  1. Awww Rosie is gorgeous Mercedes! Is she a clumber? Harlow is cute too
  2. Is the fundraiser on tomorrow night? Might come down and have a look gives me an excuse to watch Lola in puppy of the year too
  3. I ride with my sibe attatched to a limited slip collar- Harnesses are designed to allow dogs to pull (and he does sledding so has learnt to pull in harness) so I just used a collar. We ride on quiet back roads near-by, and on bushtracks. But I have seen alot of people biking with their dogs around here, some next to main roads.
  4. I went for a 24km bike ride (without the dog) yesterday!!! Very proud of myself! It was a 12 km gradual incline, and downhill on the way back. Discovered a great bike loop where we can take the dogs
  5. Would you be able to PM me the details of the acupuncture vet Golden? I'm sure my vet wouldn't mind me borrowing the xrays to show someone.
  6. Thanks Showdog. My boss takes one of her showdogs to a bowen therapist so I might give them a call first
  7. Thanks for that Ososwift. I'm not letting her jump, and have told everyone she isn't allowed to do zoomies (although its hard to tell Bon that sometimes!) At the moment vet only said to give painkillers when necassary. I would never have believed it either- now I know why her spine has shown all her life! I thought she was just thin! They said they need to keep them on record for 7 years. I'm going back to pay the bill wednesday so might ask if they can forward a copy to the chiropractor or make a copy for me.
  8. That's the word the vet used I think! (spondlyosis) Will look into accupunture. Did it affect her much/get worse?
  9. I havn't paid bill yet but will have paid for them by wednesday. :D Vet said they need to keep xrays for 7 years for their records..
  10. Results are in- Bon has a fused lumbar vertabrae (which is probably congenital, which explains why she has always had that roach back). The "wings" on the thoracic (sp) vertabrae above the fused vertabrae are out of wack and touching- pinch...ing on nerves (which is why she is sore in front legs and neck) . Vet said to continue painkillers (previcox) whenever she is sore, and also said seeing a chiropractor may help (although vet couldn't release the xrays, so I'm going to have to explain Bondi's condition to any chiropractors she sees). The xrays were amazing to see- I can't believe my girl has had this her whole life and still managed to run and jump and move like normal, when her spine is fused. She is amazing ♥ All in all the vet said good news- and we just need to keep up painkillers and take care of any pinched nerves

  12. All the standard's I've met have been hyperactive clowns and too much for their owners
  13. Oh no Hope she's ok Abbistar- keep us posted. Took Wolf out for his first 'real' run next to the bike this arvo- he did so well! He didn't pull me off even when dogs ran out barking at him and other people rode past on bikes. We went for 2 Km. He kept up no problem - I on the other hand was knackered the slightest hills killed me. I need to get myself fit!
  14. I have a Sibe. He lives on acerage with 7 other dogs to run around with to keep him fit. However I also do sledding with him, and am biking him now to train him up for ET. He gets fed 3 times a day, Proplan dry food, tiny bit of natures gift wet food. He gets a coat supplement to help with sheds. During sledding season his food is increased, and he is also fed chicken carcasses to maintain his weight- he seems to loose condition during sledding season. He is bathed the day before a show- so generally once a week. I use plush puppy seabreeze oil every second bath to condition his coat- no conditioner. He is blow dryed with a strong blowdryer to get out excess fur. We aim to keep him in condition all year round- but his condition varies with the activities he's performing. This year my aim is to increase his fitness (and mine) so he can get his ET, to increase his endurance for Sledding and also the showring.
  15. Yeah I thought that was strange aswell, guess we will find out monday. She also hasn't lost any muscle mass on a particular limb (which vet said is associated with arthritis) and the pain comes and goes..
  16. Amstaff? Staffy? Powlish Lowland Sheepdog? Harrier? Schipperke? - maybe too small? Boston Terrier - might be too small..
  17. Hugs to Ceasar and you I hope the cortisone makes some improvement.
  18. Yep, I work at a kennels so see lots of dogs, and some come in that I dislike. I just get the other staff to deal with them if they are really annoying me, otherwise I just deal with it and treat them like any other of the dogs. I dislike dogs that constantly jump on me or yap in my ear with horrid high-pitched barks. There have not been many terriers that I've liked- can't stand the barking/biting/aggro to other dogs that most of the terriers I see at kennels display. (I can think of a couple of cairns I LOVE, and a kerry blue and Airdales..oh and of course staffords and amstaffs) Funnily enough I tend to like the growly/aggro dogs that come in- because most of them are just scared and they are a challenge to gain their trust- and I'm generally the only person that will go near these dogs. I like to see the transformation in their behaviour after afew days.
  19. Thanks OsoSwift. I've gone and gotten painkillers for her this morning. She seems a tad better today than yesterday (she has been sunbaking this morning.. I think the cold sets it off). She blew me away when she got up this morning and did a cat stretch without crying! (although I did hear bones crack) Her face looks happier today.
  20. Thanks Rally. This just seems to have all come out of nowhere and come on so fast in the past 6months
  21. Not that I have ever heard of, but they are so similar to dobes in so many ways I could be wrong.. I've decided I'm going to pester my vet and see if I can take Bon in for some painkillers tomorrow to get her through until monday. (my poor vet, its going to be the 3rd time I've called them in 3 days!) I just looked it up and there are afew cases of Boxers with wobblers. It also mentions symptoms of ear infection- Bondi has been shaking her head like somethings in her ear the last couple of days- however it also says that it starts in the rear legs, and we havnt had any problems there. She doesnt seem uncoordinated, just sore and stiff.
  22. I just want to relieve the pain for the two days before she gets to the vets- once she has painkillers I plan to maintain gentle excercise to maintain muscle mass and keep pressure off her joints. At the moment though, everytime she lays down or gets up, she crys
  23. Thanks Yes she does look sore and stiff in the neck aswell today- but my vet said that would probably be associated with shoulder pain.. I always thought human painkillers were toxic to dogs? I have a large crate used for the show dogs, but she isnt crate trained so I don't know how well she would relax in there. At the moment I have her locked in my room with me.
  24. Bondi is sore in her front legs again. Took her to vets over xmas for this and she was given painkillers- and told its most likely arthritis- but we will xray after xmas. Last night she woke up crying, reluctant to move, limping on front legs (mostly left leg I think) and got up and went to sleep in the spare room on the sofa in there Now she is so sore she crys when she adjusts herself to get comfty, moves very slowly and carefully when she lays down- or when she goes to have a drink- takes treats, and then doesnt eat them because she realises its too painful to lay down and hold them when she eats them Worst of all is the look on her face- I can tell she's not happy I can't get her into the vet until monday- so any ideas what I can do to minimise pain in the meantime? -I'm trying to get her to lay down and stay still (easier said than done- she can't get comfty and is restless) - I'm restricting her from jumping - Given her lots of warm blankets to lay on (I think the cold of last night might have brought on the soreness- even though she was sleeping on my bed) - I've raised food bowl, and have all her waterbuckets full to the brim so she doesnt have to bend down far (I'm also going to buy her steps up onto my bed to stop her jumping) - She currently gets Sasha's blend on food- and if xrays confirm arthritis I'll be starting her on Cartophen injections.. Any other idea's that I can do in the meantime? I've run out of her painkillers, so don't know how else to help her
