Ok got her back, blood results tomorrow, however i wasn't aware that after getting the X-rays (i have them with me) i had to send them off elsewhere to get them reviewed :(

neither did I, I thought they just sent them off if you wanted them reviewed for AZ ratings, you could post pictures of them on another forum, and they could tell you what they think. Also I'd think if there was something seriously wrong the vet would of said something.

Thanks.. what other forum are you talking of ?

I am comparing them myself, i am well far from an expert, but it is helping me stay positive as they don't look bad..to me only that is.

I was thinking of germansheperds.com. Yeh I wouldn't really have a clue either if I was in your position, I'd be just comparing them to other xray pics and what people have said but I would still probably post a pic of them just to get others opinions and shut my mind up until I got expert results back. I would be confident they were positioned properly because of who you went to though.

I was really hoping you'd come back with some news this afternoon, just for yourself so you'd know. They didn't say anything at all about the xrays?

Nope, handed me the CD, receipt, my doggy and i was on my way.

Did you send yours off to get reviewed ?

No never had xrays, vet wanted to but I spoke to the breeder and a few other people and they said don't get them done by anyone but Karen or Rob and coz she's young to wait and if I'm still worried in 12months time then do it.

Ok I'm certainly not an expert but the hips look fairly good to me. The positioning is not perfect. As an example here is my now 2 year old male GSD. He needs another total hip replacement on the left side next year. But just for comparison for you. I would email the xrays you have to a couple of specialists for their opinion.

I do see the difference, how is yours otherwise, pain, walking, activity ?

Cooper is a mess, he can walk and needs to (build muscle mass) but he was 10 months old when diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. He had his right side done in Feb of this year and will have the left side replaced early next year. His breeder does all the health checks possible and he is a Working Line, just unlucky. But if he plays or runs too much, he needs pain relief and is a wreck for a couple of days. So it's just managing him at this stage.

I had some feedback from someone i emailed with the scans, they look pretty good, was the comment.

"Her hips and elbows are fairly good. The hips - the right hip is just slightly shallow and just slightly loose - nothing to worry about, the left hip has a very slight thickening of the cranial acetabular edge, again nothing to worry about, her elbows are normal. There is a calcinosis ( calcium deposit next to one elbow - again not an issue, won't cause any lameness etc.

Her hips would probably score around 6-8 on the right and 4-5 on the left. The pass mark for the "A" stamp is a maximum of 8 points in total with no more than 3 points in any one area. Certainly would not be concerned about either of her hips or elbows as a long term issue,"
