  4. Go to a DOG SHOW and just have a look at how many dogs are left in cars, windows up, windows down and lets not forget the trailers etc! BUT I warn you now DO NOT under any circumstances get the angry face on or put little sticky notes on the windscreens, YOU may never be seen again! ;)
  5. Sorry Boxagirl have no idea as mine always have a cold bloody tail in this weather! J This is what the net says The cause of limber tail is not known although it is thought to be associated with hard workouts (especially in underconditioned dogs), heavy hunting, and swimming or bathing in water that is too cold or too warm. Some owners reported that they grab the tail as a means of correction. Tail conformation (high set or very active), gender (males more frequently affected), and nutritional factors have also been suggested as possible causes. Ongoing studies suggest that limber tail is associaed with muscle damage in the tail with dogs examined early in showing elevated muscle enzymes eg., creatine phosphokinase.
  6. Sorry To hear Emery but I laughed my head ogff at OK resume normal posting now ! Thanks for the laugh and hope it all gets sorted! xox
  7. It is not my intention to put values on other people at all. Most of my conversations on here are disagreements because my values are apparently very different to those on here - which is fine. i happily and respectfully disagree with a lot of comments on here but i am certainly not trying to put my values on other people. I also am, respectfully, not a smart a** about it either! I normally just stop replying in these threads because i have tried to get my opinion across and that is all i can do. In my opinion, a dog should not be left in a car with all the windows up at any time of the year. And i respect that others have a very different view from me. Thats fine Leelaa but I am replying from the legal side under the Animal Welfare act that one would operate under in my state ( and I assume all are similar) this is the Legal side of it and not a personal value, just wanted to let you know. J
  8. Poodlefan is right, if the dogs are not distressed there is no harm, a window that a dog may be able to get a nose out and possibly bite a passerby is much more an offence, under the dog Laws, no offence has been committed until a dog is showing signs of distress, and in all my years or working I have never seen a distressed dog in a car, and I have seen a lot of dogs in cars! J Its not what maybe most people ( DOLers) maybe would do but one cannot put their values onto other people! J
  9. Aannie Koda is adorable congratulations J

  13. So sorry to hear Roxynhemi, I hope the vet is reporting the attack to the rangers and if known the RSPCA ?? Congrats on the obedience pass! I have just had a well known obedience Judge from east place an order for a coated Xolo pup for obedience and I am thrilled! J Thanks J. We don't know what dog did it... so have nothing to report really. Will you end up with coated Xolo in your litter?? Yes RH there are usually 1 in five coateds in a litter , although some litters have all hairless, I am counting on at least 1 coated and hoping ofr a litter size of four or five when the time is right!

  15. lol One should be able to list their own dogs faults ( everyone has them) A good breeder will know and will share with those that matter, a *** breeder has no faults! Not really an answer but an observation. J
  16. Congrats Alex of Houndstooth Studio A PROUD RSPCA supporter and great photographer well deserved win after all her hard and exceptional work way to go
  17. A point most miss ( or wont admit) is that there is NO true allergy free type, its the person who needs to be tested for what they are allergic to and go from there, ALL living things produce dander whatever breed even hairless dogs and this is what a large majority of people are actually allergic too, it can also be hair, urine, blood and other variables. I advise people to do a T shirt test, send a T shirt to a breeder of your choice with the dog you are intending getting, get them to keep the shirt with the dog and after a few days when you get it back see if you react, if no reaction have a test with the actual dog, this and KNOWING what the problem actually is saves a lot of heartache and widens the breeds one can look at! People assume as I have hairless dogs they are great for allergy sufferers and this is simply not true in many cases, through the many times we have had tests done and people with the dogs. So in a nutshell my advice would be to work out the allegry and go from there. Good luck. I have info on allergies at my web site www.xoloaus.com
  18. Sorry Julie I dont have anyone who could accept mine either BUT its ok I am againgst Dogszonline web site so I think I am pretty safe. Have a great night J
  19. easily C and I would speak to the WSS breeders here too, Angela Sneddon is very good. Thanks for your comment. I have been speaking with Angela for a while now and she has been such great help with helping me decide on the right lines and letting me know of any crossovers in the lines of dogs already in Australia. Thats great she is very knowlegealbe and it is a big step in importing and especially a new breed, all the very best with your import, trust me once is never enough!@ lol

  22. A day is more then long enough for Mason to be bullied. You did the right thing Mas and I am sure the breeder will find another home that's a better fit. Well I have to agree to disagree from my oewn experience it took longer but everyone has there own threshold ( I am known as a tough old cow!!) and proud of that but then again with my breed one must be ! lol I'm just like you Wazzat but I do understand that not everyone is the same. It comes down to a lot of things, personality of people and dogs as well as tolerance levels. We all live and learn! Maybe my expirences the last 12 months have changed me I don't think I would allow a submissive non-confrontational dog to be bullied by a dog I had on trial so I am probably softer then you two. If the dog is pinning the other dog to the ground and snapping at it day one and affecting his life to the point of misery and physical stress unless there was some reason I could not simply give the dog back there is no way I would persevere. Especially if it was causing confrontation within my family. My dog was bullied and it took a behaviourist and blood drawn (both human and canine) for me to realise enough is enough (and that WAS with behaviourist intervention and consultation with the breeder) although it broke my heart I rehomed him and now everyone both canine in human is in much better enviroments and enjoying life more. I was in touch with someone who knows a lot more than me yesterday before I gave the dog back and it would take some help from a behvaiourist to get the 2 dogs to live together happily plus i would need to possibly keep them seperate when I go out forever due to Mason being so submissive. Due to me starting a new job and working longish hours on the days I do work one dog being inside for all that time would not be fair ( and it would have to be Mason as he wont destroy anything). Plus she pointed out the stress impact on Masons allergies ( had not thought about this) and true as anything he has hot spots today. In all honesty I would not take a re-home again as I have no experience in this area I have only had dogs from pups. Also my husband hated the dog from the moment it had a go at Mason and he has a really short temper and he is very stubborn and refused to forgive the dog after that. There were a lot of tears etc yesterday but i truely believe I did the right thing by my dog. Yes I realise thats what I had to do and I had to take a year off work, it can be done BUT its a lot of work, thats what I was saying and I realise its not appropriate for everyone, (Hope that came out right) wasnt having a go at anyone, just we all have our values and what we can and cant give, I was lucky to have Garth Jennings who for me was excellent and well versed with a primitive breed. J

  24. Thats a shame Mason, a day is very short mine took weeks to integrate and a lot of work which I must admit I had the luxury of taking time with. J When the time is right I am sure aMason playmate will come along
