I would LOVE to attend a couple of the seminars (mostly the terrier & poodle ones) but I'm a bit of a nigel no friends and I can't really ask someone who isn't a groomer to go with me LOL. Is anyone from here going to attend? If I can save the dosh I'm going to do all 4 of the grooming seminars (don't really care about the business one at this point in time). The event is in April, so not an annoyingly inconvinient time for most groomers - and you'll able to claim some if not all of the cost through tax, I believe, as it is a business expense. Anyone keen? (I really want to do the workshop but I don't have a suitable dog, woe is me, hehe) And is anyone going to AusGroom '10? I'd love to go to that too... And am I right in saying that you are unable to get in unless you work in the grooming industry? luckypup Posted December 20, 2009 Share Posted December 20, 2009 yup...ausgrooms in Syd next year... not sure about the part about only being allowed in if ur in the industy tho... its for beginners too! ok so here's the dealio with Ausgroom...supplyers from all over bring equipment to buy...sometimes they have sales/specials...last year was pretty pathetic in terms of the trade show...hopefully next year will be muuch better! (altho i hear pet expo in QLD was absolutely HUUUGE so maybe pet expo is the way to go for equipment stuff)... they get international speakers from different countries (my personal fave is Teri DiMarino and YAY shes coming again next year hehe) who talk about different topics they specialise in. However, last couple of years they have had the 2 speakers but done sems at the same time, so you have to choose which one to go to. if you have a friend to go with maybe have 1 of you go to 1 and 1 go to the other...thats always handy hehe you usually get morning tea/lunch/afternoon tea, usually theres a welcome function the 1st night and a cocktail party another, and sometimes theres an outing somewhere (eg QLD went to Outback Spectacular, melbourne went to aquarium with drinks and nibblies) Personally i love the whole thing, networking and meeting other groomers is always a plus! My mum attended one when held in our state ,especially went due to the stripping aspect .What a total waste of money,time & loss of income for the day. It wasnt true hand stripping but carding & even then carding is alot of bolony. They tried to demo on a dog we breed9not owned by us) that hand been clipped for nearly 9 yrs,the dog didnt have the coat nor texture to have this technique used & they didnt seem to care, Having owned stripped breeds for 25 yrs it was a very disappointing display for wannabe groomers or groomers hoping to learn a new skill.
