Agility, Tracking And Scent Detection

Recommended Posts

Thinking about wanting to dabble in some Agility, Tracking and/or Scent Detection. Can the dog be taught to do all three or is that not possible due to any kind of conflicts?

Can anyone recommend some good books on any of those?

Thanks

My dogs do the first two and I'm planning on doing the third too. If you want your dog to be the world's best agility dog then concentrating on one sport is a good idea. However, if you want your dog to try different things and have fun then there is no issue.

Agreed! My Dally competes in agility and obedience whilst my field bred ESS competes in retrieving and agility. She also trains for obedience and could probably put together a DWD routine if I had the time! Yesterday Em spent the entire day retrieving dummies and game. Tonight she ignored the birds to run an agility course :) I tend to focus on one sport for each dog as a priority (agility and retrieving, respectively) and the rest are as we can fit them in.
