I didnt think that owners could even buy vaccines but I have noticed some (at least, feline vaccines and individual canine parvo & kennel cough vaccines) available on pet websites. I need my dog C5 vaccinated shortly.. Can I do this myself (assuming that they are just subcutaneous injections)? Serket Posted August 8, 2009 Share Posted August 8, 2009 I've got no idea on the legality of it, but even if you are able to, it might be hard to provide proof of vaccination should you need to for boarding, etc. if they don't take your word for it. Just has a sheet typed out with the type, date etc. and sticks the label from the vial on the sheet. This has been accepted by at least one boarding kennel that I know of. Rappie Posted August 8, 2009 Share Posted August 8, 2009 The general public can purchase killed vaccines to administer to their own animals - that is F3 (cats), Parvac (dogs) and (I think) bordatella vaccine. Vaccines of any kind should only be administered to healthy animals with normal temperatures, hence the health check that is (or should be) part of the vaccination process by a veterinarian.
