  1. I no longer have my business but I actually received an email from the person who used to make these for me so have just sent him an email to see if he can still supply these for me for Sway. Will report back with a price incase any one else in interested before i place my order so please PM me if you are interested in one and I can let you know a price

  2. I thought you needed to complete Animals Studies Cert 11 and than do some extra modules which involved doing work experience a day a week at a vets.At least thats what I thought was invloved when I did animal studies about 4 years ago

  3. bah. Get a couple of E-collars and someone who knows how to use it. Teach them slowly, one dog at a time, that the rabbit is totally off limits.

If they have tolerated other animals then they can learn to tolerate this one. I wouldnt be jumping to getting rid of a pet without trying first.

thanks for the suggestion NekhbetI do actually have e-collars and know how to use them so may try again later

At this stage dogs are put away when bunny is in his outdoor cage as it has a small play pen attached to the front which they could easily jump over into so I think we will just stick with bunny out-dogs in.Don't think I would risk it any other way as one shepherd has a fairly high prey drive for small fluffy things

After the fight I did keep the dogs seperated from each other incase it was going to be an ongoing dominacne issue but a couple of days later I popped muzzles on each dog and reintroduced with no problems and never been an issue since

The dogs come inside of a night while we watch tv and we get the bunny out to sit on our laps and dogs are not overly worried about him being only about 1 1/2 mts away from them so it may have just been a freak thing that set them off and may never happen again hopefully. They are not allowed to gte off there beds while inside

  4. I was at the vets the other day and they mentioned my dogs were overdue for there vaccinations.I said I really wasn't planning on getting them done for 3 years since the new findings and they reckon they haven't heard much on the subject so were still recommending yearly vacs

  5. I had to take one of my dogs to the vets yesterday after an altercation with my other dog where she substained a punture wound. She also had a hot spot which was drying out as I ahd been using curash powder on it

At hoem I have bathed the punture wound with warm salty water but at the vets after clipping it the washed them both with some kind of anti bacteria lwash.Just wondered if anyone knows exactly what it would have been or is there anything else you can use at home similar or best stick to the salt water rountine?

It's not really for use now as the wound is looking better but just wondered what it is for future reference

  6. rabbit will probably be more an indoor pet and will just be brought outside for exercise when the dogs are locked away anyway, just thought that we'd let them have a smell while we were outside

We have had guinea pigs in an outside cage before and caused not tension as well as chooks

I do have muzzles for the dogs so maybe worthwile popping a muzzle on for a while???

  7. My daughter got a rabbit a few days ago abd he has been housed in side in a rabbit cage.WE also brought an outside hutch so he can get a bit more exercise and hubby just finsihed it so we put it out side and placed bunny in it and let dogs go up and smell etc while supervised.we plan to only put bunny out there while we can supervise or out dogs away

Anyway, after a few minutes of dogs sniffing cage and bunny the older shepherd who is the pack leader in the yard suddenly went for the other bitch and it was on.They were both going for it and only managed to seperate them with hubbies help.I have placed them in seperate crates but just wondered what the best way to reintroduce them.Hubbu does have some blood on him and I can see one dogs has a bit of blood near eye(not on eye)so can't seem to see much damage(more to me I think, have a bit of a scratch and a bruise on my hand)

I'm not sure if it was the bunnies presence that brought on the fight. The older bitch who started the fight does tend to put the other bitch in her place from time to time and the younger one submits but not this time.Dogs are 7 years and 6 years old

Obviously the bunny will be inside when they are let out of crate

    Suggestions???

  8. I've got a feeling I remember reading that in the GSD thread...there were pics too if I remember rightly

:D That's it - I've been trying to remember where I'd seen it. Try here:-

    http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...p;#entry4562841

they must have posted those pics in a thread in training as well in the thread i'm thinking of as I don't venture into the gsd thread and I've seen them

  9. I remember that thread,it was in a topic about harness's ad someone who had a gsd mentioned they made one up using 2 reg leads and had so many enquiries they posted pictures. They did send me pictures privately before they posted them but I don't think I kept them, will have a look

From memory one of the leads just run across the dogs chest

  10. Where do you get this from? Anything that can clean ointment from cockers ears has to be brilliant! I'm a groomer and I haven't found anything that can do this.
not sure about this specific ointment but i know there is a product called super cleanser and it is a shampoo - i have used it on cocker ears after long term treatment with drops and all that gunk has come out a treat :) if u have time to give a full bath give it a shot??

Is it maybe this one from Woofer Wares?Scroll down the bottom http://www.wooferwares.com.au/shampoo.html

If you are a groomer bedazzledx2 with an abn you should be able to buy this as they only sell wholesale

  11. Go back to your early days (pre e-collar training) "collar conditioning" regime. Pretend it's not on her and interact/train your usual way (as you do when you have not been using it).

It sounds to me that although you might have done the "collar conditioning" regime before you began training with the e-collar, you are now only using it situational specific (eg. antibark collar use).

Thanks Erny, thought that may have been the case

I don't normally pull the ecollar out like that but I had just had enough of the whining tonight

will try and do the same with the bark collars too and restart the collar conditioning again

  12. Any suggestions for a dog that has become collar smart to e-collars

I thought I had done a good job with training the use on the e-collar but haven't used it for some time.Unfortunately one of my gsd's starts whining around tea time and it sometimes gets so loud, especially when you go to take dinner out it ends up like a scream.Tonight I kept closing the sliding door as soon as she started whining but after about 10 attempts I pulled out the e-collar and once it was on there was not a peep so she is obviously too collar smart.

What suggestions does anyone have to reintroduce it so she's not switched onto it?

I do use bark collars as well when I go out sometimes and it's too hot to put them in the crate and have discovered that she must move it sometimes and still barks
