  1. Good to hear Cookie is doing better, hopefully she improves and there wont be any bad news in regards to her back.
  2. Thanks for all the replies. I just went straight in today and asked for a referal and luckily there was another vet there and she told me just to make the appointment and that they would fax over everything after.... Tommorrow first thing I'll be calling the dermotologist for an appointment, hopefully it wont be too long a wait. JulesP, I agree with you there. If he was showing mild reactions I could say that it is liver detoxing whatever but going into fullblown severe hives/itchiness/swelling a day after I changed the food and has been happening since is a pretty good indication it must be something in the food. Vet was still defending the food and saying it could be airborne or totally unrelated - which yes it could be but the chances of that are very small since the whole 4 weeks on plain fish he didn't have symptoms.
  3. Sad news indeed What are her chances after 48 hours? If she has a broken back surely that time wont make a difference?
  4. I called my local Petbarn and they don't have the Allerbend in stock. It will be a few days until I can get it which means I don't have anything to give him tonight and next few days. If I go by this statement though I should just stick with the Eukanuba for 6 weeks as he may be detoxing from weeks ago? So the 4 weeks been on fish - no itching/swelling in that time just diarrhoea. The vet dry food eating for 4 days and the itching/swelling is back but normal stools. persephone, I am thinking it may be starch related too. Only thing which seems to make sense so far. karly101, my vet seems to think otherwise. He doesn't want to send me to one until the itchiness is gone. I guess I could just rock up and demand one tommorrow, now sure how well that'll go down.
  5. I'll research the uni vet clinic, problem is it'll have to wait until the weekend as I don't have a car and will have to get someone to drive me there (everyone I know works and isn't available during the week).
  6. persephone, yes I am worried about that too Here is a picture of what he did to his tail area on saturday night - granted this is looking better now. I had to put a pair of kids undies on him so he couldn't get to it any longer. This is with antihistamines! He has a few more areas like this. Incase anyone was wondering he does not have fleas.
  7. Ok I just spoke to the vet and honestly don't know if I should just go to another vet or keep going with this one. He says I need to stick to the Eukanuba for 6 weeks to see the difference and says that it shouldn't of made a reaction in only 3-4 days and that I should continue to give it to him! Could this be right and should I keep feeding? I asked if he could get my referal ready and he said that if I go to the dermatologist now she'll just give me anti-inflammatories and meds and have me come back when he isn't itching? so he wants me to go to her when he isn't having a reaction. If anyone knows can they tell me if he can be tested while he is reacting? is there truth to this?
  8. Unfortunately the Eukanuba is a no go. Stools were great so I'm upset it didn't work Tonight he is going back on the salmon/tuna and I'll give the Sago a go next after 3-5 days. Called the vet on friday and saturday and he hasn't been in, still waiting on my referal! I'm probably going to get him tested for everything under the sun if and when I can get to this dermatologist...
  9. Welcome !! Cleo is such a pretty girl
  10. BT mixed with another terrier? I'm hopeless but thought I'd guess something anyways :) Oh I seem to see a chi face there too on one of them hmmm... In any case they are gorgeous
  11. I have about 1/2 a packet of TOTW(2.27 size in salmon) left over and can't feed it to my little guy anymore because he is allergic to it. I also have like 6 sample packets of Canidae in different flavours. If anyone lives or works near Ryde I'd be happy to just give it away. Perhaps a rescue or anyone who wants to give it a go without having to buy a bag? Send me a pm if interested (I hope it is ok to say that in this forum if not feel free to delete mods).
  12. Thank you for all the advice everyone, it really has helped Kingston lots! LizT, I'm giving him about 5 days until I try something new and making sure he is recovered before I try anything else. I was going to try the pumpkin or Sago next but decided to go with the Eukanuba Vet Dry(Fish). Main reason I did this is because he is loosing a lot of weight (currently about 1 kilo underwieght) and even though he doesn't itch at all with the normal fish he has severe diarrhea like water! Results so far is good, he ate a bowl last night and no itching yet. Today stools much better too. What amazed me though was he actually ate the whole thing and wanted more!!! I've never gotten him to eat any dry food so this is a real suprise for me.
  13. Ok, I wasn't expecting that!
  14. I just looked that up but not sure exactly where to buy it? is it like a vegetable or do I buy it in a packet (looks like small beads from image google)? The supermarket will sell it, here is a photie from the Woollies website...Anchor brand Sago Thanks, I will look into it today. My vet formula has arrived at the vet also so I'm going to go pick that up, fingers crossed it will work. Yes I wish he would've written the referal on the day I went to see him, I could've made the appointment by now
  15. He's so beautiful! Looks like he has settled in nicely, how lucky are you :)
  16. Ok well, after so many weeks of successful diet he accidently had a few sips of my milk yesterday that I'd left in my glass when I ran to the phone I'm always super careful I guess I just didn't think at the time. I'm guessing he lapped up less than 1/4 because that was what was left and there was still a little in there when I caught him sipping. I'm guessing that is what set him off again as his eyes are so red and swollen they hardly open now and he just looks so sad. I'm just so frustrated I want to cry right now I gave him some antihistamine and he's sleeping now, hopefully it will ease in a few hours
  17. I just looked that up but not sure exactly where to buy it? is it like a vegetable or do I buy it in a packet (looks like small beads from image google)?
  18. I hope they sign him over to you thundercat. Looks like they didn't give a damn so I doubt it will be a problem. Good on you for saving Lochi and I hope both of you will have fun filled days ahead of you :)
  19. Poor old Kingston - just when things were looking up You could try pumpkin but if he reacts to sweet potato that might not help either - worth a try though. I bought Pumpkin today but will give it a day or two for the sweet potato to go out of his system. Hopefully he wont react to it. About 3-4 weeks now. We did go see the vet a few days ago and he wants me to put him on Eukanuba or Royal Canin as he says he only knows those brands and not the one I tried... So I ordered one through the vets but haven't picked it up yet. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a go since I can just stop giving it to him if he gets a reaction. He hates dry food though but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.... Eversince I stopped the sweet potato he is extremely runny again which leads me to believe it could be an intolerance as you said. I might try roo as I don't think he's had that before. He doesn't do well on rice either Oh and I'm supposed to go back for the referal to the dermatologist he said he needs to write something detailed.
  20. It's not Pet Barn, it's a shop called The Pet Company Maybe that should be made clear, as some might get the wrong impression. I refuse to buy anything from a store that sells pets.
  21. We'll make up for it Cavstar! Here is a and a courtesy of Kingston ;)
  22. Awww, how cute!! I got plenty of kisses this morning, not really any different from any other day but love it just the same :D
  23. Update on Kingston. We are doing great on the just fish diet. Problem is we have some diarrhea. I decided to add some sweet potato to the fish (baked, no skin) and added it to his food about 5 days ago. The diarrhea went away but he started itching! What are the chances of it being the sweet potato? I thought it might be a coincidence and gave it to him for 4 days straight and yes itching like mad and we got bald spots again Last two days I had to give him meds, now he is better again. I'm positive now it is the sweet potato! Anyone know what I can add in the meantime to the food to stop the running?
