  1. Also if you were to download Open Office, the word processing application in that can convert to PDF.
  2. The difference between digital and "the other" is basically digital is a big computer, printing process all in one. Similar to your own desktop publishing setup with computer + printer only a lot bigger. "The other" is generally offset printing which is done on a printing press with special plates created for the various sections of the page. It is usually done in a 3, 4 or 5 colour process and takes more time and resources, hence the higher price. But overall better quality.
  3. Another is Ironcyclen (also helps with winter nose). But MOST important is, as Becks said, to keep her out of the sun. Brown coats are more prone to sunburn and fading than other colours.
  4. Thanks SparkyTansy :) I'm so glad I got him home, he's a little sweetheart!
  5. Could also be a liver shunt. Editing to add: I had a litter about 3 years ago. Two little bitches. One was smaller initially and had a bit of trouble feeding for a few days but we put it down to delayed start (she was born some 5 or so hours after her sister and had spent a long time in the birth canal so was waterlogged and shocky). She rallied and started feeding and gaining until about 4 weeks and hit a brick wall and began to go backwards. Diagnosed as a liver shunt and was euthanased to save further distress.
  6. I'd be getting some calcium into her quickly, that may help her to settle.
  7. Now I'm really starting to think I'm getting somewhere....twice weekly baths and a lot of work......saddle is still bulky and fluffy but is getting there...!
  8. The Lazor RX dryers are equivalent to the Pupkus dryers and cheaper. I spoke to one of the leading show vendors in Melbourne who is a qualified Electrician, they originally sold the Pupkus brand but now sell the Lazor RX as it is the same quality but cheaper. I personally didn't find the Lazor RX to have as much "puff" as the Pupkus I purchased and the Pupkus was cheaper. I also purchased the stand. Purchased direct from Pupkus and it was way cheaper than purchasing from other vendors.
  9. Won't go past the Pupkus now. Wish I'd had one years ago. Could have saved hundreds when compared to other "name" brand dryers I have owned.
  10. I don't mind seeing people use the rings to practice prior to the shows. It just REALLY peeves me when they use the rings as pottys before shows...
  11. Not all clubs will boot you off, but they'll certainly tell you pretty promptly if there IS a problem.
  12. To the OP. The Gundog group in Tassie is really quite friendly. Most will give you a hand if you ask them nicely. If the Ghostwind Weis are there (they are entered) grab one of them and tell them I said you to ask them for a hand.
  13. Ellz stated the specialist was happy to pass the dog on the extra misplaced eyelashes - to me this means the certificate would not mention the problem meaning the dog would be recorded as unaffected by the problem. If the specialist was going to note the problem that's one thing, but passing it means something completely different in my book - if this is technically not so then my apologies. Actually Sandra, it IS noted on the certificate. Apology accepted. Editing to add: If any of you are familiar with the AVA-ANKC Australian Canine Eye Scheme Eye Examination Certificates you will know what I am referring to. In the middle section (Examination of Eye and Adnexa) there are three sections. Instrumentation used on the left, diagrams of the eyes in the centre and Descriptive Comments on the right. In the descriptive comments on the right it has been noted "a few extra lashes".
  14. There are things in this breed which are marked as "breeder discretion" (even more serious things like Retinal Dysplasia and Retinal Folds - NOT Progressive Retinal Atrophy which is a different thing altogether, and even a couple of types of cataract). Incidentally, the dog in question isn't a Stafford but from a breed where distichiasis isn't known to cause major issues. The opthalmologist also said it wasn't "distichiasis" in his opinion a few fine, randome and irregularly placed lashes DO NOT equal "true Distichiasis". Either way, my dog is "clear" for all known INHERITED disorders by examination. Until DNA is available for all eye disorders in this breed, that is the best a breeder can hope for. And in this case, I specifically asked if the dog was clear for breeding and he said yes. He is a very well known and well respected specialist and I trust him implicitly. If I had any doubts whatsoever, I wouldn't have gone there.
  15. Depends upon the breed, the type of hair and where they are located. There are far worse problems than tiny microscopic eyelashes in some breeds believe me. And editing to add....did you realise that you had just contradicted yourself??
  16. I'd be looking into raw feeding to be honest. Raw meaty bones, veges etc. You wouldn't be feeding a lot of dry food if you feed raw (if any) and your dog would certainly benefit, not least in better breath!
  17. Just wanted to mention that this may be the case with some eyelashes in some breeds but it isn't the case in all breeds. I have just had a dog eye tested clear by an opthalmologist. He has a few very small, very fine lashes which the specialist was happy to pass. BUT, the same dog's eyelashes were NOT picked up by a generally practising vet under examination conditions. So it really can depend. Skully, I'd seriously consider an opthalmologist visit for specialist help. You don't mess with eyes, things can go too badly too quickly.
  18. Ooooh that is SOOOOO mean!!
  19. One thing that is also important is to specify CLEARLY that the puppy MUST be seen by a vet within a certain timeframe of purchase, perhaps a couple of days. That way if anything arises down the track, it can at least be verified that the puppy was healthy and "fit for sale" at the time OF the sale and any illnesses/disorders can be addressed then and there by way of return, refund or whatever. If the purchaser doesn't take the puppy to the vet and something is wrong later on, then they cannot say that the puppy was ill at the time of purchase and as they have already violated the terms of the agreement, it is more difficult for them to prove negligence or wrongdoing on the part of the breeder.
  20. Thanks for your support guys! Means a lot to me (and Mr Rimes). I don't for one minute feel certain that we'll do brilliantly at the Royal but it won't be through lack of trying. I even have a new suit, new shoes and a new Diva's Treasure armband! Oh and the BEST news is that I took Rimes to see the visiting opthalmologist (Andrew Turner) here yesterday and he is eye clear!
  21. Drop DOLer wayrod a line too....he does imports, exports and domestic travel arrangements.
  22. So pleased that Mr Rimes, aka Ch Ellz Cant Fight The Moonlight passed his ACES eye exam today at the age of 4 years. Always such a relief when you get the all clear. It's kind of like when you use your plastic at a cash register. You know the money is in the account, but you still breathe a huge sigh of relief when the transaction is approved!
  23. And another for the Les Pooches slickers. Just as an anecdotal sidenote. I have a very bad ganglion on my right wrist joint which has been removed twice but keeps coming back. It gets larger and more painful with prolonged activity such as sewing, typing and of course grooming dogs. Since I have been using the Les Pooches slickers on my dogs, I have had NO major pain episodes with the ganglion and it hasn't reached its usual large, intrusive size either.
  24. Update: Saddle is getting quite bushy now so I am having to sit on my hands to resist the urge to do anything to it. Have stripped a little bit out with the flea comb and it is starting to loosen now. The rest I'm scissoring underneath as it comes down to make it look more intentional. Here is a picture snapped last weekend. He was 2 days past his bath here but my friend was taking photos of Roger anyway so we thought we'd slip a couple of Mr Rimes shots in while we were at it. Oh and cos I think he's pretty and I wanted to share....Mr Rimes' face!
