I was going to suggest Schipperke, until I saw the last photo, which look like GSD ears. Agree with the others, the pup is very cute. :)

That is so horrible. Poor dog, I hope it's ok.

Well, respectable rescue groups should fight fire with fire. At the moment due to all the sharing on Facebook everyone knows Pound Rounds (and think they are great) and if they google PR, they get multiple articles (yes they are the same) of what a good job PR are doing. Why doesn't another rescue group also do an article on the difference they are to 'other' rescue groups in that they foster the dog out to applicable homes and also don't save all dogs due to temperament issues. That safety of people and animals is more important than making rescue numbers?
-
If someone goes directly to PR and gets a dog from them and the dog bites a child or another dog, wouldn't that person veto PR not all rescue? A bit of research into other rescue organisations will show that dogs are taken into foster homes and are temperament tested in a home environment, often with children and always with other dogs. Taking a dog straight from the pound and then from a kennel, is a big risk in my eyes and something I wouldn't do...ever.

I have just read through the whole thread and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love happy endings! It would be great if those who fostered/rescued created a folder like you've done here of all the foster dogs in care and provided updates. Not only would it showcase the amazing jobs you guys do, but maybe it might even help find a home or two?

Border Collie Puppies Found - Hervey Bay Qld
poochmad replied to bordacollies4me's topic in General Dog Discussion
They are gorgeous. If they are looking for a new home, I'm sure you won't find any trouble rehoming them. Hopefully, though their owner is found and it was all a horrible mistake. -
And not only that, can you imagine the chaos? Dogs running everywhere, pooping, peeing, falling over the side? When I first saw it, I thought it was for dogs too and was disappointed, even though logistically, it would be a nightmare.

Happy birthday - from a sweet little puppy to a beautiful beauty!! :)

That was very nice that you took the dogs back. I think leaving a note is the best thing you can do, other than knocking on their door, when they are home. You could leave your telephone number if they wish to contact you to discuss anything. Hopefully they will do something to prevent it happening again.

Tbroils, this is your opportunity to put the record straight. If you have nothing to hide, why don't you answer the questions? And properly, this time.
-
Agree. This one of my main concerns. I understand the desire to save animals, but the way the pleas are done (and I will use Anne's word here) is sickening. Some people obviously don't have much money but are coerced into donating due to the 'plight of the dogs'. I don't know how you can sleep at night. I've never seen a 'rescue' behave like this. It reminds me of a scam like a pyramid scheme.
-
I disagree. I think the rescue group on here are wonderful and do a great job.

I cant answer for them or how they should go about setting up their policies to have queries answered and Im not commenting on their systems. Im simply saying that I understand what they are doing and why. If they were being harassed all the time then I can understand posts being deleted, but not when genuine questions are being asked. If I wanted to donate money, I'd like to know how my money was going to be used, which is a fair question for a charity. Also, on their 'about us' spiel it mentions they work with rescue groups yet none are listed or participate in the 'rescuing' of the animals. To delete posts when people are just asking general questions about the organization, raises questions with me.

Thanks for taking the time to post though you haven't actually answered any questions (you're not a politician are you?). 1. Where are the kennels located? Are these the same kennels where dogs are kept for long periods of time, therefore the dog/s in question are still in a kennel? Is this because in PR's mindset the dog is no longer on a 'kill list' so the numbers look good for both you and the pound as the dog has been 'rescued'? (this was raised by another poster.) 2. On the FB page it is deceiving that the donations go into a shared pool, rather than to the dog being posted. Isn't this misleading the general public? 3. The comments on FB again are misleading - PR comes across as a rescue group, yet then advise they need a rescue group...which is correct? 4. If comments / questions were kept online and answered, I'm sure the feelings here would be different. As it is, whenever a question is asked the post is deleted and that person can no longer post. That doesn't sound like you are protecting from trolls, that says to me you have something to hide.

Hmm. So much to say, so little time... If you care to read back through the posts you will note that some of the frustrations are legitimate questions such as: 1. Where does the money go? 2. If donations are received for a dog and they exceed/match the pound adoption cost, why is the dog still in the pound or showing on the FB page? 3. If someone advises they are willing to foster a dog, why does PR advise that the dog can't be released because there isn't a rescue group? I thought PR were a rescue group?? 4. Why are questions like these deleted from the FB page if there is nothing to hide??? I'm sure others have questions to they would like answered. BTW, I am not affiliated with rescue in any shape or form, I am however a concerned citizen questioning the ethics of a group who say they are 'for the dog', are there to assist rescue groups yet there is no evidence that any money donated to the dogs goes to a rescue group??

Oops. Double post.

But isn't the main issue fraud and/or scamming people?

Absolutely gorgeous, thanks for sharing. :) -
She's lovely lillysmum. Beautiful colours.

How sweet. Love that they cared so much to write a tribute. Just goes to show how much dogs worm their way into our hearts. :)

Sorry, but this made me laugh out loud, especially the sitting on the head comment! Every time I read this I laugh. You are funny! :D
-
No probs. I don't think they need to keep an eye on there for 'negative' posts...I mean, it's pretty easy to become a member here, isn't it? Now, we just need to work out which room it was and whether it was Plum with the knife or gun?
-
Because they don't want any dirt to stick to them. If people start asking questions, others will too.

After Heathers psychotic break I can't see some posts, is it just me or have they stopped people writing on their wall? yep, they stopped it after I asked about a little dog that got killed by a PR rescue. they responded by saying that person that adopted was told the dog had issues but wanted it anyway and they left it outside alone with the little dog. I asked, Is that not irresponsible placement? then ALL the posts by others disappeared Damn it! Now I will never know my answer!

Yes of course, I'm aware of that. I just find it interesting how quickly the posts were removed considering there has been no update from them.
