  1. He's into the repair/sale of clippers and other grooming equipment, from what I see. I am having an identity crissis here. I've been a woman, a baker, a dog groomer, unable to afford my vet bills Then maybe you need to get some help? . "Human Clippers -vs- Dog Clippers" thread Or does re-reading your own post help to remind you? Read the first page of this post "When I informed her that the cost price of the medication was around $20 she was not happy. I have also worked in an equipment service industry and it was the practice to have a service charge and the parts cost was rounded up to the nearest dollar." Does this remind you? What has this got to do with this post??? You said you are having an identity crisis. I think erny was just trying help you remember who you said you were? No problem with that Penski but it is amusing to view this thread and see the conclusions people draw from little or NO information. It is also disappointing that many, not all, attack the person rather that the post topic. Every person that has put a case against Vet fees has been attacked personally. Read the posts re Mum and Emma, she has been attacked for working in Law firm. What has this got to do with post? What does the occupation of the Nicestman got to do with vet fees? Thanks baker for sticking up for me, I am only just the nicestman that gives away everything to others. Even vets do well out of me. :D :D They (vets) think life owes them something just because they do their stint in UNI. Not really all of them, some are very good (Eden/ Bungendore) and a couple out west/north, some haven't woke-up yet what life is all about. Lets get back to the thread anyway. I buy glides to use when sharpening blades from Taiwan for US$0.05 each FOB, I have to order 10.000pc to get that price, by the time they arrive here they cost me around AU$0.08 depends on the US$>AU$ at the time of payment plus freight. I fit one FREE to every time I sharpen a blade, if someone who is even not my customer needs glides, I stick half a dozen in a envelop, and post them FREE I even pay for the stamp, it is common decency. This is where it changes between myself, and others. A company in the ACT charges AU$3.00 plus GST for the same item(each). A very large mark-up %. They buy theirs from a large pet product company in Sydney, so one of them is cheating on the prices, with a massive mark-up.
  2. For a fee. What's your mark-up %??? price now. Anyway ladies/guys, it has been great playing with you all, I have to go to bed with my disabled cockatiel, I need to get some sleep so I don't make any mistakes tomorrow with you know what. Cheers hope we meet again.
  3. For a fee. What's your mark-up %??? price now.
  4. How about the Italian loaf? It's currently baking. You can pick it up at 5am Uuuuuummm-------ok I'll have all my blades done for the post at 2.30pm,------------see you at 5ish. will you put some apricot jam on the toast?
  5. I always get the bitey end *sigh* even at work if we need to medicate a dog or bath it or something, me gets the head, its not fair No not a fresh poster. I am almost worn out and need to get to the bakery for tomorrows orders Dont forget my 2 high tops and the dozen Lamingtons, will pick-em up at 1 ish.
  6. I didn't say that word because I knew which way you would go, and you will.
  7. I bake my own bread Man. Can I charge you 400% markup? And no you cant have the anabolics unles you're a body builder. I can charge a higher markup for those guys. Depends --- I would have to check you out first. I used to be in Sole Bros Circus once as a Trapeze Flyer
  8. Yeah I was hoping to get cheap horse anabolics from Russia and flog them off to my body building mates for a 400% narkup I have worked it out, he/she runs a gym that is over top a bakehouse, ha! raz we both will right, will you pick-up the bread for me, on your way home from collecting you know what.
  9. So not 10% like you suggest vets use. I see. Puggy was spot on. So what's the product? I like to support Australian companies and I'll keep an eye out. It looks like we have come to a stalemate. So can we agree to disagree that some vets don't do the right thing by over charging for their drugs. And can we agree to disagree that there are a lot of vets out there who do do the right thing towards their customers by selling the drugs at a reasonable price. Come on guys shake hands.
  10. Well I for one wouldnt buy your products. I support Australian companies where ever possible. Raz the joke might be on you. You probably have purchased a product supplied by me. Everyone buys bread
  11. Well I for one wouldnt buy your products. I support Australian companies where ever possible. Raz, you are in for a big shock once you finally find out who you are dealing with. Better throw-out all the items in your house that have made in China on them. If you say you only support Australian companies.
  12. Wow. And you baulk at vet fees to keep your animals alive? bravo. Here's a stupid question - if you have friends who are vets - why dont you just ask them what their markup is and to justify it??? How do you think I know what the mark up is? And if you read all of my replies you note that I do not baulk at the fees. I am happy to pay a higher consultation fee. Obviously your company would be broke if it was a vet clinic. If you are as educated as you say you are why are you being so ignorant? Now Now, we are talking about the over priced drug prices, we don't attack each other.
  13. Whats bread got to do with shampoo, conditioner, bushes etc
  14. Looks for the full moon. I have a feeling the poodle runs a grooming buisness. Ha Poodle, I thought you baked bread!
  15. That's a very obscure response. Should it have been said at all? It should not of been advised.
  16. Take the drive to Caseys Beach, the vets are very good there. Well I could tell you a few things about Casey Beach vets, but I won't, somethings are best left not said. But I am not saying they are bad vets, they most likely are very good, and they don't have a surgery like RPA. So I would say their prices are transparent, which this forum is all about.
  17. If you don't know by now what I do I recon you will never work it out.
  18. Boy stormie, what a crawler, I bet you get good drug prices for your animals.
  19. I dont know what sort of vets you go to but mine do. I'm also given a worst case scenario re costs, but that wasnt the OP's concern. She simply resents the fact that vets markup pharmaceuticals. Big deal. My baker charges $2.50 for a loaf of bread that costs him 20 cents in ingredients to make. So what - he's running a business not a charity. Now raz, I have baked bread, and it costs more than $0.20 for ingredience, there is gas/oil equipment/a girl to sell it, rent, and so on. If the baker was a vet you would be paying about $10 for that loaf.
  20. I think as the vet is shoving things in the front and back of the dog, the person should be told of the options first, they may not be able to afford the drugs. I am sticking up for the pensioners here.
  21. It is amazing that the pro vet lobby are happy to be "ripped off". The argument that everyone marks up excessively makes it an acceptable practice? When I go to a sporting event a bucket of chips are $5.00; I know I am being ripped off and there is a substantial mark up. I can elect to bring my own food or pay the inflated charge for the convenience. If I am experiencing financial hardship or have 5 children I will not buy. The scenario at most vets is you enter the consultation room, the vet diagnoses your pet and you are then confronted by a girl on reception with her head stuck in a computer. She hits the magic key and a printer spits out the bill and you are waiting for the surprise. The only fee you are aware of prior to entering the consultation room is the consultation fee. Who's silly fault is it for not asking for prices beforehand then? Quite frankly, I don't see it as "most vets" at all. Possibly YOUR vet, in which case - ask first, or get a new vet. Or don't go to a vet at all - your choice. And, NM - that's YOUR CHOICE to go there or not. You can say the same for doctor's surgeries. The 3 vets I've been to up here all have no frills waiting rooms, so if you keep going to a place that you're not happy with and you have a choice - more fool you! Difficult concept for you I can see Your so lucky, we only have 1 vet in my town, they are having a field day, I just told the dog not to get sick or he is cactus.

Poodle3081, that is exactly what happen to me, I think the nicer/posh the surgery the bigger the bill $$'s. We must have gone to the same vet.
  23. The dog didn't receive 10ml of Clavulox. Also the tablets come in 50mg, 250mg and 500mg. The number of tablets suggests it was either a short course for a dog 20-30kg using 250mg tablets or a longer course for a similarly sized dog using 500mg tabs. The bigger tabs are comparatively more expensive, but some vets with hearts will dispense the larger tablets to be given as fractions of tablets (1/2 or 3/4) because it's more economical. (Edit: Some clients also complain about having to break tablets) The price of the injection will be made up of an injection fee and the cost of the drug. In my local area the injection fee run between $13 and $17. Clavulox (as in product manufactured by Pfizer) is not a generic and is more expensive than other products. The injection also covers the first 24 hours of treatment. I will get the name of that vet, if it was a 40ml injection that's great value and he is running at a loss A 20ml syringe at my local chemist only costs $0.60 GST inclusive
  24. Gee, you are lucky to find a vet like that mine just put $1000 at the bottom. O! I did get a smile. Could you let me know his address, you found a vet with the fire still in his/her belly. I have NO problems with the fees, but when it comes to the drugs, I don't trust them. EVERY single invoice I have received from vets (4 in total) have consult + drugs on them. And after having had a very sick dog I have seen a lot of invoices. You need detailed invoices for insurance claims anyway. My last one following a dog attack: Consult (std evening) $64.90 Medication Clavulox $53.60 (15 tabs) Clavulox Inj $29.80 (administered at my request and knowing price) Bandage $11.60 Dressing $.30 Professional fees Tissue Glue $49.95 (tube) Total - $210.15 I would be happy with that, I wonder how much the Clavulox (15 tabs) cost the vet in the first place? Does anyone know?
