He finally laid down today, normally he just runs and runs around all day.Dug a hole near the gate into the house on the verhanda and has made that "his spot".

He has no manners whatsoever, and i mean none,bu t he is very eager to please,so i dont think it will take long.

as much as they are stubborn at times, I have found them relatively easy to put basic obedience on, seeing they are so keen to please. I'm sure you will have him wrapped around your finger in no time. Glad the transfer will be uncomplicated. I take Maja to her first show this weekend...a bit daunting as it is also my first show....

Good luck,

i went back to a show for the first time a few weeks ago,and i was so nervous i did the two hands on the lead thing :D

Too many years of leading TB'S around on the studs i think!

Luckily though the dogs were a dream in the ring,so Maja may behave better than you are thinking she is going to!

Our next one is a kennel club show on the 14th,only with Edward though,Leila may go to a few others when i get used to it again.

I know what you mean about the two hands on the lead thing as I got pulled up on that in a handling class I went to a few weeks ago. It is definitely from leading horses for too many years. For me to be truly comfortable I really need the dogs on the other side as well....don't like this left hand thing! :o

How did you and Maja go Hunterhound this weekend showing?

Howdy

I was really pleased with her...she was great in the 3 - 6mth sweepstakes....lots of energy and was reasonably well behaved for her first time at a show. She was called in (6 called in out of 30 - that was the number entered in the catalogue) but didn't go further than that. Obviously got breed puppy as she was the only one in the class. The Group puppy class was early afternoon & it was so hot & humid so she was rather dull and tired by that point. I almost had to drag her around but she stacked quite nicely - a cute little greyhound won!! :happydance: So for our first attempt at a Dog Show (hers & mine) I was rally pleased. Unfortunately no pics....I forgot to ask someone to take one for me. :dancingelephant:

does anyone know if there is a breed rescue in QLD?

Came across an add for a purebred with papers boy being offered free to good home. Add sounds like they will do a good job of placing him but if there is a breeder in the wings or a breed rescue who could assist with putting them in touch with a good home it would be good to let them know.

add is here: http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Pets-Horses/...ue&AdOnTop=

PM centitout - pretty sure I've read here that she's organised rescue in the past.

Wonder if the breeder knows :(

ETA: At least he is desexed :) Hope he finds a great home.

Has anyone contacted the person who has advertised this boy? I might send an email just to check it out & put my feelers out for placement. Unfortunately I don't have many contacts in QLD, but I know of a few people who may. Centitout is always pretty good at assisting, as you have also mentioned, so if we all get working on it, this lovely boy might end up in a lovely forever home! It's going to be stressful for this poor boy seeing he is 5 1/2...what a shame!

Cheers

I have emailed the lady who owns him.....and it looks like it has been sorted for this boy. Most likely going to a man trailing home in QLD if he shows apptitude & willingness for the work - alternatively she has also been contacted by someone in VIC that also has hounds. Hopefully this will be a great ending as it does appear that the current owners have his welfare at heart!!

iling Day at Baylord

We held our first trailing day here since 2000 as we have a few new people interested.

Michelle Lynch, a specialised dog trainer who has been tutored by Craig Murray gave the seminar which hopefully will be a montly event.

2 x 5 month old pups with their owners showed up, unfortuneately another 2 had to cancel on the day.

The pups had a ball and did real well considering they were so young.

They sure were pooped by the afternoon.

The black and tan boy is Johnson - Baylord the Raider.

The black blanket boy is Jethro - Baylord S Man in Black.

They look great....a big day for the pups, I bet they slept like logs that night!! Well done & I hope it does turn into a monthly event.

Cheers

post-7731-1270459417_thumb.jpgpost-7731-1270459498_thumb.jpgpost-7731-1270459576_thumb.jpgAn update on Hudson.

he has been here for around 5 weeks now,and has settled in beautifully-he has the most lovable temperament.

He has been taught to walk "nicely" and gets very excited when he sees the lead come out

His topline is filling out,and his hips arent quite so prominent-looks better in the pics unfortunately,so hard to see how he has progressed.Still quite underweight, but he is getting there

Edward looks lovely - has he been to any other shows? - he looks neater than Earl - if you know what I mean - Earl has so much loose skin - might try getting a photo of him where he isn't sprawled all over the place :)

OK - he doesn't stack at all but at least he is standing up in this one *L*
