  1. They have been on it for a few months now and I actually thought he had settled down but this was very noticeable straight after the groomer .Charlie has been going for 3 years and Jasper since December. She doesn't cut them short , his leg hair is about 3cm long but he seems to bite the same spot near his shin and also down near his nails.
  2. I don't have any wandering Jew just Michelia coco , palms , one grevillea , and agapanthus. He ins though the agapanthus casing Charlie though and has wrecked them. Maye the sap?? Where do you get the tablet. ? Perhaps he ha a flea. Will I give frontline again. Think I did it 3 weeks ago. I bought a new camera so will take soe more pics for the poodle thread. He doesn't look like the same dog now. But he has an odd coat too. Very thick, not curly and always has a dirty feel.
  3. Hi guys. I haven't been on forum for one time. Some might remember I have 2 poodles , Charlie and Jasper and you might also remember Jasper came to me with quite a few problems . Early in the year I changed their dry food to black hawk holistic lamb and rice and eventually jaspers itching and biting himself settled. They go to the same groomer every 4 weeks but last time after being washed jasper started to scratch again . He scratches his chin, ears, bites his legs and is constantly scratching Himself. I'm sure it's not the food and as the groomer can't remember which shampoo she used and I will now have to keep track of each product, I'm in need of some advice as to something to perhaps rinse him in. I gave him 2 x half tablets of claratyne last week and it may have eased slightly. Jasper is the sort of poodle that rolls in the grass constantly and runs thought the garden. I do have one grevillea shrub in the back yard which I can't touch. Immediate rash!!<div> They also have raw chicken necks for dinner and no other food, will go to the vet on Monday but I know the rundown of that, expense, elimination diet, skin scraping etc. </div><div>I have been happy with the black hawk and my gut tells me maybe the shampoo last time was the culprit . I did give them both a frontline several weeks ago. He hates any of those products. Immediately rolls on the carpet to get rid of them. Nothing bothers Charlie. I thought of mites but really have no idea and it's distressing seeing him like this. Neither of them have ever had fleas and I have never found fleas at home. They do sleep on little mats in their crates which I wash in Fab powder. </div><div><br></div>
  4. Have always done whole family yearly. My mum always did us and I contined. Especially when kids were young and played outside in dirt for hours. .
  5. Yes if it went through the courts she could get victims compensation andif court directs damages they get it from the persons wage or centrelink perhaps if they happen to be unemployed.
  6. If Mosquitos are the problem how is it transmitted from dog to dog?
  7. Thanks. I have been browsing dpreview but even though it gives all the specs it's still hard to really know what it all means. I know you don't have to keep increasing megapixelbut I thought zoom was a consideration yet, the Nikon p300 is smaller zoom than say canon sx260. Then there was. You tube comparison of Nikon p300 and canon S95. Dear me I've opened a can of worms.
  8. Yes , although I like the idea of what the bigger camera can do I know when we go out its who wants to carry it. I phoned my local 'camera house' store and asked about some models. He said its not always the megapixel and zoom but the type of lens. He said choice magazine had recommended NikonP300 . So confusing. Anyway gives me something to do while I'm not working. Wish there was a thread on 'teachers waiting for permanent employment ' or ' cheap v experienced'. I'd be a busy forum poster.
  9. Wow. Some of those photos are amazing. Such detail and so crisp. Looked at the sx40 and sx260. Great zoom.
  10. Thanks. Had a look at the G series. Might look into selling my Olympus models . What would be a good camera to compare to those? Actually like the canon SX260HS. 12 megapixel. 20x zoom. Does anyone have that model ? So sick of buying cameras then not happy with pics.
  11. Thank you for your reply. We were quite happy with the canon Powershot but just uncertain whether to get it fixed. Not sure if you can change lens on it . My two Olympus are mju840/ 8 megapixel and mju9000/ /12 megapixel. The smaller one is what I use. The bigger one is quite new but has been back to Olympus twice under warranty as lens wouldnt open and then was replaced. This one I'm not happy with as the colours are not true. I only use auto as don't know enough about settings. The Powershot though did have good pictures. I'm guessing the canon G series is a few steps up? Think we bought the Powershot around 2005 . We did have a waterproof camera years ago but it's not a necessity now as my husband has a go pro for dirt biking and it has the waterproof housing option. I actually think my iPhone takes better photos than my Olympus . Will just have to research more.
  12. Hi. Need some camera advice and noticed some members post some extraordinary pics. My husband and I are the worst at choosing a camera as we simply don't know what all the specs etc mean. We have 2 video cameras hardly used and I have 2 Olympus cameras 8 and 10 megapixel I think which I'm not terribly happy with as the colours are never right. Several years ago we bought a Canon Powershot Pro1. About 8 megapixel seemed to be a good camera although didn't have different lenses so when we took shots of kids surfing they were still too small. Camera had very little use as we mostly forget to take it with us and we are very careful with our things so was always in bag and never put down where it would get dirty etc. In 2008 I was going on a cruise and decided to pack the rarely used camera. On checking the lens wouldn't zoom out. Just made a whirring sound. Canon said it would be $600 to fix . Camera cost$1500 at the time. We decided not to fix as could prob get a better one by now. What a waste though. The camera looks like new. Th dilemma is should we get it fixed. Or buy something else? If we buy something I have no clue about what to get. Should I try to sell the other n eBay ? Or just chuck it? I'm not a hoarder but to throw out something that cost so much just seems obscene. We don't do anything special with out photos other than download them onto the computer ad then usually forget them. I like the idea of some those books you can make online using your photos. I pu some pics of Charle and Jasper in the poodle thread the other day but they are so small and would like to take better photos Thanks in anticipation.
  13. I also thought we had paralysis ticks
  14. Yes I agree absolutely. They are not what they seem. I would notify police too. It's a Scam and what's more the male 'friend' could be worse than the woman.
  15. I'm still having the odd accident with Jasper inside. He will hang on for ages for a wee but occasionally when he has been chasing Charlie round the house I'd find a poo at the top of stairs or in sons room. Charlie bangs in the back door to go out but Jasoer doesn't really show any signs although once he stopped and looked up at me then ran to the back door.
  16. Pardon my ignorance but I believe in my area which is Sutherland shire it is an offence to allow your dog to poo on street, path, nature strip whatever, and not pick it up. Fines apply. I thought this was brought in about 5 years ago. I always take pastic bags when I walk. In my area though there are many just plain ignorant disgusting people who allow there dogs to poo all over the footpath. I'm constantly yanking my two away so they don't step in anything. Really gives me the dirts. If I see the offending person I ask them why they don't carry bags. I'm becoming less tolerant of this as it seems to be on the rise. I guess it's a sad reflection of attitudes in general.
  17. Wish I had gone. Very hard to watch on live stream. Keeps stopping and people stand in front of camera. Where else can you go to se this?
  18. I just got a sample pack of Black Hawk lamb and rice which I put out in morning with their Royal Canin. They both ate the whole lot and then Charlie has been barking at the laundry shelf for more. I give chicken necks and sometimes sardines at night. I was putting out dry food when at work but I think Jasper is eating it all so have to supervise feeding at the moment as Jasper was looking fatter and Charlie started looking skinny. I don't think Jasper is scratching quite as much as before. What is the problem with corn in the kibble?
  19. That one over. Does anyone know what's next.
  20. Miss moo as far as I know there are different rules for each class as to what you can and can't use, like hand strip you can't use clippers or you have time deducted, the time is worked out by what skill your doing and how big the dog is. Like for instance Darkrai had 2 hours to handstrip micah as she was 14inches and under if she was bigger then 16inches he would have had 2.25hrs Most of these people own their own salon or work in a salon but anyone who registers to be a member of PIAA can do a groom, not 100% sure on that though as everyone there yesterday was a groomer or a learning groomer.. Theres different qualifications as to what class your in.. Next comp Darkrai will be in Open as he has won at novice level.. Lol I'm considering learning how to do my own dog and doing a comp.. Hehehehe I can do a gooooood lowchen well show prep anyway lol!! I got too lazy today to travel back to syd so I'm now watching the poodles from the comfort of my bed! 10:30 start they should be amazing.. Then it's groomers best in show :D where the. Best in group winners of each class go for best in show and the winer of that takes $1000 So there will be the best terrier, best Gundog, best breed scissor, best freestyle and best poodle.. I've been trying to with but not much happening?
  21. Same. Not working on iPad. Might try computer
  22. Hi all. I know next Monday and Tuesday there are grooming competitions at the Royal Easter Show. I would like to see the poodles. Can someone tell me which day and time? Thanks in anticipation.Have found some info. Tuesday 17th. 10.30- 2.00 poodles
  23. Hello, I think the kennel you are asking about may be mine.. Just Like Home Pet resort at Kangy Angy near Wyong. We only take the small medium up to Cocker size. We are also breed specific so if you have a look at our web site you may like to give us a call. www.justlikehomepetresort.com.au I am Deb the owner. If its not us sorry for butting in..) :O0 Thanks, will have a look. Both toy poodles. One very small.
  24. This topic has probably been done but I couldn't find it. I would like to go away occasionally but now that I have Charlie and Jasper , toy poodles, I need to find a boarding kennel. I heardthere is a good one on central coast but couldn't remember name. I have a lovely lady that walks them when I work but couldn't have them overnight. Have no relatives to help out. Mum stayed when we went to Hawaii last year but had problems with the 2 boys ( adults? NOT). and went home. Took Charlie with her to her unit. Can't do that anymore mum is 80 and I have jasper as well. Don't have anyone I could ask so best choice would be to board them for a few days.
