  1. When he pees on his pillow, what should I do? I pick him up even if he's finished and pop him where he should have gone. I don't really say much to him cos I know I missed the event so he won't make a connection. In terms of the pillow, I have just been washing the cover on a 60 degree heat wash in the machine with Omo. (Like a normal wash). I wipe the pillow inner and then wipe it with vinegar. Do I need to properly wash the pillow too? It's funny cos sometimes he has used the pillow as his bed during the day so I don't know why he likes to pee on it! This is maybe the third time in two days!
  2. Gah I always miss the toilet break! I woke him up so he could pee before we went to bed. I knew he would need to and the minute I turn my head he jumps on his pillow and peed. Damnit!
  3. Ahhh he's cute! You can join me in the "I have my puppy WTF am I doing" thread now! Good luck with the crate training if you keep at it. I keep looking at Tank napping in his throughout the day thinking I have a crazy dog.
  4. Haha I've only been soaking for like 5 mins. I'll try longer for breakfast! It's small mini Royal Canin kibble. I popped his dinner in the fridge and put it back out about an hour later and he had a bit more. Still chucked a fair bit out. He's taken himself off to his crate again for a sleep. I just tried to wake him up so he doesn't go hypo late tonight or early morning. He was not having any of that and promptly took himself back into his crate!
  5. Bah. He's only eaten about 1/4 or 1/3 of his food for dinner. My friend who is a dog trainer in NZ said not to worry as he's not eating with litter mates and not with them all day being active etc. How long should I soak kibble for? I'm mixing it with mince which is what his breeder does.
  6. Eeek its so hard to ignore him when he whimpers at his room's door. I'm sitting on the couch just ignoring him. Trying to see if he will go 30mins with the pen door shut.
  7. I know right? WTF are they made out of?
  8. I can't really help with this one cos my boy ran straight in there when he got home. Maybe just play around the crate for a while and throw some treats in there? Not sure! I did the whole close/open door for a few seconds thing too before I actually locked it.
  9. He fell asleep on me on the couch so I picked him up and put him in his pen and encouraged him into his crate and rewarded him with a treat. He snuggled up to his snugglepuppie (heat pack from lastnight still in, heart off) and has dozed off again. I keep the doors open on the crate when its in his pen and he's napping.
  10. I think it did help. I used it last night. He snuggled up to it and lay on it the whole night. Whimpering was really minimal and stopped by me putting my hand next to crate or quiet shhhhhh Will try it again tonight. It's been in his crate since he came home though so whenever he's gone in there he's had it with him
  11. Thanks! He is super cute! And touch wood he stays good at night. He whimpers a bit I close his pen gate and walk off but I'm guessing he'll get used to that. He only ate probably half his breakfast (if that) this morning so I'll put it in the fridge until lunch. I'm not sure if I'm soaking the dry food long enough...
  12. Tanks first night has gone well. I heard heard him fussing and I got him out of his crate a second time and he did a big wee. First time i got him up he did a little wee in the wrong spot...! ran away from me again! Haven't checked his crate but I think first night has been a good success. He's settled into his crate each time I've got him up with minimal fuss and I don't put him in - always encourage him in! Touch wood this isn't a one off night! Can I ask - do you all wipe your pups paws so they don't have wee footprints everywhere?
  13. Settled into his crate after about 5-10 minutes of soft whimpering. It's funny how he was in and out of his own accord and sleeping in there today but when I enticed him in and turned off the lights and stuff he wasn't 100% happy. He's snuggled up to his SnugglePuppy with the heat pack and heart beat in it. I've decided to leave the blanket and toy that has his mums scent on it that breeder gave me unless I really need them later tonight. Wish me luck! Now to wait for the toilet wakeup - I couldn't get him to go before bed and he had a sip of water eeeek
  14. I got my Frenchie today. He has four weeks free insurance with PetPlan and I will DEFINITELY be continuing it with them.
  15. Thanks everyone! I've had the best day with him. Picked him up at nine. Was back home at 10:30. Then he came to the hairdresser with me for 90 mins and was a very good boy. Home for some nap time and plays. Then out to watch my brother play rugby (don't worry - I carried him the whole time so he was nice and high up away from grass). He's been super good and relaxed around lots of people today! Bit of a more quiet day tomorrow for him - just a few pele coming around and he'll probably just come out to breakfast with us.
  16. Ok cool. I think I fussed too much last time when he went in the wrong spot and he went and sulked a bit. Since the post above he's done two wees and a poop on his pads. Here's some more photos....! Another question... If he don't finish his dinner, do I take it away? Can I put it in the fridge? He's been eating with his breeder (and I'll continue) some soaked dry food mixed with a small amount of raw beef or lamb mince. Should I just chuck what he doesn't eat? I'm worried the meat will go a bit yucky for him.
  17. How do you guys make your pups stay where you want them to toilet? My guy just pooped on his puppy pad. then i fed him dinner and I noticed he was sniffing around again so I put him on the pad but he kept running away and sniffing in other spots. he won't seem to stay on the pad when I want him to. I guess it will just take time!
  18. Yay! He ran into his pen and peed on the pad! I moved it. I think I had it too close to his food/water/bed/crate. Praised him like he'd just cured cancer lol
  19. Hmmm... Maybe my guy is just a bit slower. Next time he pees on the floor, I might rub some pee on the pad. I put some newspaper on it because my breeder was just using newspaper. I'll see how he does over the next few days. When he woke up from his sleep I put him on his pad but he kept wandering off and then I just missed him!
  20. I just keep missing him pee lol I grab him and put him on the pad/toilet paper and he stops but then he walks away and pees again so I grab him again.... Repeat, repeat. this toilet training thing will be fun. At least the is a tiny bit of pee on the pad now so hopefully he recognises the smell soon. The floor smells like fish and chips again
