  1. Oh god, I am a mess after reading your beautiful tribute to your handsome boy. What a heartbreaking thing to happen. RIP Rocco you gorgeous boofa.
  2. Thanks for the kind words. I so want to put that first one on the back of a horse like a jockey.
  3. I only just saw Ralph for the first time on Facebook last week. Am so so sorry to hear of his passing. He looked like a wonderful big boofa that I am sure was very much loved & cared for. Have just been looking at the flickr photos & all I can say is... amazing.
  4. Thanks. The lens is a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8. So far I have been really happy with it.
  5. Found this little guy hanging around our pond so thought I'd grab a few pics of him with the new lens hubby bought me for xmas. I love how using this lens at f2.8 gives such a nice soft background effect
  6. I still think it was the funniest thing, he had the same look as when he gets a chicken wing or something really good. I would never have thought to give them to him....
  7. I dropped a cube of ice on the kitchen floor tonight & before I had a chance to pick it up, Diesel ran up, grabbed it & ran out to the front yard to eat it. I thought it was a bit odd, so I called him back & handed him another cube which he took with delight & again ran out the front to enjoy in privacy. Does anyone elses dog do this? Clearly they don't get brain freeze like humans do.
  8. Just thought I'd add this little guy. I found him sitting on one of the Cordylines in the garden today.
  9. Diesel is also a suckler, though he doesn't have any stuffed toys now that he is older because his favourite game is tug & he would sucle the toy until it was soaking wet then come & put it in your lap to play tug with him. :D With his hand me down teddy he inherited from Max the Dobe who was a "destroyer".
  10. +1 Can the OP atleast tell where this paradise is located?
  11. Maybe join the amstaff forum if you would like to start talking to other owners & get to know some breeders. I know someone has already mentioned health testing, but just wanted to emphasis the importance of it. Health issues such as Hip or Elbow dysplasia aside from being quite distressing to deal with in a much loved pet, can be very costly to treat & the costs are ongoing. So please make sure you do your research before talking to a breeder so you know what questions to ask & what to look for. Best of luck in your search for a puppy.
  12. Might be worth posting in the Amstaff thread as well. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&start=3390
  13. No tatts, but OH has a shaved head & wears dark shades while walking MY dog who happens to be a bullbreed. I would hate to think people judge my OH badly for giving my dog the attention he deserves.
  14. Thanks. When we moved in they were very poorly done so we re-bagged them which was a bit of a learning curve but well worth it.
  15. I had some guy telling me at a dog park that chinese people would hate my dog etc because they are so scared of them. I just nodded my head & didn't point out that my mother is Singaporean chinese & has owned GSDs (my grandfather bred them) then dobes most of her life & is my amstaffs biggest fan. Having owned larger dogs all my life, I haven't noticed any real reactions from chinese people in general. Though I often get nasty looks from older australian ladies when walking my dog. ;)
  16. Yes, it's a baby blue tongue. Not sure about the other strange creature, just found him doing that...
  17. Hubby nearly ran this little guy over with the wipper snipper the other day, so caught him & put him in a bucket to keep him safe until he had finished the gardening Spidey has been in our front garden for a couple of weeks now, he's almost reached "pet" status Another strange creature found in the garden... this one seemed to be following me & has since set-up camp INSIDE the house
  18. So sorry that you guys are going through this & on Christmas day of all days. Hugs to you & sending healing thoughts Grovers way.
  19. I'm planning on buying this after xmas. If your friend is like myself & finds it easier to pick-up tips when watching someone explain it & show the results instead of reading about the subject, it might be worth a look.
  20. So sorry to hear of your loss. RIP Dulcie & Bubbas :D
  21. What are you using the Sigma on? Do you have any sample pics you could post up? With the Nikon equivalent going for twice that, the Sigma might be a good option...
  22. Ok, so I rushed ahead & bought the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 because reviews I have read seem to say it's a great portrait lens & am thinking I will also get the Nikon 50mm 1.8 as well. The more I think about the zoom lens, I am most likely to be shooting either surf shots (was really wishing I had a zoom when we were at pipeline last year) or wildlife shots where the object is moving... so would need something faster. So think I will need to really save up for that one!
  23. I bought a D200 with the 18-55 kit lens earlier in the year. I've been pretty happy with the results from the kit lens but now would like to get another lens to play around with. I have been looking at the nikkor 18-200 & have been reading a lot of great reviews, but am not sure I would use the super zoom enough to warrant lugging a big lens around as my standard walk about lens. The other option I am looking at is replacing the 18-55 with a Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 & then getting the Nikkor 70-300 f/4-5.6 for when I want to use zoom. With budget of $1000 max, what would be the best lens to buy as a next step when I am mostly photographing landscapes, people & my woofa?
  24. Go Chopper! I love how some of the dogs seem to have a real "technique" while others I'm just looking at them thinking "thats so going to hurt when they belly bust into the water". ;) I bet thats something an amstaff would be good at (if they weren't a big sook like Diesel) because they have the springiest back legs ever.
