Three Cheers For Underdog Training
spoilt lab lives here replied to poochiemama's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sounds like my experience! He charged us $300 and all we got out of it was each person in the house should walk/feed/train/groom etc etc and that she will always be the way she is now so there is nothing you can do for her. Was a total waste of time. Great thread! -

Who Do You Think Is The Guilty One?
spoilt lab lives here replied to Tilly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh dear! This is the exact reason my backyard consists of 2 dog kennels, a large dog pen and nothing else. There are no beds, no pot plants and the hose is even kept in the garage incase they take fancy to it I got sick of cleaning up after everything they chewed so they dont get anything now! I put some blankets in their kennels the other day which lasted 5 mins so no more! ETA: As for normal GSD's Im yet to meet one! My partners GSD is the worst for destroying things. She broke out of a metal crate and shredded the bathroom once. Insnane! -
Question For Owners Of Reactive Dogs
spoilt lab lives here replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
My partners GSD is a reactive dog. To me she is un-predictable! She has let some people be near her and others she has snapped at. She will bark at some dogs/people and not others. Yesterday she was pacing around the backyard on guard, very alert and unsettled. She barks at other dogs who are 3-4 hourses away barking even though she cant see them! It annoys the crap out of me. -
I have a magna station wagon and cant fault it for a dog car. I went from driving a sedan then getting a station wagon with no worries. I didnt notice the size difference or anything at all. ;)

Lacy And Tully And Thier Quest To Become Delta Dogs
spoilt lab lives here replied to tlc's topic in General Dog Discussion
Not too much dog to dog testing at all. There will be plenty of other dogs around on assessment day but they are not tested together because its not about dog to dog interactions its dog to people interactions and thats what they focus on. -

There is one man who punches and hits when he gets excited. He has whacked Rams once but Ramses barely noticed and I now keep an eye on any movements which may lead to a whacking when we are with that man. Usually they just go quiet and take him in. Another guy barks like a dog all day every day except for when we are there. He is silent and watches every move Ramses makes. -
I was on the loo in the early hours of this morning ..the dog kennels are directly under the toilet window. The window was open and I could hear these loud booming snores! All 3 were huddled together and lights out!! Made me chuckle hearing how loud they were in the dead of night lol ANNNNNNNNNNND!!! They dont have any bed...just an empty kennel because they love to make confetti out of anything soft a bed like that I give them lol....Your big girl must be really sooky you meany leaving her for so long with a scrunched up bed! lol:P

What Do You Use To Walk Your Dog And Why?
spoilt lab lives here replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I use a check chain and normal lead. My leather lead has no handle thanks to a certain GSD who got bored one day and I forgot to take the lead off Ramses. Otherwise if that was in good working order it would be check chain and leather lead. -

Ramses is a licky dog and that is to our advantage as almost all of the residents cant use their arms /hands like normal people so I have to get Ramses to jump up on their wheelchairs. Often a lick of an exposed hand or foot is enough to brighten their day and Ramses loves licking! -

Ramses is a Delta Dog, he loves it. Although we didnt get a nursing home to visit but a unit of severely mentally and physically disabled people of various ages. Ramses loves it! He loves all the attention as the staff love him too. I remember waiting ages and ages for an assessment date and then waiting ages for a placement but its well worth the wait. -
Oh isnt it just!!! Ours isnt connected to zap anymore but they still wont touch it. In a few weeks I need to section the dogs off the main grass yard to try and salvage the grass and all im going to do is set it up around the parts i dont want them on and voila, dog free zone! Best money ever spent!

Buying From A Breeder's Very First Litter
spoilt lab lives here replied to Hemingway's topic in General Dog Discussion
My friend did. Bought a pup out of the first litter of a new breeder in a different state and the puppy was flown down sight unseen...only pictures and going on the breeders word for temprament. He appears to be fine and normal although at 12 months he is only half the size of a normal beagle..Not sure if thats normal or not. Personally I would do it but I would pick the pup from the litter myself (if possible) or let the breeder match one with me but Id always like to see the pups in the flesh before buying one. -
Dog Bed For One Lazy Pointer Puppy
spoilt lab lives here replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
I got a mat last night from Aldi, $14.99 on special. Its 137cm x 80cm square so its big enough to stretch out on. Its got a zipper on one end and Im going to add more stuffing to make it poofier but for $15 a bargain! Its blue fleece on one side with a black water resistant backing. -
I found also feeding larger biscuits. Ramses is horrible for this, he eats so fast he literally vomits it back up half way through and eats it again!! I got him supercoat large breeds instead of adult and found he was slow enough to not vomit it back up however I couldnt get it last time I was at PB so had to get the normal adult one and back to the same problems!

Cesar Millan Back On The Market
spoilt lab lives here replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in In The News
Im reading Cesears Way the book at the moment and in it he mentions she left him when they first got marriedbecause he was too much of a macho man in his ways with his wife. He said he had to learn to put his calm energy practices into his marriage instead of his "its my way or the highway" mentality. Shame to see them split.
