Stained Fur On Feet And Mouth

Hi all, How do you get rid of pinky stain on mini sch feet and beard ??????? Have clipped fur on feet but seems to be still stained????????? Have two girls one is fine the other has satins, both feed the same.Im baffled!!

It will be saliva.

She most likely is licking her feet which means she either has tinea or a fungi issue.

Some minis can be wet mouths & diet can play a big part .

Is it just her front feet/both feet ??

& does she have bad ears/yeasty/infections??

well its all four feet and when we walk she always has a wet beard because she dribbles like crazy. She is hypoactive unlike her sister who is calm and doesn't have an issue. I have clipped the fur around the feet so it doesn't look as bad but her beard is terrible, I cant cut that off and washing it seems to do nothing.

Does she scratch her ears? This is important!

Try adding some apple cider vinegar to the food and drinking water in an attempt to neutralise the PH.

Saliva staining - the dog drools and it's bacteria which stains the fur.

So, there are several reasons for staining - perhaps all connected - or not - any which way, the staining will NOT wash out!

most cases of the staining i find is diet, i always try to convert to RAW as i am yet to see a dog on raw that still has staining!! my little JRT is 15 this yr and had horrible staining everywhere and he is now on rae and doesnt lick and the stains have been clipped out so almost no staining anymore i love it.

The face u could carry around a rag like the newfy breeders and wipe her face alot lol i dont know about faces sorry

what do you feed.

We breed minis & have done so for nearly 25 yrs.Excessive drooling isnt typical of the breed.

Is she fat??

What do you feed??

Does she have any health issues??

Have you contacted your breeder.

As for raw V other ours arent feed raw & arent stained .

be very careful about adding anything to the diet to change the pH, minis are prone to bladder stones if the pH is to acid or to alkaline.

You say she drools, this is NOT normal for a mini, have you checked her mouth and teeth??

chewing feet can be as simple as a child sucking their thumb, some dogs just get comfort from it. Try to distract her if you see her doing this.

Thanks Becks - always interesting to hear breed specific info But would ACV really be a huge issue with this? ACV neutralises PH (as does colloidal silver) so balances alkaline/acidity. :D

I've had staining issues with a few of my dogs - feet and mouth started staining up but it *was* ear problems - dog scratches yeasty ears with back feet, licks back feet which transfers to mouth and then front feet. A pain to clear up.

The drooling does sound suspect....

Well she is not fat, she doesn't scratch her ears and she only drools alot when walked. She has always made grunting noises when walked and asked vet, well she has what the vets feels is an oval wind pipe that while breathing when walked squashes abit more than normal which creates noises and her drooling. I dont really know but she is healthy and happy and all I wanted to know was is there any help on getting rid of red staining. I know she is not perfect but she is our little girl.!! Even when she barks it ends up a squeal rather than a bark. I give them chicken necks or wings, little rissoles I make up with vege , bran, meat and egg and a very small amount of hills science diet. Also I add a small amount of omega 3 drops for dogs, vet approved. I also make them doggy biscuits from parsley, wholemeal flour, mozzerella, carrot,olive oil and water which are then doubled baked, they love them, pretty much they are fed well. They also have fresh fruit once a day.

Dry or Canned or both? I am curious as to why? I have mine on Hills at the moment (changed about a month ago). My little one has a sensitive tummy. What dry food do you prefer?

Our Dane always had pinky/brown around the mouth and legs....it's started to dissapear since he's gone on Raw.

From what I understand it can be caused by too much Yeast or a protein processing problem.

One of mine has the same problem.

Dental specialist said that it is the specific type of bacteria in the mouth that causes the staining.

He said there was very little you could do about it however getting the teeth descaled helps to reduce the amount of bacteria in the mouth plus clipping the hair off around the mouth also helps to ease any gum issues.

In dogs that have long hair around their mouth, like schnauzers, the hair is constantly being dragged into the mouth and across the gums, so the gums have very tiny lacerations on them, sort of like if you were constantly flossing your teeth only with really fine hairs.

If you trim a very small amount of hair off just around the mouth so the hair can't be dragged into the mouth it also helps!

I have one of the very small battery clippers that I use to trim around the lips.
