  1. I will be there with some corgi's Does anyone know the breakup of the breed numbers or at least the group numbers TB
  2. Emergency C Section at 3am in the morning on a public holiday $930 that included antibiotics for mum (sheltie) - I thought I was very lucky for that price. I also had 2 vets doing the c section which was good because one vet tended to a pup that was struggling and need a blood tranfusion while the other tended to mum. I think with a number of vets what you pay depends on who you are. If you are a well known customer then you tend to get things a bit cheaper. I was once quoted $450 for an ultrasound to confirm that my girl was in whelp when I now pay about $50 for an ultrasound. Needless to say I no longer use my local vet as they did not give me confidence that they knew what they were doing in relation to breeding. I would hate to think what they would have charged me for a C-section if I needed one. Progesterone Tests range from $45 to $75 ( both of these vets the tests are done on site and results are back within a few hours), I used to use a vet where they went offsite however after issues with results coming back on time I no longer use that vet for my Prog Tests as it is a waste of money if you cannot get same day results. TB
  3. Wolfs Den were at Hillsbourough all weekend so perhaps they did not have acess to emails.
  4. I like the cool coats for the shelties however have found that they are no good for the Corgis as they cannot walk in them ( their legs are too short) so if you have a short legged breed ensure that you try the coats on for size and that they can actually walk. TB
  5. I have mated one of my bitches who currently lives with my mother in law in Adelaide ( near Marion). Can anyone recommend a vet who can reliably confirm whether the bitch is in whelp (ultrasound etc) before we bring her to Sydney to have her pups. We will be bringing her to Sydney once she has been confirmed to be in whelp. Who would you recommend? Thanks TB
  6. Hoping Poor Bailey is found safe and well. When I had a sheltie go missing a few years ago we got a call to say that one had turned up at the pound. The OH went racing to the pound to find a Malt X something. I find it is better to ensure that in any description that you also use words such as mini lassie or mini collie ( as a breeder I hate describing them as that) but the general public have more of an idea of what a lassie dog or collie dog look like. TB
  7. I have been using it with my badly Arthritic Sheltie for the last 10 Months. It has made a an improvement ( this dog was days away from being PTS). I buy from an online stockist and it is substantially cheaper than the vets at around $82 plus delivery. If you want the stockist please feel free to PM me for the details. I was charged over $120 to purchase from my vet when I first started him on it. TB
  8. I use both. The rubber backed stuff is good in that it does not slip around therefore the pups cannot scrunch it up. The rubber backed one however does take longer to dry( about twice the time). I also use the rubber backed one in my dog trailer and also as beds on the floor for the dogs. TB
  9. The boy - he does not yet have a name and finally little Pixie. TB
  10. The first photo is of Miley ( she is the girl that will most likely be staying with us) The next photo is of the girl that will most likely go to Canberra but not until she is 3 to 4 months old - I have asked the people to give me a pet name. Will add the other photos in a minute
  11. Thanks for the suggestions The only one with a pet name so far is little Pixie and she will be going to live with a friend of mine. I will be keeping a girl here so need a name for her and if I cannot decide will run a second girl on for 4 months so will need at least 2 more Pet names. Will try to get some updated pictures on the weekend when we put them out on the grass for a run. TB
  12. My recent Sheltie litter is now nearly seven weeks old and I am struggling to come up with names for them ( pet names and registered names). We have 3 girls and 1 boy in the litter. Only 1 girl has received a pet name 'Pixie' because she is little and a bit special. I am tossing up whether to call a really outgoing girl Miley as the name seems to suit her. All pups are sable and white. Mum is XXXXXXXX I Got The Faith ( this is her last litter) Sire is XXXXXXXXX Hear Em Whisper My prefix is Cheralay. I am trying to decide whether to go with a theme ( as to which I have no idea), whether to go with D names as this is my fourth litter or to pick C or Sh names to go with the prefix. Anyone got any suggestions?? TB
  13. It was recommended to me by my vet for my Sheltie girl when we had a lot of bleeding around 2.5 to 3 weeks post mating. Kept her on it right throughout the pregnancy and we ended up with 5 pups ( 4 surviving). TB
  14. Correction make that 3 sable and white girls and 1 sable and white boy. She decided to have another one after we cleaned everything up. We were only expecting 3 as the Ultra sound on Saturday detected 2 heartbeats and 1 possible up under the ribs. TB
  15. Sheltie Litter Arrived this morning. Holly whelped 2 sable and white girls and 1 sable and white boy between 5.50 am and 7.10 am this morning. All pups are drinking and doing well and appear to be quite strong. TB
  16. I have just come back from a vist to my local Kangaroo Tent City and noticed that they had the Compact Oztrail Gazebo's on sale for $149.95. The catalogue says they are on sale until the 25th April. www.kangarootentcity.com.au Worthwhile checking out if you are in the hunt for a new gazebo. TB
  17. Show Equipment Van ( Don Day) at Erskine Park sell it. TB
  18. I have a Sheltie Litter due around 24th March (confirmed via ultrasound today) TB
  19. Agree with what others have said - Luci will whip you into shape and help elimanate the bad habits that we all pick up. The training at Castle Hill is Tuesdays - start time 7.30. ( Have not been for a while but this is more socialisation of your dogs and less hints on how to improve your handling) There was training the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at Erskine Park but the lady running that is no longer doing it and I do not know if they have found someone to replace her yet. TB
  20. Flea, When placing older ones less than 12 months I advertise on Dogzonline. Reinterate in your ad what sort of socialisation/training they have had. You can push the fact that they may have already been taught to walk on a lead, been crate trained, are house trained, have had all of their vaccination etc. ie the puppy where all of the preliminary work has already been done. There is a market out there for the slightly older pup particulary where someone works during the day or where they may not have had a lot of experience with dogs. I have found that in some instances I get more people wanting something that little bit older than the cute 8 week old. Last year I placed 3 pups that were between 4 months and 7 months and I had no issues whatsover placing them. The pups had been reared in the house and had been well socialised ( 1 had even gone to puppy school). These were all pups that we originally were going to run on however for one reason or another did not end up being exactly what we were after. We were able to get full price for these pups as well, so no discount was given. The last one was in such demand that I could have charged a premium and still sold him because people want something well socialised. This was even when others breeders with the same breed had 8 week old pups advertised. Good Luck with placing your remaining pups. TB
  21. I have been feeding the minced chicken frames from Leonards to my shelties for over 12 months now with no issues. I like the stuff from Leonards because it is fresh. Went in one day and they would not sell me what they had as it was from the day before was told to come back in 10 or 15 minutes and they would do me a fresh batch. Great price too at only a $1 per kilo and they split it into 1 kilo bags for me so I can freeze without having to rebag. Mine also get chicken frames, wings or lamb necks 1 or 2 times a week. TB
  22. Barmesarah, Make sure you keep the weight down on your dog as the joints have to work so much harder when they are carrying extra weight. You do need to keep the dog moving ( you know the saying move it or lose it) Catrophen injections or tablets ( worth a try) I use Glyde oral Supplement with my old boy with severe arthritis and it has improved the quaility of his life. It is not cheap I paid $130 for a container that lasted 2 - 3 months at the vets but can source on line for around $90 delivered Dried Shark Cartledge was recommended to me by someone else. For a sheltie I was told to give 1 or 2 joints ( ie 1 to 2 cm pieces) each day so while a 100gram bag costs around the $10 mark it does last ages. Mine think this is a treat. Before going onto the Glyde I was giving my boy half a glucosamine tablet morning and night ( vet recommended Osteoeaze Plus). Fish oil capsule every couple of days ( a good source of Omega 3) I did use acupuncture on my boy for a while and it did improve things. We were also giving him a herbal remedy 'China Med Arthritis Formula' which improved things in the short term however we have had to go for a more agreesive approach now as my boy has severe arthritis everywhere. China Med was purchased from Animal Holistic Therapies in Western Sydney. Good Luck TB

  25. Poodlefan That is why we did the titre test on the litter sister that I kept. Those results came back and indicated that her titre levels were really low ( to the extent that there was a concern as to whether she was adequately covered). The treating vet of the girl that died has confirmed parvo via blood test. Sandra777 I am not necessarily blaming the drug company but at this stage it does warrant investigation. 1 vaccinated dog dead from parvo and her litter sister who had the same batches of vaccine showing low titre levels ( was not due to be vaccinated again for another 3 months). I need to be able to rule out whether it was a suspect batch of vaccine or whether there is something in my lines that does not take well to that type of vaccination and the only way we can do that is to get the drug company to do their investigation first. TB
