  1. Wouldn't it depend on the individual dog? Some dogs may have high scores but not be affected as much as others?
  2. I think when the report comes back it has the breeds average on it
  3. Isn't the lower the number the better? And perfect is zero? (I could be really wrong here)
  4. Yep as Loz said I feed the meat/veg mix, and chicken necks or frames which I get from the same place for between $1-$2 a kilo and sardines Suz has started all raw too and she's really happy as well I only plan their food once a month, and stick it all in a freezer in the garage
  5. How frustrating Just keep doing training at home, so that when you get there you have the basics covered (sit, heel, drop, focus, etc)
  6. I will make sure I have that attitude, cos at the moment he probably senses I am unsure of how to react to it, and it revs him up more & Ed is my first dog full stop (not even in childhood) so its all a big learning curve for me!
  7. lol Glad I'm not the only one with a brat then! He will tug when excited and will release so I might give that a go The pole idea sounds interesting too The seminar looks good, will think about whether or not to do a working spot, might be better for me to not have him there, and to really be able to watch the others and concetrate
  8. Yeah my main goal in my own life at the moment is to get some patience and Eddie is sure teaching me about patience lol It is good to have these things to use and test myself with
  9. Cool, I will save this thread It's becoming hard to get into the good agility clubs, with waiting lists, etc but I'm in no hurry really Thanks for the help I'm on a mission now though to learn about and get the foundations right and make it better for both of us!
  10. lol Only if you didn't try banging your pup on the counter!!! When Ed was little I thought he was never going to stop biting our hands, and it hurts!!!! But gradually, when he relaised he was ignored when he did it he stopped, and I don't even remember it happening!!!
  11. I need to be faster then!!!! I will work heaps on the ground work, the jumps ad equipment will only be a minor minor part just so you don't think I am trying to run a whole course with him!
  12. Thought I better clarify what I mean I put Ed in a sit stay and walk to the other side of the jump Tell him over and he comes to be, barking and excited and starts nipping (and sometimes it is all that it takes for him to get excited - 1 jump!) If I stood on the other side with a tug do you think that would help? So the tug comes before he gets a chance to nip and bark?
  13. Ok, I would say that at the time great dog was a bit too advanced for me Though I did like the way he taught the turns, etc, with a tug toy Actually that might help me with Eddie's excitement, to get him to tug after a jump (or would that be praising his overexcitement?) I guess if I only did it after a relatively calm jump it would work
  14. Just read your edit too, I will start adding those into our heeling and running practise
  15. And the dvd's you mentioned above focus mainly on foundation work? I will google it The dvd's I watched were mainly teaching them the actual equipment, and not so much on the direction Actually one that I watched was more on equipment but the first one I watched was Great dog shame about the handler and it was good with foundation work - but cos I watched it before we started it didn't make as much sense as if I'd watched it now I guess! (I only remembered what it was called because I googled Greg Derret, I will have to borrow it again)
  16. Is she ok again now she's been put in boiling water?
  17. Oh ok, I didn't think of that - only thought check chains were out cos they could strangle them Thanks for letting me know
  18. I wondered if anyone would ask about the lead when I put the pic up, he wouldn't normally have the lead unless I was holding it, but he does have his normally have the collar on I didn't think the martingale could be a problem, only that a check chain would be unsafe? If I'm wrong I will change his collar, but the instructor never said anything
  19. lol yeah maybe he does want me to do it with him How do I do foundation jumping when just getting him to jump one jump from a sit stay makes him go stupid? He will do different parts of the course no problems, it seems to be the jumps and the weavers that really get him going I have watxhed a couple of agility dvd's (Stella which ones were they again???) and they were good, but don't really go into dogs that are too excited, more into dogs that aren't motivated enough Alpha, I've just started doing heeling off to the side of the agility ring and it is going well!! I don't really ever do more than 2 pieces of equipment at a time, and more often than not only one piece at a time
