Front Attaching Harness Or Sporn?

just looking for some feedback, if you were dealing with a dog with only mild pulling issues(gets a bit excited when other dogs seen and will pull a little but doesn't pull hard, still easily held by my son...) would you go for a front attaching style of harness or something like the sporn that goes under the armpits? I'm planning to work with her myself for a permanent fix, but looking for an option to help in the meantime so that my son can easily lead her and work with her himself...

I use a sporn on my freight train pug, and it's got sheepskin under the arms so doesn't rub or cause any issues and unless she's pulling it's loose anyway. I don't have the one with the collar, but the mesh front.

Depends on what you want to do as well, as they have different 'responses'. The front attach will spin them around when they pull, and with the sporn you can deliver a correction.

I tried to get one today but work only had small and XL nothing in between. She has a nice firm harness in the same shape as a front attaching but the loop is at the back, I'm thinking I might attach a ring to the front myself and just use it as a front attaching, she's only a marginal puller anyway, it doesn't even worry me handing the lead to my four year old to hold while I hunt for things in my bag, etc as even she can hold her, she only goes to the point of a little pressure and then stops, doesn't keep pulling.

I have a dog who pulls very hard....she is 5 years old and was taught to walk in a harness which led her to pulling and believe me she pulls hard....we usually walk her in a halti so my daughter can control her but she hates it so I brought the gentle leader harness which is the front one and believe me it works and she still does pull a little but she is able to be controlled now and she doesn't have to wear the halti.....it attaches just around their belly behind the front legs and clips on at the front and I find it doesn't rub and she enjoys her walks now without having to wear the halti

I don't like the sporn ones purely because I have seen dogs rubbing themselves red raw under the arms (they didn't care that it was tightening). I use front attach harnesses and like them. But really it is a bit of use what's going to work for you (which I know is of no help at all when trying to figure out what to buy!!). I feel that the front attach harnesses take a lot of strength out of the pull.

KC what size harness do you need? I will have a look through my second hand ones (from rescue) and see if I have one I can send to you. No point buying one of everything until you know which one works best.
