  1. My doggy numbers have been slowly declining as age has taken its toll and since Danny died last year there has just been Jeune, Tamar and Bunter. Recently, a request popped up in my FB news for someone to mind a little dog while her owner was in hospital for a few weeks. Stella joined the group. OMG What a little darling. Hardest thing in the world to give her back which I had to do yesterday. However, before she left, I “took delivery” of Benji a little boy looking for a new home. And just to add to the mix, I am looking after Stevie for the weekend, a little boy from SDCH who is also looking for a new home. Photo is of me walking five dogs yesterday morning, something that hasn’t happened for a few years. Benji is in front of my legs and Stella is the tiny red girl in lower left corner. And this is Stevie looking resplendent in one of Myrtie’s coats. He was said to be very very timid and he looks it a bit in the photographs, be he is certainly not. He spent most of the night cuddled in the crook of my arm.
  2. Oh that brought back memories. My first dogs were two tiny weeny little Maltese puppies: one was 8 weeks old and one was 9 weeks. I was terrified. A friend of mine from Brisbane decided to come down to visit me as I’d taken a couple of weeks off work to get to know them. The kitchen floor was covered in newspaper and we would step gingerly around the place carefully avoiding little bodies. One day my friend said to me: Cynthia, do you think we will ever walk normally again? Still makes me laugh to think about it.
  3. You need to get in with those chimps you photograph so wonderfully, grizabella. LOL.
  4. I once saw an amazing photograph of a woman of 70+ who, having been a dancer, could still do the splits up a light pole. I did Hatha Yoga for a couple of years in my late twenties and wish I’d kept it up. I was never very flexible though and was never able to do even the Lotus. Today despite tottering around like someone of 100, I can still put my fingertips on the floor. What a shame you aren’t in Sydney; I could hire you as a trainer.
  5. You just stay and chat right here, Phyl - you are absolutely in the right place even if it sure didn’t seem like it for a while . Pretty much the vast majority of us here have or have had cross breed dogs LOL. There were just a few people who were a little bit enthusiastic about pushing their own barrows LOL. However, we won’t stay so sweet if we don’t soon see photographic evidence of this little bundle called Pebbles
  6. Juice if you go back to Phyl’s first post, she wasn’t looking for advice - she was looking for a dog. I am having difficulty with your rudeness and harshness, particularly when everyone was very supportive of you and your search and from what you have posted, your dog probably has a diverse ancestry and the people who sold him were not very nice.
  7. WOW - a pup at 80. Good on you Phyl. I’ll bet you probably look not more than 60, if that, and probably feel about 40, being a long time practioner of yoga. I’ve been babysitting a little L/H Chihuahua (only a few years old) for about 5 weeks at it has been so much fun. It is long time since I’ve had a young dog and she makes me laugh a dozen times a day. Unfortunately, she goes home on Friday - I was thinking of making a run for it with her, but I have to think of my three oldies . However, the organisation (Paws & Recover) has another even younger little dog waiting in the wings for me. . I’ll have to delve deep into the recesses and try to remember some training.
  8. Phyl, for what it’s worth, I thought some of the posts here were totally out of line, unwarranted and unnecessarily judgemental. Some people think because they are across an issue and know the ins and out, that everybody else should be, and no excuses if they aren’t. Like the old saying, they use a sledgehammer to crack a nut and in the process alienate the newcomer. That said, no matter how delightful, how beautiful, how gorgeously natured a little dog who is a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle is just that: a cross between a Poodle and a Maltese. There is no such breed as a Moodle. A little dog who is the offspring of a Maltese and a Poodle, despite whatever the website you linked wants to say and promote, is not a purebred, it is a cross breed. Again: there is no such breed as a Moodle.
  9. Ain't that the truth? However, I have been baby sitting a young doggy (about 4 L/h Chihuahua) for the past 5 weeks and I can tell you, it has been so much fun having a young very playful dog around. She makes me laugh so many time a day. It is going to be tough giving her back to her family.
  10. She may be bruised or worse internally. No matter how well she is moving, please still take her to the vet for a thorough check. Maybe the vet could prescribe some Valium. It transformed my storm phobic little girl from a quivering wreck to totally relaxed within about 20 minutes of dose.
  11. OMG. .....!!!! I am so excited for you. You have found yourself one beautiful mix of little dog. At 12 weeks this little one is going to be such a bundle of fun, curiosity, rejoicing in being alive. . Can't wait to see pix.
  12. Please don’t be desperate. You will find your little love. If you are applying on line can you add that you are more than happy for/would expect a local rescue group to come and do a house check? Have you had a dog in the past? If you have had, perhaps the vet could write a reference? ETA: I haven’t found any difference between males and females when it comes to weeing in the house before they are used to the place and are taught to go outside. .
  13. That is not being spoilt; that is being loved and understood.
  14. It sounds as though you are really looking at all possibilities, but can I suggest (not implying that you aren’t, but just reinforcing) that you actually visit pounds. Some pounds are wonderfully well run and have their listings right up to the minute, but some are incredibly lax and poorly run ..... and everything in between. How many people ring up pounds when their dogs are lost only to be told, “Nope nothing like that here,” only to find when they do visit that their dog is there. And worse, the dog has been euthanised.
  15. Gosh, I am in tears reading that K. She sure isn’t ready to leave you yet, but being such a great age, she just took a long time to recover from the overheating. Such a darling girl, such a treasure.
  16. Where there is a phone number, probably might be easier to phone.

  18. In Melbourne: Lost Dogs Home Lort Smith Don't panic. Your little girl will be there somewhere.
  19. Have you tried Starting Over Dog Rescue ... based at Diamond Creek Vic?
  20. Agree 100%. Up to prospective owners, of course, but having two little doggies together helps everyone ease into a new situation IMO.
  21. I’ve just had a thought. Chihuahua Rescue Queensland has a gorgeous little fluffy dog called Bear. They are looking for a home for him without other dogs because his past has not been good. Although they say he is not available for interstate adoption, I am sure they have contacts in Victoria who could do the home checks for them, etc etc. Bear is a Pomeranian mix and looks totally gorgeous. http://www.chihuahuarescueqld.com.au/adopt/dogs-for-adoption/
