  1. i have just added Royal Canin Giant Breed to my Saint pups diet. i loke RC as i have had great experiance with it.
  2. she is fine with anethetic, went under twice last week. breeder is deadset against removing the jaw, and i must say i am not fond of the idea either. as for leaving it, the only cases where it was really left is in prairy dogs (where it is more commen) and usually it grows so large it suffercates them. but the vet was saying there was a case with a GSD where it was either left or remove (i didn't hear properly) and they tested after 3 years and there was no sign if it.
  3. Biopsy results are in, the mass is a Complex Odontoma http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/odontoma http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/1...ournalCode=jsap a very rare benign tumer now for decisions - 1. leave it and see (might disappear), 2. remove the tumer(margins are hard to define, so it they are still there they may continue to grow), 3. remove that part of the jaw (not fun) does anyone have any experiance with this type of tumer?
  4. Ok, just saw the vet. he's super! on thursday she is going in to have the area cleaned up and biopsied, because all that tissue around that tooth, particularly that little on that is almost sideways (the one before the pre-molars) could be a cyst, or tumer. best case: all is good and tooth grows through once it it opened up. worst case: it something bad and they will have to remocve that part of her jaw.
  5. How do you know it isn't genetic? Plenty of dental faults where the teeth are not in the right place are a result of genetics. Do you or the breeder recall the pup's mouth being severely injured at some stage? If not injury or genetics, what else could have caused it? we don't really know, but the thinking was, if there was not even a tooth bud there, then that would be a genetic fault, but there is a tooth, and it is fully developed tso it is and enviromental issue. that baby tooth was the last to fall out by quite some time, but shhe has always eaten RMB, mainly frames and wings intill she was big enought, but that could have caused the problem.
  6. Her Breeder had the xrays done. as the tooth is there is isn't a genetic problem, it was probably cause by an injury or something else
  7. you right, it is! this one tooth has caused so much damage
  8. i am going to find a bvet that will do something about it, as the vet who took the xrays said it would be causeing her pain.
  9. i held it up on the window and took a picture of it! LOL you can see my bad grass through the second pic.
  10. Juggernaut was meant to be a show dog, but her tooth but her bottom right canine never grew through. i guess this is why. has anyone seen this before??
  11. I know how you feel Warls, it is two years today since Brodie left. i miss her so much, and it kills me every time i accidently call Nauty, Brodie. Thinking of you, Warley. Crysti
  12. Nauty has terrible breath. she smells like she has just gone out and eaten a chunk of poo, but she no longer has access to any poo but her own and she's not eating that. she did use to eat poo but, like i said, she no longer has access. she is fed BARF with lots of Raw Meaty Bones. and her teeth are spick and span, except that one that never grew... hmmm... (light bulb moment, i will come back to this). Oh, and some stoopid vet recons she has ear mites *makes a derogatory hand gesture, suggesting what she thinks about the vet* She does have that skin problem, with i am trying to work out. so far i have had the carpets professionally cleaned to remove possible allergens, and she hasn't touched grass since New Years Day. i have also treated her with Advocate and washed her with Dermaleen. She sleeps on a cotton snooza futon. But she is still itching and she skin is still very red.my next course of action is to put her on the Kangaroo flavour BARF patties, and rule out a food allergy. What could be causeing this problem? my earlier light bulb moment was maybe her tooth that never grew is rotting away in her gum? is that even possible, and what are the chances of it? or could her breath be related to her skin problem? i was just reading on here about Charcos, and they have activated carbon in them... could i just add fish filter carbon to her BARF instead? othere than carbon, what else can i do to help this? i just wanna cuddle my pup and not gag! i intend to take her to my new super vet if i rule out food allergies, but i would like to do something about her breath, or can i put it down as another sign or her skin problem? Thanks Here is a pic of the Stinky Girl, Juggernaut
  13. put me down too, can some one PM me when we know more, as i am likely to for get about this thread
  14. So sorry to hear about Gizzy. you'll soon start to feel better.
  15. The dog i am looking after has just tonight come up covered in these same lumps! sheesh! *pulls hair out*
  16. thanks guys. this was a lot of what i wanted to hear. good advise from across the board. thanks i might even print this thread and take it to the girls at work.
  17. i work in a pet supply shop and if i am not trying to help find an indestructable dog toy for a staffy or a lab, i am helping to find something to stop their dog pulling. we really only have head collers, (Haltis, genlte leaders and i think sporn do one too) we have the harnesses with crorrrections, (like the sporn, and now the halti ppl have one too,) we have chech chains, martingales, flat collars and your adverage harnesses too (which most ppl seem to thing stop pulling) i was wanting to be able to give as much help as possible so i have come here to here to get as many opinions on these products and more, and even some otheres that we don't have and can look at getting in. right now i most often go for a halti, as i have used them for a lunging saint with good resultas, but with these and this the correction harnesses i feel they are used as a quick bandaid on the problem when the underlying ussues are never solved, as they aren't being used as a taining aid. i recommended a martingale for a couple who had a 10 month old bull terrier that had already chewed through a halti, and my manager though i was a bit weird and said a sporn harned would be better. but onced again, if they ever had to put this dog on a flat collar later on, they would have been bach where they are now. so any and all info on the subjuct would be super, and i think it should make for an interesting discussion. 18. When herb was about 5 months old he got this massive inggrown hair on his eyebrow, it was manky! he has had a few since, but Dermotic gets rid of 'em pretty quick.
  19. we saw the vet and came to the conclusion that the silly puppy must have sat on and ants nest! LOL stoopid Herbie!
  20. yeah, Herb get pimples on his face too, but these are hard, kinda feel like warts. my best guess is bites or paracites,
  21. today my pug has been licking the back of his left back leg all day. for most of the day i have put it down to him being a licky dog, he will quite often lick his paws and it drives me bonkers. but a little while ago i checked where he was licking and found 10-14 little bumps on the back of his 'thigh' in theat real thick bum hair, though one is in the thinner hair on the inside of his leg. they are hard, and not really discoloured, though the inner leg one is reddish, but he has been licking it. Does anyone have any experiance with anything like this? i have an appointment with the vet on Saturday morning for this, but would like to hear what you may think of it so i can do a bit of research or take him to the vet sooner of it seems more sinister
  22. the antihistermines had made a noticeable difference. she still is itching, but not nearly as much as before. so thankfully, i wound have to try the diet change. as for Eagle Pack, its is rarer than diamonds here in Perth. as i have been wanting to try me Pug on it. Hopefully when i start working in a pet supplies shop i can see if they will get it in, for my Pug. As for Nauts ears.... Grrrr, stoopid vet! before they were fine, dirty (like i said it was the eve of a show and that meansd ear cleaning day.) but he tells me, there is an infection there and made be buy the ear cleaner, but i already had Dermotic at home. i have used it twice so far, cleaned and medicated, and her ears are all sore and inflamed now, and she was yawning all night which tells me there is something more aswell, perhaps they are swollen too. So i am not treating her ears anymore.
  23. Thanks for that. i was hoping on advoiding drowsy ones, but it looks like i will have give up on that idea to try one that really works. as a reference, how long should it take before i see a difference? y'know, so i don't give up to quickly
  24. Thanks you that. the vet gave me a list of places, but most of them only did the diced meat, and i wanted bones, i didn't call south street pet supplied, but i will on monday. i think i will do the antihistermine thing first, and if there is no change then i'll adjust her diet. coz BARF is hard enought to get right without screwing around with protien sources. Thanks for the info every one.
