Yes, they look exactly like the travel pillow. I did thought of it but I think the travel pillow is too big for Shih Tzu. I wonder if there is any travel pillow for kids? Maybe that will work!

Hi I am looking to get a dog chin rest pillow - looks just like this click link. I find grooming Snowy's face without something for him to lie on is hard as he moves around to find a comfy place to rest. I have one small pillow for him but I think it's not sufficient because his head rolls over to the side sometimes. So the proper chin rest would be best. Does anyone know where I can get one in Victoria or online? Thanks!

I have started feeding mine two meals a day when he reached 6 months old. I reckon I can do that earlier too but Snowy tends to vomit out of hunger when I stretch the in between meals. I will leave some treats in the treat balls or kong toys so he will spend his time eating it, slowly. Now, he is in two meals a day with some treats in between. Getting fatter he is.. and need to cut down some treats or get him to walk more to burn out his fats. I had another shih tzu boy last time where I weaned him off 3 meals when he reached 3 months old. Had him in two meals a day and he is fine. No vomit out of hunger, only when he refused to eat his morning meal, he'll vomit in the arvo. Other than that, all fine.

yeap, got him heaps of toys and treat balls clean up all the time. Just that if didn't pick it up 'on-time' then, he'll get the chance to play with it

I read it somewhere that it is dog's nature to roll in the poo? And others as well? I have all kind of wipes with me just in case too!

Didn't leave it there on purpose . What a question We don't monitor him pooing 24/7. But will always make sure we clean it up when he did / if we saw it. It is just so happened that most of the time if we missed seeing him poo-ing and not catching it in time to clean it.

Normally they get teary eyes when there is any small fine hair got into their eyes. Which then leads to the gunk. My Snowy has it often. He tears. Every day for few times I had to 'scrap' off the hair out of his eyes with my finger. Kind of easy when you get used to doing it. Just find out which part of the hair / eye lashes got into the eyes, pull the end of the hair from the corner of the eyes, out it goes. the gunk, I used steel comb to comb through it from side, get it out as much as I can then use tissue to wipe it off. I clean Snowy daily at the eyes because the hair that gets into the eyes bothers him always. He will try to paw or scratch his face onto anything.

Hi, It bugs me how Snowy (shihtzu) occasionally plays with his poo. I believe he leaves it alone when his poo is stinky. Like stink the whole house type of stink He just plays with it, scratch and push it around. I am so worry and hoping he won't eat it. I don't know why he suddenly does it. We did said 'No' when we saw him doing it. Most of the time we catch him on time, sometimes when he is alone and did his business, then might have missed it. However, he don't play it every time, just occasionally. But WHY?????? I believe it's not his diet issue. He has all the nutrients he needs. Don't think so he is bored. But I got a feeling he is curious with his own poo. I am hoping he will grow out of it soon. Make me so stress out! Anyone has experienced this?

I am planning to clip Snowy soon. I don't think I and Snowy can deal with his long coat & warm weather. I want to learn to do it. Will be getting own thinning scissors and experiment on him soon. he will look like a monkey with unkempt hair soon

BC is an absolutely gorgeous dog. They are smart too. I love to stare at them whenever I saw few owners walking BC around my area. The owners must think I am a crazy stalker! Yes, Shihtzu is consider as a lapdog? May be that is why they tend to sleep more than other breeds. I find most lapdogs are non- active dogs. Shih Tzu is categorise as a nonsporting breed! not even a toy dog! The only thing about Shih Tzu's breed is that they do need a lot of grooming! I had another Shih Tzu previously and Teddy has lesser coat. He has not much undercoat at all. Snowy's undercoat is scarily a lot! Right now I am trying to find a way to thin it down. Thanks for the comments @BC Crazy *attached photos - Teddy with the collar bell, Snowy with the top knots*

Hi, I hope someone can help me out with choosing the right Mars Coat King number blade. I googled the web and found too many different answer to breed guidelines. Most of the web shows : Shih Tzu #20 product code=50820, 50826 However, I see from ClipperWorld.com.au, it shows: SHIH TZU 12 blade for hair up to 5cm long, 10 blade if longer I read about the Quick Guide below, but I am still lost! Coarse & Medium styles (6 - 12 blades) for prep work and thinning out undercoat Fine styles (16 - 20 blades) for grooming soft, heavy coats Super Fine styles (20 - 26 blades) for finishing and thick, shaggy coats (especially spaniels, setters, etc.) Use coarse styles to comb out the undercoat - fine styles for finishing My shih tzu has medium long coat now (30cm?) and I would want to thin his undercoat. During summer, it would be best if I could also groom his long coat (unless I decided to clip short). I am in between getting the #10 or #20. Can someone enlighten me please about this product or the number I should be getting? Thanks! *attached Snowy's photo*

But the photo attached where he was watching JLO, it was the first time he was watching a chick! None moving.... LOL  Does anyone's doggy / puppy watches tv or whatever movements in the box?? :D Head shot of Snowy. I've just got him trimmed on the body as I am not showing him. But learning how to do his head soon. Regards Snowy's mom

Hi all, I know this topic must have been discuss around in the forum and I did done some research. I have a 7 months old Shih Tzu which I am planning to give him a nice puppy cut. It would be his first time and I would like to make sure it will be a good experience to avoid the creation of fear towards grooming sessions. :) Would be my first time too (sending a dog for grooming)! I am just thinking if I could list down the grooming centre / groomers and everyone can give a vote on which one is the preferred ones, would be much appreciated! Please feel free to let me know your thoughts. Let me know if you can't view the POLL to vote. I may have missed out a lot more center. I have been googling and that is the list that came out for me. Please let me know of any by commenting! Thanks in advance Regards Lisa

Thanks @bedazzledx2. Don't think I want to give another C3 either. But will check with vet if another C5 is needed after the last shot C4+BB that last for 12 months. I mean, I should be allowing only the KC shot not the full C5? -

Thanks @Rappie. I will probably call up and ask about the KC. Maybe it is a KC booster after all.. -
Puppy Skipped 2nd And 3rd Vaccinations

Hi, thanks all for the response. I've just had a look at the vet card again. The last shot during early July this year is for Protech C4 and Protech BB which I reckon should be a C5. The breeder did insist on not giving another shot within these 12 months period as the shot covers for 12 months. @espinay2: that is a good point. I haven't thought about the vaccination for a rescue dog. @Rebanne: the breeder said no more shots till 12 months later. Hence, I would think no need booster? I do read somewhere in the forum that stated C5 need a booster after the first shots? @jakeyjangels: 12 weeks from the last shot .. I guess should be ok for boarding during early week of Oct. Thanks -
Hi, I am in a dilemma now, not sure if I should be giving my puppy the booster as recommended by my vet. I got my puppy 2 weeks ago and he is 6 months old. The breeder just gave him a C5 shot that last for 12 months (sounds like the annual shot to me) a week before I collect him. The breeder specifically told me not to give another shot till 12 months later. I brought him to my vet for a health check with the vaccination cards. My vet said my puppy was given a C3 and a C5 (last 12 months). Vet is recommending for another C5 shot 4 weeks later. I called the breeder's vet to ask if it is ok for another c5 shots and the person behind the call said it is ok if your vet recommends it. I don't want to over vaccinate my puppy. I do plan to get him to obedience class and also will be boarding him 3 months later as I will be going oversea for a week. Please advice! Regards Liz
