  1. I've tried him on quite a few natural supplements, the current one I have him on apparently worked miracles on a great dane that could barely walk, but i have not really seen any real results from it, but perhaps if I hadn't tried and had him on all these things, he could be worse? The cartrophen injections certainly didn't do much that we could tell.. The only one we haven't tried him on yet is the rose hip oil, its something I'm thinking of ordering and trying. However 'if' this problem is neurological, I don't think any of these things are going do much tbh..
  2. Ok I might look into him then Ness, since he does work Sats !! least Michael gets sats off. We have noticed all the driving back and forth lately (with the eye specialist appts) has not been easy on Joey, probably been uncomfortable for him.. Perhaps also thats why hes been extra quiet too Thank you :) I'll ring him up during the week and talk to him about Joey. I don't think the eye specialist is keen to see him again, he thinks its the best its going get.. (even tho its still not 100 percent) He does know about Joeys other problem now. Michael and I personally think its because Joey's immunity system is probably low and thats why its not healing as well as it should be..
  3. Thank you Rural Pug, Pers, Char, Rach and Stellnme He's doing Okish atm, theres times he looks a bit alert and wags his tail, and other times hes just way too quiet.. He toileting ok (he just had the one accident recently inside with no 2's). We have decided that we will start giving him soft food for his tea because we don't want him if he starts getting any worse with his sensory ,choking on harder food.. He does take longer to eat now which is not like him. It is difficult to know what else to do/try and its an ongoing battle we have going on in our heads every day.. could/should we do this.. There is one vet (not close by) that does Acupuncture but she only does it Mondays and Tues, so thats out for us. I guess at the end of the day, we are just going make him as comfortable as possible for how ever long he still has with us.. the sun is shining so we taking outside more to just graze on grass and let him enjoy plodding around. We will do our best by him whatever it take within our means but we won't be putting him through the stress of lots of invasive tests or any operations. The Neurosurgeon did recommend he stays with him for a day at the clinic for more observations , but don't think we are going put Joey through that. We think hes better home with us than stressing him out somewhere hes not familiar with..
  4. Ive been feeding Miah different raw minces.. one being chicken mince from frames (from the butchers), but now shes older i give her also cut up sections of the actual chicken frame. sometimes her poos have been whitish (due to chicken frames), but i also make sure i give her some raw veges with her raw mince meals and after any bones :)
  5. Hope Crumpet is improving ? have the pathology results come back yet?
  6. I agree Some breeders even give you x amount of food to start with as part of their puppy pack. (Miah's breeder had)
  7. Thank you Trish :) x I'm bit puzzled why they wouldn't have run some blood tests still ? especially if cancer is a suspect.. He had this tiny fit thing this morning and sort of fell to one side but recovered very quickly within secs
  8. Thanks Ness and the girls.. another couple were there today with their dog, didn't look good for their dog either.. they will be feeling very emotional tonight as well
  9. no its not good Rural Pug... thank you, we sure can do with all the hugs we can get atm. Its all come on really quickly..
  10. Hi everyone, thanks for asking.. nothing is conclusive yet but the specialist did lots of diagnostic tests and is pretty certain its not his spine as previously thought but there could be other things going on like a tumour pressing on his spinal cord ( towards the neck) another possibility was he could have a tumour in his brain. None of us are keen to do a MRI on him at this stage, given his age and hes not good with GA. and couple other factors. Hes given us some things to think about, but the outcome does not look good at all He did suggest we bring him back for a day to spend with him so he could observe him over x amount of hours. Our heads are still spinning.. He was quite thorough and spent a lot of time doing non invasive tests on him all over.. He checked his heart too and said it was really good ! so that was one positive thing, even tho we knew that already :)
  11. Thank you , ive been a bit of a mess today with it all :) x
  12. Wishing your dog all the best with her op.. what a worrying time for you. I did read about someone elses dog with a similar problem to do with the spleen the other day on my facebook. Cant remember the details and what the outcome was.. I do know a young woman who had her spleen removed last year, and shes been fine since, shes even a few months pregnant. now . Think she has to always take medication tho? Hopefully you can some more reassuring replies.. Thinking of you and sending positive healing thoughts to Crumpet.. ps.. i found that fb comment about the persons dog's spleen, his dog did have to have it removed, has been doing ok since, but was waiting on results ..
  13. thank you stellnme ;) He had a very bad night last night (panting and licking his lips lots), hes finding it hard to toilet now (no 2's)and just looking so listless .. our heart is breaking. i couldn't sleep much last night.. hopefully tomorrow the specialist will know whats going on.. hes not meant to have any painkillers until hes seen the specialist but we going still give him a small dose.he cant have nothing! his eye procedure he had done hasnt even been successful.. poor little man..
  14. didnt you say in a past post your Mother had health issues and that was her concern about you getting a puppy ? I might have the wrong person? I know you would do most of the looking after the puppy, and offer it heaps of love and care.(you sound like a very caring person). but I must admit i have chronic health issues and i have found it bit harder than I thought it would be ..but i am luckily i have a supportive husband to help me with Miah and the rest of our pets Luckily Miahs been a fairly good and well behaved puppy for us but puppies still are a lot of work regardless. I do hope you get one tho! you sound like you deserve to have one in your life ! x
  15. I agree with Pers' comments, wise words :)
  16. i do recall you posting in the past about wanting a puppy oneteaspoon, hope your mum comes on board soon ! puppies are a lot of work i have discovered tho but lots of fun ;-)
  17. We were lucky that Miah's breeder had started toilet training her already before we got her at 10 weeks. We just kept putting her outside when we noticed her doing certain actions that meant she needed to go, and praising her heaps during and after. She also had our other 2 older cavs to learn by. She still has the odd accident with no 2's early hours of the morning if we don't wake up in time.. luckily we have tiles, so can be cleaned up easily. It really does come down to routine and positive rewarding when they are toilet training. I was going get one of those doggy pee trays, but didn't in the end. BTW im not a first time doggy Mummy owner, but am a first time puppy Mummy.. altho Miah is not a puppy puppy anymore, that went way too quick!
  18. Ness i was getting confused where it was. Michaels made a consult appt this thurs to take him there then back to the eye specialist appt on Friday.
  19. Im so sorry to hear that about Kenz, Ness, not good when they are still young too ! When i had this lady work on Joey the other day she said she could tell he was very confused and drugged like and hes not even on that strong painkillers yet! My husband was going try in one of breaks today to ring back specialist today and have a chat to him about it all.. and see if we can match up eye specialist appt and this specialists for the same day Joey is mostly laying down sleeping, he still wags his tail when he does get up tho.. I dread for it to get any worse.. BTW i will give Joey a hug, thank you x
  20. 12 is a good age, all you can do is make them as comfortable until the time comes *hugs* Joey's Mum (Renae) is 11 and altho she had a nasty scare several months ago, shes doing ok remarkably. She still moves perfectly for her age :) The treatment hasn't really improved Joey as much as I would have liked.. Please given Charlie a gentle pat from me x
  21. Yeah i might to try doing that Pers... altho his eye one is on Anzac Highway which is not too bad for us but the other one is at Bellevue Heights.. We will try to work something out.. I was hoping if he had to have a MRI we could get it done on the same day, which is possible but we wont be able to afford it just atm (the MRI).. Hopefully the specialist will have a bit of an idea before requiring a MRI
  22. Hi Rural Pug i know lots of people here, as i run a local fb group (and with living in a country rural town) Most of them work and busy with children or are elderly that dont' drive far. One neigbour has stopped talking to us since we rescued her dog ages ago, and the other one are old and frail.. our other neighboring houses around here are mostly holiday houses. We don't have really any family we can call on.. I also think my husband would want to be the one to take Joey as they have a very special bond and he would want to be there listening to what the specialist has to say. As it is he will need to take another day off again soon for Joey's eye specialist which is in Adelaide.. which is no where near the other specialist ..both other sides of the town to each other Hubby has already asked for another day off next week to finalize some of his Late Mum's personal stuff that can only be done during office hours. Least with us humans we do have some visiting specialists that come up here to our town, so im lucky most times if i need to see one for my health problems. We will try to see what we can work out..
  23. Sorry to hear about all your troubles as well with your dog, its horrible isnt it watching them struggling I had another different type treatment done on Joey today similar too Bowen, and she didnt think much will get him 100 percent better, but like you are doing, she suggested just to keep doing whatever it is to keep him comfortable in the interim..*sigh* How old is your dog Char? Thank you for your kind offer of support x
