduce the amount you feed them. This is just how I read the instructions...I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. But I would imagine, it wouldn't matter what brand of food you gave them, with two large breed growing puppies you will go through the food. That's just logic IMO makes sense thanks for the advice

  13. Curious how long a 20kg bag lasts everyone? I've got two dogs, both weigh about 20kg. I was feeding them 2 cups a day each but increased this recently to 3 cups as they were looking too thin. A 20kg bag is now only lasting me about 3-4 weeks!! Just thinking it might be easier for me to start buying 2 bags at a time!
  14. I have a degree in marketing and am working full time in advertising at the moment so a switch to vet nursing is a big step but hopefully the right one for me! I haven't been able to get the idea of it out of my head since i finished highschool and i want to pursue it before i feel like it's too late, so to speak! Fingers crossed it's the right decision..
  15. i use Petcareshop. Postage is $4.95 Australia wide. They don't have a lot of stock but i use it to order all the dogs worming stuff. Works out so much cheaper than any prices i can find in stores.
  16. Awesome, wish I could have done something like that but now I am back working....... Received an email from Dogswest yesterday telling me they are looking for a part time receptionist, cant see anything on their website like the last job so if anyone is interested, PM me and I will forward you a copy of the email Have just PM'd you
  17. got into a vet nursing course for next year get to do a weeks worth of work experience before i start to make sure it's for me..very happpy and excited!
  18. Your pup reminds me a lot of mine, except my dogs head is not as broad.. We were told the mum was a staffy and the dad staffyxlabrador. But are told by everyone that he looks more staffyxridgeback. Not sure what i think..but i don't really care either as he's just a pet and a beautiful one at that.
  19. what a beautiful calendar! have ordered one and reposted your facebook link onto my wall
  20. Thanks everyone I feel much more reassured now. I've never seen this type of problem before and didn't realise it could be so common! It's very likely that she has bumped her head. My other dog is a staffy and they play rough as guts with each other. More often that not it involves Abbie being slammed into a wall or window! My Vet told me a hematoma should be gone within two weeks but i think I'll wait a another month and then make the decision about an x-ray if it's still there. It's odd..some days it's smaller and other days, back to original size..but it hasn't increased in size. Has absolutely no effect on her it would seem and i can press it really hard with no reaction from her. Interesting my vet suggested an x-ray..everyone else seems to have had an ultrasound as the first point of call..
  21. Looks almost identical Sway, except Abbie's is a little more rounded i guess. Here are some pictures..
  22. I have been feeding my two Black Hawk for about 2 months now. They love it and i love the price! Seems i get mine from a different WA supplier. I've been purchasing from Natural Paws in Southern River. The lady who owns the place, breeds Basenji's.
  23. Hi All I have a 7 month old female english pointer. We had had her for approx. a month now and i have noticed in this month since we've had her home, she has developed a very obvious and quite significant lump on the top of her head, directly in between her ears. At first i thought it was the occipital bone, as i've heard pointers have quite a pronouced one, but the size of it was starting to concern me and i got it checked out by the vet. He was unsure what it was and said most likely a trauma to the head, which caused a hematoma. Said to wait 2 weeks and it should be gone. 2 weeks later it was still as prominent as before. I saw a different vet this time and she suggested that part of the occipital bone might have broken off and could be causing the lump there. She suggested an x-ray and asked if the dog has been having any kind of neurological problems. No neurological problems as such, but i have found that she is very hard to train and very slow to understand basic tasks. I have no idea if this is more personality or an underlining issue though.... Am just wondering if anyone has been through anything similar, and what the cause ended up being? She is in no pain so the vet said it will be fine to wait a few weeks to make a decision on the x-ray. I have pictures on my camera, that i will upload when i get home from work.
  24. Hit the nail on the head there. I do believe the owners are known to the police for this reason..
  25. After purchasing a staffy, a friend told me that he would turn out to be a viscous, uncontrollable fighting dog and that i would need to be very very careful.
