  1. Hi there "Fluffy Woofers", times have changed Oster have had their day in the pet grooming market in Australia, in their day they were the best for their time, but saying that they where the only good clipper around then , I cut my teeth on them, but these days there are better clippers on todays market with new up to date technology, the motor inside the Osters today are still the old motors of years gone by 25 years old in fact, ask this question to yourself (would I buy new 2006 Holden Commodore with a old grey motor 1954 FJ Holden" in it) your answer would have to be "NO" you are not that silly ;), but still to date the Americans are still selling us Australians their old motors, and we keep buying them. Their are clippers on the market now in Australia with the newest technology, a lot of groomers have given you a lot of good advise about which blades to use, and they are all on the right track . When you decide to buy clippers go, and feel them in your hands first before buying anything it must fit your hand, and you must be happy with your choice as you will have them for a lot of years to come. Oster are heavy & get hot quickly(friction causes heat) , because they still use brass bush bearings on the armature, and all they do every years is change the shape a little and in some cases they change the colour,a very deceptive practice. Oster parts are very expensive to replace, and the Osters have to be serviced, by Oster dealers which charge a arm, and a leg for labour only, not including the part prices. The newer clippers (Wahl,Andis,PetPro-Boss,Laube) on todays market all use ball bearings in their motors, and have less moving parts, and the parts prices are reasonably priced, and if you are a little bit mechanically inclined you can fit the parts yourself, with the advise of the person that sold the parts to you, and you only have to use a screwdrive or two. nicestman77.
  2. I there 'BittyMooPeeb' don't buy Dr Harry's clippers, i sharpen clipper blades, and the amount of times that people send me blades, and stories, about their clippers, and you can bet "London to Brick" Dr Harry's clippers are alway in the conversation, nicestman77
  3. Hi there, the dry foods lack oils which are need for a good coat in good condition, what I would do is to when you feed the dogs put a tablespoon of vegetable old/new oil mixed in with the Eukanuba, that will treat the coat from the inside out, add I would pop down to your local $2 shop, they sometimes have the shampoo called (Pantene) cheap, the one that makes younger girls look young again,IE; a couple fo days, well it works on dog coats as well, try it now, and time how long it takes for the coat to look just right for the days show coming up, the last thing want is on the day, hair(that you can't do anything with) it might even pay to rinse their coats with a anti dandruff shampoo just incase they have skin complaint needing it, do this now, I suggest that sometimes give the dogs a diet of fish (tuna/sardines/oil) as well but sometimes dogs that have been on dry foods can't tolerate fish , even give them fish oil tablets with some pecks paste on the outside of the capsul, most dry dogfood is packed with corn packers, and that leads to dry skin (corn meal), I would change their diet to food you prepare yourself your dogs will be much happier, the brand you are buying is not cheap, if you was to buy chucksteak the same value the dogs will be more healther as they need less food, remember dogs are K9 species (carnivora), not vegetarians(corn packer), some vegetarian people give their animals Brewers yeast that causes hot spots, and bad skin conditions, and are always at the vets with dog skin complaints. the only other trouble could be is that they are not cold enough to grow a full coat, a laundy is a good place to find cold nights, nicestman77.
  4. ================ Hi there, Oster get hot because they have Brass Bush Bearings on the shaft of the armature, plus they block-up with fur all the time, hence there is no ventilation through the inside of the clipper, and that will never change. Andis AG 2, have lots of cord failers, just where the cord goes into the back of the clipper, when it happens to yours, replace the cord with a completely new cord from the local hardware, that should fix the problem for sometime. Never cut wet/dirty fur, clipper blades don't like it, it is liken to thrashing a brand new razor blade in a bucket of sand, then using it to shave your legs, it wouldn't, and boy, it would hurt, clipper blades cut fur not dirt! Try not to use Kool-Lube, it only cools the outside of the blade metal which in turn warps the metal, and dries the metal out unless you re-oil every time you use it, plus they say it causes CANCER only in California, I bet. For Blade Tips go to: www.freewebs.com/clipperbladesharpening or www.clipperbladesharpening.biz I will advise you, if you ever require any info,nicestman77

  6. Thrive Blades need more tension than they have when new, the correct tension that they should have is 1kg, and is the same for all other clipper blades, this is best done by a clipper blade sharpening man/lady, most sharpeners don't know the correct tension, they just guess, if the tension is to soft the fur will get between the top & bottom plate on your blades, to tight the blade will get hot quickly, and the steel will distort, and then they won't cut, go to this site for more blade info,nicestman77.
