  1. Looking to get 3 dogs mats for my lot for inside and wanting something thats can be thrown in the washing machine and dries easily.Don't want anything that has the filling like pillows in it as it's a pain to wash, something like a doona inside that won't seperate like filling does.Don't want hessian bag ones, would like something that looks nice

I have had baby cot doonas before and they work quite well for washing etc but they are worn out

Any ideas where I can find any?

  2. I got one lot that were absolute crap, can't remember what the sellers name was but the pics were taken on like a pebble-crete driveway or similar.

The Vebo one's I have 9 of and a puppy pen and they have been the best and the cheapest by far, with delivery the next day.

ETA: SNAP Cazstaff, you have a collection too LOL

    was it this one SBT123?

Yep, they were the one's, the fronts don't stay held together and the bolt part on the catches is short and barely goes across. They were also flimsy. I've got 2 of those in the 36" and hate them, the Whippets are the only one's that use those.

    thanks for the info

look's like I might go with the Vebo website than :)

anther :) for Vebo - they also sell on Ebay but I found their website was cheaper in the end ....

I have the biggest sized crate for the 2 boys and its great, quality is excellent, delivery was superfast and such a reasonable price

thanks for the heads up about the Vebo website, they are $10 cheaper on their website than on ebay

  5. I'm looking to buy another wire crate(I stupidly sold my 2nd wire crate)

Anyway I currently have a Life Stages brand one I purchased from Pet Barn for 1/2 price a while back that is 107cm long.I'm currently looking at ebay to buy one as they are a lot cheaper than pet shops regular prices and wondered if anyone has brought one from either All Pet Homes or Ezy Pets on ebay and what the quality is like?

  6. Although I tend to agree with Abigail, you might want to note that competing dogs (whether agility, obedience or conformation) still have to be vaccinated....and very few clubs allow titre tests for antibodies.

Isn't is pathetic that such clubs are still stuck in a time warp? About time they pull their head out of the sand and start

reading and learning a thing or two! So many dogs having to suffer auto immune diseases simply because of sheer ignorance! :)

My current obedience is currently debating this same subject. They had a meeting the other night with a vet guest speaker but I guess it depends if the vet is for or against yearly vaccinations as to how they came across

  7. Just wondering who here is entering the Wollongong agility trial on the 23rd of may? I will be there with Kuta and bells on!

I might be there but not entering as we're only beginners and don't think we're up to entering a trial

I train at the wollongong club so might get there to help,we are moving the following week so will have to see how I'm traveling with packing

  8. if you are thinking of going down the whistle recall track checkout this youtube clip out of Pamela Dennisons Training the Whistle Recall DVD

She suggests using a pealess whistle(from sports shops)she reckons silent whistle are broken whistles

I can now recall all 3 of my dogs from fence fightening using this method where as trying to recall them over their barking was a frustrating venture

takes about 1 /2 - 2 weeks or so to be fully relliable and something you need to still practice everyday of their lives

  9. I used to use Advantix on my dogs for tick prevention but owning 2 large dogs and a small one it works out quite expensive applying every 2 week so for the last 12 months or so I have been using Preventic collars. Now I have never had any ticks in the last 3 years we have lived here in Wollongong but at the end of next month we are moving and while it's only actually 4 minutes up the road it's to a very bushy area(Mt Kembla)and a friend told me that ticks are bad up there. She does not live there so not sure where her info comes from(she lives 20 mins away)

Has anyone had unsuccessful use of tick collars?I know that all preventatives are not 100% successful but don't want to risk my dogs

Any other alternative suggestions that are easy on the wallet?

  10. to the people who have polished floor boards and have gotton scratches on them do your dogs stay in side a fair bit and do the run and play inside as well?

We are in the process of buying an older house that has ploished floor boards(not sure what kind of wood though)but our dogs(2 x gsd's and a foxie)mainly only come inside after dinner and just lay on their mats/crates.They don't run around or anything wild as they know if they can't keep quite they go outside so please tell me they won't damage the floors by just walking slowly on them as hubby will be dissapointed if they do any damage(he's not the biggest dog lover  )

  11. We will be moving house at the end of next month and my dogs immunisations were due back in Jan but I really don't want to have them done again with all the new findings but wondering how they will go when we move into a property that is about 60 yeas old. There is currently a dog living there.I'm just a little concerned if they may pick something up not have immunisations up to date

I may have to have them done at some stage if I need to put them into kennels though

  12. I have used the Ezy Dog leash extensions. They have a clip at one end and a ring at the other. They are plaited nylon (more woven) so are very strong as well as slippign freely even on long haired dogs. DD collars are meant to sit high around the throat and not to be on a long leash anyway so you have control over where it sits. They're under $10 each :(

so you don't have a floating ring than?

  13. Use a dominant dog collar. Its a slip collar like a check chain but nylon, and sits high on the neck around the throat area.

before you use this though please email me or get a trainer who knows how to use them to show you. You should be able to fix his pulling/lunging in one day with this collar and no harsh yanking required.

Does anyone in Aust sell the Dominant dog collars?

I have one from Leerburg but it really needs to be a touch shorter but i don't want to pay the huge shipping prices from the US for just one collar

  14. Hmmm i'd grab a 3m tunnel and cut that in half to make a chute ;) . Air dogs sell chutes.

Not sure if anyone has seen those laundry hampers that pop open (I use them for camping). The look just like the solid part of the chute and have the sprung wire inside. I was thinking to get one of those from the cheap shops and attach a chute on the end. I would assume Spotlight sells some kind of material similar to that of the actual chutes.

    similar to this

Great Idea.I purchased an Oztrail Storage Cell yesterday on special for $9.95-Norm $24.95 to try and make a chute. Not sure what to use for the material part yet?

It's heavy duty reinforced vinyl.60cm long and about 50cm across.Just have to see if my shepherd can fit her rear end through it yet

    post-6329-1269944923.jpg

That's a good idea. Where did you get it on sale at?

I think it's just a locally owned Camping store-Getaway Camping is the name In Wollongong.

I could always post one off to you if you can't get hold of something similar although I guess by the time you add postage it won't be too much cheaper than norm price

If you can find a shop that sells Oztrail stuff they should have them
