  1. What was said on the local news is police confirmed it was a point blank shot & the dog was then dumped off the road. No one will ever know what really happened. I'm talking years ago when we used to go hunting up there, people may not any more, and I highly doubt these people knew that anyway, seeing as they were not from the area.
  2. I said they were at fault too, I'm not saying they are not to blame. Just pointing out that it wasn't a farmer protecting stock as they were not near any. And getting hit by a car in that area is highly unlikely. I think the shooter is to blame also, I wouldn't pull up next to a dog & shoot it for no reason. Who would? If it was on a property, then yes, but on public land? The news report I seen said police confirmed it was a point blank shot. How could someone get a point blank shot at a feral dog? I live next to a pine plantation, and it's not uncommon to come across a dog, then see the owner a bit further away. I don't like it, but it's not uncommon around here. I wouldn't pull out my gun and shoot it because it was alone. As I said, not defending the people, but to say the shooter wasn't to blame is just.. sick, imo. ETA: Just seen you ETA  All good, just making a few points as I know the area.
  3. Yep, agree with the above. My dad & I used to drive through there when we went rabbit/fox hunting in the area. It's not a farm area, it's a pine plantation that a lot of people go hunting/4WD in. I know the owners are at fault too, but this was not a farmer protecting anything.
  4. Thanks! I knew I'd get it wrong

  10. It was a Jack! First time shown at Westminster, and only recognised fully this year. He is from Sweden, from Australian lines. Lovely boy. Given the Jack Russell isn't recognised by the K.C. Which countries have written the standards for both the Jack Russell & the Russell. Would an AKC registered Russell by recognised as a Jack Russell by the ANKC or would it also be listed as a Russell, a different breed altogether? I assume neither would be reconised by the K.C.? I'm not quite sure I understand your question.. The breed is known here as Jack Russell Terrier. They couldn't use that name over there (I mention why in an earlier post), so had to use Russell Terrier. It's the same breed. ETA: Given that the winner was imported from Sweden, where he was registered as a Jack Russell Terrier, I assume if we imported him to Australia, he would be registered here as a JRT. I know semen has come over, and that is what has happened.

  12. I don't usually show at Bulla, but I just love showing my old girl Pippa in Veterans I entered Gwen in the show to make the trip worth while, and she is now completly naked Typical. I'll be the one with two JRT's, one old & noisy, and the other bald
  13. They are JRT's, but they had to alter their name for AKC registration. I don't care what they are called, I'm just really please to see them in the ring over there.
  14. The smooth foxy didn't do much for me but I really liked the wire. The border was very nice and so was the Jack (sorry, none of this 'Russell' terrier nonsense; it's a Jack Russell). My thoughts exactly :) Why did they drop the Jack? same for dropping Australian from the Silky? They had a name clash, so had to name them Russell Terriers ETA: As far as I'm aware, the Parson used to be called the Jack Russell Terrier (AKC), but it was changed to Parson in about 2003. They couldn't re-use the name :)
