  1. Thanks for the tips! Should I buy the same puppy pads that my breeder is using? I'm also tempted to buy one of those 'The Pet Loo' but my breeder said the puppy won't want to climb that high... She said to stick with pads and maybe put some fake grass on top. Not sure the pet loo is worth almost $300... Gosh my little bundle of joy has cost me a small fortune already! Still have left to buy: Bowls Bed Pee pads Collar and lead (saw cute zebra pony hair set at Dogue) ID tag (maybe from this website - www.laserpettages.com - the paw print one) Shampoo (my friend is getting me the Aesop one as he works there) Have spent a small fortune already and I've only paid a deposit on the pup! Eeeek!
  2. Thanks for the replies! My breeder said he'd be fine outside if I carry him and keep him off the ground. I'm going to give some vets a call soon to see about puppy school and what age to start so will ask about this too.
  3. Thanks - I asked someone with a Frenchie who lives in my suburb where they go so will look into that some more. Will find some boxes! Thanks :) Wow! I hope my boy doesn't destroy everything in sight! Haha! I forgot a brush - thanks!
  4. Didn't even think of that! Good idea! I might go choose a tag tomorrow!
  5. Hi everyone I'm getting a French Bulldog puppy in three weeks today! Very exciting but I have one nagging question I want some more advice on please. My puppy is six weeks old tomorrow (I visited him for second time today). My breeder said she will wait another week before taking him to the vet for his vaccinations and microchipping and checks etc. she said I will get a second vaccination at 12 weeks and then one at 16 weeks. This sounds all fine to me. One thing that I wonder about is taking him outside my apartment before his 12 week vaccination in particular. I live in Potts Point in Sydney. Is this a high parvo area? Or a risky area? I don't want to do something careless and then my pup get sick. My breeder said to avoid parks and grass areas until around 13 weeks (so at least a week after his next vaccination). What about walking on footpaths? My breeder said that parvo is only an issue in dirt or actual ground. she said footpaths and concrete are generally fine as they dont retain diseases. obviously i wouldnt let him sniff poo or anything like that. There are lots of dogs around Potts Point but I don't think many would be unvaccinated and I very much doubt there are strays. Should I just carry him everywhere for four weeks? I want to get him outside basically from day one coming with me to cafes and such so he can be really socialised. When is it safe for him to start hanging around other dogs? (Like my friends and family's dogs) would this be after the second vaccination? Also, what about taking him to work if there are other dogs? I'd probably put him in my bottom draw (its a very big draw - about three A3 sheets!) with it open and his bed in there. But will he be safe from other dogs if they are at the office that day? I guess I just want some reassurance around what I can do with my pup while I'm waiting for him to be fully vaccinated or at least up to his 12 week one. He's only going to be a little Frenchie so I don't mind carrying him around and the restaurants/shops/cafes in Potts Point are really good about dogs. Thanks for any tips and such and sorry if this is a rambling post! Ash
  6. Hi all I'm picking up my French Bulldog in three weeks from today - he will be nine weeks when I get him. I'm just wondering what I definitely need on hand when he arrives. I can't seem to find a checklist! So far this is my list: Crate with mattress and blanket - done Baby gate - done Two water bowls Food bowl Food (going to check with breeder what type of Royal Canin she is feeding and will get same. She said she gives a supply anyway with my puppy pack) Bed for home and for occasional days at work Toys - ropes, rubber ones, soft toys, squeaky things, Kongs Back seat buddy car seat cover Shampoo Pee pads and some fake grass patches Enzyme cleaner Anti-chew spray for furniture I can move out of his bedroom Collar and lead (I might wait and take him to the pet store up the road from me so I don't get the wrong size) Is there anything else you'd recommend me having? I get really overwhelmed in the pet stores especially when the staff see me with a list! Thanks!
  7. A piglet?! Haha! He's super cute. His ears should go bat-like this week I think - some of his littermates ears were already stiffening. I won't see him again until the day we pick him up (18th May) when he will be nine weeks. So excited - literally counting down the days...!
  8. I went and visited my puppy again today. He's six weeks now. Starting to get together what I need to have at home for him - a long list! 21 sleeps until pick up day...!
  9. My puppy's breeder just sent me his week five pics but they aren't very high res so not really worth posting. Here are some I'll share though of Tank at four weeks (so last week which is when we first met him). I'm so excited - cannot wait until we can get this little guy home! 28 sleeps to go...!
  10. I've got four more weeks to go until I get my Frenchie 'Tank'. It's so hard being patient! We've already met him last weekend when we picked him. Luckily the breeder is only about one hour drive from where we live. She said we could visit again before we pick him up so we will go next week and see him again. I imagine he will have grown quite a bit from four to six weeks so that will be cool! I sent her a text on Friday asking for a photo update but I haven't heard from her yet and it's taking everything in me to not harass her!
