  1. Oh my gosh , tears streaming just reading these. I got Charlie ( and now Jasper). To help me detach from some horrific family troubles. Have 2 sons, 21 and 20, so some may relate to gen Y. Suffice to say things have been troubling for 4 years now. Cannot imagine not having Charlie and Jasper now, nor how I would react if something happened to them. Was never a dog person before. The love from them is more than I get from others.
  2. Just wondering where to get BHH in Sydney? My 2 are on royal canin but asperity always scratching. No fleas and still smells like a dog not a poodle.
  3. I have finally putmy photos up in the poodle Sub breed. General discussion
  4. Which thread exactly? Have trouble attaching pictures.
  5. Wow. Will be interesting to watch him change. Hope he's going to change from wavy/straight to curly too.
  6. Thanks for that. Jasper had quite a few colours. Lighter legs and tummy and dark grey and brown? along his back. I got him clipped as it was getting too long and because he has a smell also. Underneath was much darker. He has a patch on his shoulders that is quite dark and straight and almost looks like a cowlick. Then he has brownish ears. Seems odd as his parents looked silver. Although I think the fathers parents were black and white.
  7. Could it be a habit. Sometimes in children habits develop and then cannot be stopped. I have experience with this myself and my son who as ADHD has had many habits. Perhaps you need to distract him with some sort of noise and activity.Have you considered asking Doctor Harry. Better homes and gardens. He had a dog on recently with a similar problem
  8. Yes. I'm thinking maybe it irritates his skin. He's a very scratchy toy poodle. In fact constantly scratching his ears or biting near tail and his legs. I hoped after being washed a few times it would settle but it hasn't. When I first joined this forum I had some concerns regarding his pedigree because he has a different coat to Charlie and a definite doggy smell. In fact when they play and chase one another I smell him more.
  9. Just wondering if it's possible to have a reaction to this product. Have used on Charlie. TP. For 3 years and on Jasper since December. Just did both this morning and Jasper is rolling on the carpet, timber floor and growling.
  10. Yes. My poodle has always been off and sometimes vomits every time he is wormed. He is now 3. I use Interceptor.
  11. There is the dog wash on captain cook drive. I think they do big dogs. I have poodles. I think my groomer only does small dogs. There are a few mobile ones though.
  12. Sounds like my Jasper. He lays in the grass when we go for walks and now rolls in it I think he came from a place with concrete. Wasn't house trained. Poor diet. Very timid around any noises. Kept watching the tv and barking at certain sounds. Didn't like staying outside on balcony but I do leave him for short times and gradually increase time. Charlie ,my 3 year old toy poodle will sit on balcony. But jasper likes to be curledp a my feet. Jasper nips me and charlie a lot too You just have to go slowly with whatever you want to introduce. Does she have a crate?
  13. He is very cute. He didn't have the bet start. He weighed 1.8 kg when he arrived . Now he's 2.5. Still scratches a lot though but it could be from the grass. He loves rolling rounding it. Charlie would never do that but Charlie is a highly strung poodle and jasper is the woolworths variety. ( so my husband says )
  14. Absolutely. Charlie did not have what I would call a pre existing condition . As far as I'm concerned they take your money and then find loopholes to not pay. Like most insurance companies. Everything nowadays driven by profit for shareholders.
  15. If it protects them, it isn't wrong at all. People who will tell you that picking up a small dog that's under threat will make it "dominant" are full of it. Invariably, they don't own small dogs. The risk is real that a dog will jump up on you to get to them but they'd have to get past my boot first. If there is a car bonnet/roof nearby? Use that. And yell your head off at the oncoming dog. If it doesn't stop it, it may attract some help. There is something to be said for carrying a big umbrella or one of those groovy aluminium hiking poles.. it can be a barrier or a weapon if required. I have always maintained that folk who have never seen a serious incident in a public dog park are lucky.. and its only a matter of time. I was told not pick up as it transmits my anxiety to the dog . In a recent incident with another Jack Russell. The guy was walking along with the dog off lead, it spotted Charlie, charged at us and was jumping up my legs trying to get Charlie. When the owner finally arrived he sais "sorry about that". I said a bit more. I am terrified by these events and walk home with my whole body shaking. I was bitten as a child and am terrified of all dogs. If one is standing outside its place I will cross the road. Or sometimes turn round and go back the other way.
  16. Hopefully this will work. Seem to have no end of trouble resizing these pictures as from my camera they were huge. Ok all good except too small to see Jasper's coat which actually looks better here than in real life. He is quite a mix of colours atm. He is now 8 months old and quite the rascal. His ears have tinges of brown though. I'm hoping he's going to turn into the poodle he is supposed to be.
  17. Thank you all. I emailed breeder again and she said she was having trouble getting address from another buyer she has everything now so will register . Now I just have to work out how to do the pictures. When I do which section do I put them. Is it in my profile? Can never navigate in these forums.
  18. I don't have it any more. Was with pet plan. They refused to pay for some tests to see why Charlie was losing weight. They got a printout from vet which said he had a condition I had not stated. Nonsense. He had been to the vet because he was always eating things in the yard and vomitting. He had no condition. He was a puppy. He is fine now and doesn't eat yard things now. I was more interested in insurance for ticks but they don't do that. Probably because it's likely to happen. I doubt I will get it again
  19. Wouldn't work. If you vote 'yes' to who you insure with. I said no .
  20. I don't mind brushing them. And they go to the groomer for washes.
  21. Have emailed breeder again. What is a soft coat? His coat although not curly is thick. It's hard to see hs skin underneath.
  22. I'm no dog expert. My toy poodles are 3 years and 8 months. I never go to areas like those. I know it's good to socialise your dogs but I'm too scared to let them off lead. I'm scared of other dogs and have had a few bad experiences in my own neighbourhood. Some people insist on letting their dog out to roam. It sees me with Charlie and jasper and charges up . I'm terrified as I don't know what it's going to do. Sometimes I have picked them up and I know that's wrong. Once a jack Russell charged at Charlie and bit him on the nose and if we ever walk past it now Charlie barks quite ferociously. I find walking them a bad enough experience.
  23. Jasper was getting wavy after we'd had him a few months but I got him clipped as the coat was a mix if brown ,black and grey but underneath is quite dark and not particularly wavy now. Charlie was probably similar when he was 1 but is very curly now. Jasper had very little on his topknot.
