My Dogs Have Kennel Cough

Had a neighbours dogs get KC late last year and the vets gave him antibotic cost him a small fortune and didnt help the dogs in any way.

Advice from everyone here suggetsed Manuka honey within a week they were both fine.

Use manuka honey 25 +, cost more then manuka honey from the supermarket but works better

I use it on all mine if one shows any signs and its worth the money.

I was told by my vet that the nasal spray for kennel cough treats more strands than the injection. Is that just the vet pushing the product?

Never heard of the "nine month" theory before.

Actually i believe the canine cough component only lasts 6 months & to be effective should be done 6 monthly.

Its rarely done this way.

We had a specialist from Sweden explain that dogs can harbour the virus for nearly 200 days & just requires the right situation for it to develop,this is why its an all year issue not just winter .

Because it can harbour the issue for so long the 6 month time frame is the only way to ensure greater coverage but this is rarely done & if the vets did tell people they would most likely say there being riped off.

Some kennels wont take dogs unless currently vacc which includes canine cough.some QLD kennels do ask for every 6 months.

Yes - it is somewhat "exxy" I agree. I have used it for the onset of Canine Cough which my boy had when he was younger. I didn't take him to the Vet and he did recover from the CC very quickly (symptoms disappeared completely within 2-3 days). This could have been because he only caught a mild strain, or it might have been because the AMH helped, or it could have been a combo of both reasons. But the cost of the AMH was no more than what it would have cost for a Vet consult (excluding any medications many Vets, I note, prescribe even in the absence of secondary complications).

And it was a natural therapy .

I keep AMH in the pantry. Lasts forever. It can be administered for a variety of applications and I can and do use it for myself as well .

Mate, 2 of mine caught it from the vet a couple of days after their last vac, they also were given a C5. This was only in the last few weeks.

Just curious but the vaccination your dogs were given, were they by chance Live Vaccine.

The reason I ask is that I have seen some certificates lately with the wording Live Vaccine stamped across the veterinary certificates. Some boarding kennels are now asking for three week incubation/isolation periods between vaccine (including booster shots) and dogs entering their kennels.
