  1. I've also messaged a lovely Doler who might have foster room.
  2. Hi @Kim.T Welcome! Great advice in this thread, I can only add, if you have a young small breed then encourage the raw meaty bones. Smalls not used to bones can have an aversion to chewing and keeping up the habit not only helps with tartar into older age but is a kind of enrichment. Choose carefully, not bones they can swallow or crack/fracture teeth on obviously. e.g. I'm a bit scared of whole chicken necks being a choking hazard.
  3. LOL great idea, we're always coming up with them here and they fade to nothing. There just happens to be Vegan restaurants in an area packed with restaurants. No coincidence though, great media coverage coming up to the biggest time of year for donations.
  4. I still don't understand why they went to the media. Specialists always give you an estimate. And obtain a signed agreement before they do anything.
  5. If it's a matter of pain killers now or in the future do ask about Gabapentin/Neurontin to see if it's suitable. Much better than NSAIDS long term. I'm sorry, I have no experience with denervation but I'd love an update if you can. Big hugs for you and Opal.
  6. Yes we just wren't allowed to lift up tin or play near wood piles etc. Avoid them un general and wait until they could be shoo'ed away from steps etc. All the sensible stuff. I don't think I ever encountered angry/frightened snakes until I moved to Canberra, walking on Mount Ainslie and saw brown snakes rear up.
  7. As a kid, we grew up with red bellies and were taught not to bother them. The ones living around people & dogs didn't seem too fussed and would sprawl out on steps or on the road so you just let them be. Obviously they weren't terriers, mostly kelpies and heelers. The most dangerous things around for the dogs were the paralysis ticks.
  8. Eek, not a great spokesperson. I'm not going to put myself through watching his ramblings. He's gotten in $100k worth of trouble before for gobbing off nonsense on FB.
  9. A Delta/NDTF trainer puppy class would be ideal. It sounds like it's really the owners who need to be trained or refreshed on puppy problems. I've never really known a 'vicious' Cav. Happy to be corrected, they are more of a breed specific rescue. I'm in Sydney and it's so horrible today. I wouldn't leave a puppy out there. Brrrrr.
  10. There are pet specific road transport companies.
  11. Much better written article than some I've seen. It's really tough going at the moment. We all knew this would happen but I can't help but feel that the spike in dog attacks is also somehow related too. In particular, dogs that weren't socialised with humans because of lockdown. And/or with owners who for any number of reasons let all the training and even containment go way down the list of obligations when making ends meet is a priority. Or as they say in the article, yes people have lost interest or want to move on with their life minus dog obligations. Sad but true. I try not to focus on the negative reasons for surrender inquiries (it'll just do your head in) and just think about the dog's needs.
  12. Using the article info you just have to google 'Pine Mountain Warrego Highway pet supply', the results will come up. https://www.facebook.com/stocksyardproduce1991/posts/pfbid02PGmdqnsV2FR5Um1zpkPtSGq8RUySHPiCHcrR6CEvQC4NBYHaYCBSPM5ms2sDdDLfl
  13. No, sorry I was not responding to you, just in general.
  14. I am sad to see the amount of anti-rescue sentiment on Dol. Who cares what buying or adopting is called. It's all semantics. As is whatever you believe the term is for ownership should be. All I ask is people love and care for their dogs for their entire lifetime.
  15. Scam. Can be reported. Dollar amounts (proof of selling) are against FB rules. https://www.facebook.com/policies_center/commerce/animals That's why sellers ask to be called or messaged directly and can't use phrases like -'for sale'.
  16. Any reason you have the dog back but not refunding? As far as I know, consumer law means you refund if the 'item' is returned.
  17. Given my real life experience with backyarders vs alternative registry vs ANKC I know who I would choose.
  18. Snuffle mats and IQ puzzles basic stuff but so fun.
  19. Definitely sense of humour OMG. So funny. I'm absolutely sure I'm not imagining things. And a great way of saying they are p*ssed off with you. Silkies do the 'cold shoulder'. Are other breeds here great at shunning? They all definitely communicate with us.
  20. My orphan pups need to be encouraged to chew. So I was online shopping. https://www.budgetpetproducts.com.au/search/java+wood And they are from coffee trees which I though was toxic to dogs (unless it's just the beans and such). So I didn't buy them anyway.
