Building Your Own Kennel

I want another kennel or two but getting hold of one in the size I want is proving a bit difficult. So I am thinking of building my own. Besides marine ply what other ply is waterproof? Should I build a frame then use weatherboards? I am quite a handy person but only have a basic hand saw and drill to work with and have never built something that needs to be so strucually correct so it doesn't fall apart within a few days or weeks.

Thanks, that helped define a few things. I want an opening to the side and a flat, slightly sloping roof.

I will try and take a photo tomorrow (my memory being what will let me down) of the kennels that my FIL built for the dogue and ridgeback. They are fantastic, the only thing I would change, is that I would prefer a hinging roof. Ours are solid roofs
