I have an older dog 5 years old. We recently got a pup at 8 weeks old. For the first 2 -3 weeks the older dog would avoid the puppy by getting on the bed. He didn't want anything to do with the pup. He would look at us as if to say what have you done. Then they had their first game together and our older dog realised this could be fun. They haven't stopped playing since. They are now great mates.

I used Blackhawk and Ivory Coat on & off. When the company changed ownership i stopped. It wasn't as good and it wasn't an Australian Company anymore.

I've done that and cancelled the appts for the vaccines.

Do they use the L2 vaccine here or the L4?
-
Has anyone had or heard of adverse side effects from the Leptospirosis vaccine. Apparently there is an L2 vaccine, an L3 and L4 vaccine. I have read that the L4 vaccine has caused side effects in the UK. Lepto 2 covers 2 Serovars & Lepto 4 covers 4 Serovars. Lepto 3 is not available in the UK apparently. Apparently the vaccine does not prevent dogs from getting Leptospirosis and is meant to lessen the severity of the disease. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this vaccine. I will ask my vet at my next consult but would appreciate any further info Dolers may have in relation to the vaccine and the disease.

Pleased to hear this update. We all have bad days as we get older. Dogs as well as humans.

Agree with the dog walker option. Or Doggy Day Care if there aren't too many excitable pups there. Is she taking any natural supplements or medication for her hip and back issues. There are a lot of people working from home still. Maybe one of your neighbours who needs the exercise or who loves dogs. Much easier to walk an older quieter dog than a younger energetic one.

What about the people who persist in calling all dogs puppies. Even when the dogs are 50-60kgs they tell their children the dogs are "puppies".

Applaws dry food is not too expensive and can be bought in some supermarkets. I have used Applaws on occasion and the dogs seem to like it.

The dog had only become part of the family a week before this incident. Police are trying to locate the previous owner. First episode aired last night.

What is a "Fair" Price for a Puppy?
Deeds replied to Psycho-Magnet's topic in General Dog Discussion
It used to be that you paid more for rare breeds. Now you pay more for "trendy" dogs that are everywhere such as oodles groodles etc & French Bulldogs- blue or not. -
My vet always does the SDMA as part of the check up.
-
Chicken, turkey & duck are lower in phosphorus . My dog has veggies, rice & cooked chicken for dinner with some renal pouches . Beef is higher in phosphorus. Has the vet said whether your dog has acute or chronic kidney disease.

Did they take his blood pressure?

5 years ago I purchased a pedigree pup from QLD. I paid full price for the pup and it was on MR. Within 6 months the dog was diagnosed with a serious hereditary condition. As it had stunted growth (Giant Breed) due to this hereditary condition it could not be shown or bred with. It was extremely small compared to the rest of the litter. We were shocked at how small the pup was when we picked it up at the airport. It was half the size of the sibling in the cage next to it. Pedigree on MR. Several months ago I paid full price for a pup from a litter that were "all show quality". Extremely reputable breeder whom I had known personally for a long time. Although show quality all pups on LR.

I agree with the muzzle. If he does bite someone and they report it to Council you may be up for fines or court. Prevention is the key here. -
I agree with Rebanne. It sounds like an old dog thing.
