  1. raw food had bacteria in it, and a dog is defended against this bacteria in two ways, 1) a very acidic stomach enviroment and 2) a short digestive tract (so what bacteria enters, and makes it past the stomach, doesn't have the time it needs to populate to dangerous levels.) Raw food should pass though in about 6 hours, as it is natural and is what the stomach has evolved to digest. Dry food, however, is not natural and have a heap of reains and undigestable material, and therefore can take over 12 hours to pass though. so feeding raw food with dry food, you are keeping that raw food in the dog gut for a lot longer than normal and allowing any bacteria to populate to dangerous levels, and potential cause food poisioning. it is rare for gots to get it, but this would cause it if they do.
  2. yep, wrong. dry foods have sugar in them, will cause tooth decay more then their chewing them with prevent it. bones are far better for their tooth and jaw health. and as CDM said, it is important not to ever mix Dry and raw in the same meal.
  3. Yeah, Herbie gets them too. i am feeding him BARf patties atm and the combination of his face shape and the grease in the patty seem to cause it more, so after he's eaten i clean his face with a cleansing wipe for sensitive skin, this also makes him smell pretty.
  4. only psuedo drugs. i like to pretend i think i'm cool.
  5. why? you might get pseudo high and pseudo crash you pseudo car? or just not be able to play Pseudo-ku? LOL ...ignore me.
  6. Oh, would you please be able to PM that to me too, i have a friend at work with a dog with pancreaus problems, and she feeds BARF. thank you
  7. i think the white poo has to do with the lack of preservatives in a natural diet. preservatives don't break down in the gut, as they are 'peservatives' so they are passed and then preserve the poo for several weeks untill it gradually turns white... the only down side on preservative free poo is whne ppl visit and see white poo in the garden, they think you never pick it up. try as you might to explain that it comes out like that and they look at you like you are making excuses! LOL. i have explained this to my mum manys times....
  8. That would be due to Hyditid Tape worm. while i know a little about this, i still have some huge blanks spots that don't really add up so i am hesitant to advise. personally, with what i know, i feed raw roo, but only RMB (tails and back bone). never offal. and i worm my dogs regularly.
  9. you might not want to know this Willow, but your poo probably has salmonella in it too! LOL
  10. first off, i have no problem with e-callars. i learnt about how they are used at a training seminar with K9-Force, and if i could afford $600, i would have one. the amount times i have been face with a problem and sat there thinking 'if only...' but just thinking, when there is all this discussion and ppl so passionately against them, is it possible, to the achive the same results in training if the taboo 'ectricity' was replaced with a vibrating device similar to that in a mobile phone? as i type this i am sure this isn't a 'new' thing, but would it still achieve the same results in the same time and the like. oh, and i will mention that i am aware that it would only work (if it did) on the training method i learnt with Steve, using the lowest setting that gets a reaction. 11. yeah, True. i would actually eat KFC. LOL!
  12. did i mention that this dog was also morbidly obese?? To the OP, if your kids would not eat a balnced home cooked meal, but would happily eat KFC, would you find this an acceptable diet?
  13. personally i would find a quality food and stick it out, when the dog is hungry enough it will eat anything. but constantly changing food based on the dog 'not liking it' you will end up with a dog that will only eat the thigh meat off roast chicken cooks and one particular IGA supermarket (... My nannas dog). Pedigree is filled with cereal, grain, sugar, salt and food colouring. its junk food and that is why your dog probably likes it.
  14. if there is a sticky being made, it might pay to mention the bulbus glands too, we get a few questions about them here also.
  15. i have a customer come into work with the same question the other day, his breeder had told him to feed scrambled eggs and oats! i wasn't in uniform (was in on my day off, shopping) so i laughed out loud as he said it to one of the other girls, she then promptly told him o worked there and handed the customer to me... LOL oops.
  16. i would go to a vet asap, i would be freaking out MCT.
  17. i work at BP+G, and yes, on the other brands, the price hasn't gone up, but the roo has. i think it is now $23/$24 (if i wasn't dyslexic i could remember it LOL) out of curiosity, which store offers you that bulk price, if i can run it by my boss, i might be able to suggest it when i am trying ot sell the stuff too. i put a lovely couple onto it last week, they had just got a GR pup from a 'regestered puppy farm' (WA ppl might know where i mean) and it came with the oddest diet sheet. and the pup wasn't well. they lest the store very well informed, and i am so happy to help. this is why i love my job. Ok, i lied. the other flavours are $20.99 and the roo is $23.99

  19. Kramar have an agility equipment line. i am sure your local pet supply place will order them for you. PM me if you need the product code.
  20. just on the heartworm. you are right, it takes six months from infection for a dog to develope adult heart worm. so if they are under six month or have been treated in the last 6 months, then they are clear. the spot on treatments for heart worm don't kill the adult heartworm, so they are safe, (even if the are useless if the dog is infected). i am not sure what is in Nappy rash cream, but the ilium stuff (if i have the right one in mind) is a combination of teatments and is very broard in its treatment, so i would stick with that. if i am thinking of a different product, Dermotic is another broad treatment (but i think thats prescription stuff)
  21. yeah, i have been trying to picture the boardmeeting were they were brainstorming and came up with this idea! LOL either they were little sweet old ladies and have no idea, or that were pushing the limits of what they could actual produce and call a dog toy! LOL
  22. you want a gross dog toy?! we had these come in at work, we could not bring ourselves to sell them so we sent them back. check out the name! http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=10710
