Are Tomatoes Bad For Dogs

I grew cherry tomatoes last year and, when I was picking them, I would throw any with split skins to Calypso - he loved them.

However, I stopped feeding them to him when I noticed he was getting really proppy on his bad leg.

I thought the acidity might have been aggravating his arthritis.

Still not sure it was the tomatoes, but he certainly improved after I stopped giving them to him.

Cripes, my dogs LOVE tomatoes and eat them like candy! Even the baby pups, when out to play, will find the tomato plants and start pulling them off. I have never seen any bad reaction. Know lots of other dogs, too, that love tomatoes. I belive that the stem and leaves may not be too great for them, but they don't seem interested in that part, anyway! They even eat green tomatoes.

In fact, if I want any produce for myself, I have to fence it in!

I've heard that they are ok for dogs but not for older dogs with arthritis or problem joints

Same with humans with arthritis :D

ETA: You can google "tomatoes and arthritis" for info
