  1. Please get a second and, if necessary, third opinion. I don’t want to scare or worry you any more than you already are, but there is pretty well nothing more over diagnosed in the veterinary world than luxating patellas. Yes, I will now be jumped on from a great height and people will tell all the stories of how their dog was saved from a life of pain and arthritis, but there are also lots of stories of dogs who were never the same again. Not so long ago, I rescued a pom from a pound where they would only release her if she had a luxating patella operation immediately. The vet for the pound said she had the worst case of LP she’d ever seen. This vet should be struck off because not only did this dog NOT have LP, her knees were fused - probably from birth. I had this little dog see three vets just to be absolutely sure.
  2. Can you send me the link, please Sezy. Want to see the little girl who will be holidaying at my place for a while. :D :D
  3. Yes, I am happy to foster. I spend most of these summer months closeted inside in the air conditioning, so she wouldn’t be alone for more than a couple of hours in any one day. To ensure her safety during those times, I will dig out my old crate and set it up in the lounge.
  4. How is Mini coping in the pound? Do you think she would be better off with a foster, ie me??
  5. I'm lost for superlatives, K ..... and vet nurse Marcus, of course. I'm motoring down to claim Secret.  Brilliant outcome.
  6. And some very very happy dogs And another
  7. LOL - two of my dogs regularly get to lick plates when I’ve had omelette (without the ham :D ).
  8. Unbelievable !! Ditto what Dreams said. I am sitting here breathless with relief so god knows how you and others must feel, Kirislin. CONGRATULATIONS to Mumma Neko and Grandmumma Kirislin :champagne: :whee:
  9. There are some naughty naughty dog owners in this thread
  10.  Any tiny bit of Neko is a treasure.
  11. Tamar (not to mention her devoted, dotty mum) says thank you for all the well wishes. She has been duly kissed and cuddles. I have so many lovely photographs of her and the others, thanks to Tdierikx. She has bounced back and, so far, doesn’t have the “tongue hanging out” look, but she is doing a lot of licking which I suppose is to do with the strangeness/discomfort. She looks a bit different because her fangs used to poke out. She ate normally last night and through the day had (dare I say it in case my cruelty is reported) a treat ........ roo jerky. In all seriousness, I don’t buy dog treats. Their treats are little piece of dried liver or roo jerky or chicken jerky. And, of course, from time to time bits of my vegemite toast. So long as it isn’t fat ridden, Danny gets whatever his little heart (and taste buds) wants. But I will definitely be looking in the supermarket shelves for froghurt. Icecream is a rarity simply because I am cannot be trusted and I am already too fat.
  12. They bring me to a sense of wonderment daily. Not all mine like yoghurt. Tamar thinks it is poison, LOL.
  13. Oh poor Arkey. What a lot of metal in a tiny leg. Heal well, Arkey.
  14. Yes   Everything is suspect - except the icecream. She hoed into that with barely an initial sniff let alone a suspicious one. Mmmmmmmm - yummy! I’ll look for those.
  15. Give it up, mate. You’ve said your lot. Don’t continue to spoil a fun thread paying tribute generally to the amazing creatures that dogs are and specifically to Tamar, a shy little thing who came through a big op safely and well. And for those who appreciate what this thread is all about, this is why I was amazed that Tamar wolfed down her brekkie this morning. She eats just to stay alive. This is a pic from a few years ago, but she is still the same. She will sit in front of a meal for ages and then walk away.
  16. Thank you for setting me straight. I’m off to report me to the RSPCA. :driving:
  17. That photo is from a while ago :) :) She has been a bit subdued today, but happily went for a walk this morning. She is a tiny thing - about 3.5kilos.
  18. :kissbetter: Read it again and you will see that I gave it to her as a treat and because of her dental.
  19. Yesterday my puppy, Tamar, went to the vets to have a dental. Now Tamar isn’t exactly a puppy as she is 12 years of age, but I call her my puppy because she is my only dog (apart from my first two from breeders) who was a puppy when I adopted her 11 and a half years ago  . She still looks like a puppy too. Poor girl drew the short straw and has always had dreadful teeth (Maltese x Shih Tsu) and eventually she had only her four canines and one or two at the back. Yesterday’s dental ended up with her losing those as well. So last night, I gave her couple of smalls bowls of icecream to cool down any pain and to give her a treat in any case. This morning, she ate a normal meal - wolfed it down in fact which in itself is a bit of coup but after having huge rotten teeth removed less than 24 hours ago is pretty impressive, I think. I well remember many years ago adopting a very elderly dog from a pound who had to have all his teeth removed. That afternoon, he was happily gumming chicken necks in the back yard. Amazing animals? I think so
  20. No advice, Isabel. I just wanted to add my sympathies. Huge burden of loss for you. I am sure when the time comes, you will find the strength necessary and I hope you are given a choice as to where your farewells are said. Sometimes it is taken out of our hands, though.
