hi kk we have people who choose to use and not use food and dont have trouble howevere i will say they shouldnt be woking that closely together at the early stages anyway to much risk with beginner handlers and if its advanced then the dog shouldnt be distracted by someone with food. I think the fact that people sneak food onto the ground is a bit silly they should either get on committee and change things or move to aclub that is more open minded about training methods

we go to a vca club you can use food in trianing a club that prohbits food sounds a bit archaic . Yes teach the focus as kk said i have a handout on teaching if you pm me your email i can send it to you yup id go a half meal before trianing as they are getting a fai bit of food in trianing try and use healthy treats

awww you need to move to vic and come trianing with us i could easily fall in love with that cutie

one other thing i teach focus before heeling and find that heeling falls into place much easier that way must add that puppy is the most gorgeous thing ive seen

i sit on the floor to do a lot of trianing or use a bench yup teach pup to catch the food and use a marker word to mark correct behaviour.

me too i always plan ahead so i know what my short term and long term goals are and how my triaing fits in wth them

in the drive trianing you allow the dog to run to the end of the tie out and lunge for the toy to win it idea being frustration makes her more determined is that right in TOT you dont want the dog fighting the lead so can you work on both at the same time or will they counteract each other

not sure but i would speak to the vca if its a club that is affiliated with them they would be able to give you the information ask for the rules and regulations committee person

no probs i tend to find you have to do the work because other people always forget so if you insists she sits and then call her away its easier than asking others unless of course your with a groupp of brlliant trainers and tey all do the right thing hehe

Hi k9 what age is the best to start a training in drive program

we have made our tunnels out of cardboard so they flatten out easily for storage i will introduce her to them over the weekend i have introduced a prey item a toy on a string that makes sounds when squeezed shes nuts for it already so i think she will enjoy it

we havea smooth fox terrier that i think would enjoy it there is a border terrrier with a novice title do you train at kcc

i spoke to the secretary of the club he said they dont have great numbers but that its getting more popular im going to take a loook next weekend

has anyone had much to do with this dscipline im curious how you went about training for it
