  1. doesn't surprise me they found one up this way I know the SA Cavalier King Charles Spaniel are assisting the RSPCA with the Cavaliers. I haven't heard the latest yet, but it is thought quite a few of them might be pregnant..( (the Cavs not sure of the other types of dogs that came in) I cant help with the fostering as our hands are full, but i did donate some dog food.
  2. Our Cavs get it a bit. I just wash them around the eyes when it gets really bad, also use Coco and Rufus tear stain removal to help a bit. Someone told me to use baby oil under the eyes once the stain has been removed to help build up or spreading more ? I also trim the worse of it out as well (when its really dried up) with some clippers. Our Miah was bad for a while ( shes on a raw diet) but has come good lately. Was told it can happen at teething time for some puppies. Nothing wrong with ours, altho Joey has some eye issues atm (which is being treated for) but he has had tear stains over the years when hes had no eye issues.
  3. One dog I owned in the past licked his paws heaps because of allergy issues. He had to have treatment for it. When our current dogs (Cavaliers) do it, it mostly means they need their anal glands cleaned It can be because of a few different reasons including boredom or because theres a sore or grass seed stuck in them..
  4. Come up to Goolwa, lots of people have heir dogs off leash, not just in park/beach areas Just kidding sorry, its a pity many of the dog owners are not more responsible up here
  5. I just added some more pics of Miah to her blog for anyone that might be interested :) http://julesluvscavs.blogspot.com.au/
  6. Well Miah is now just over 6 months old, going very well, very easy going but shes so highly excitable.. I think shes going through a toddler stage atm She was desexed recently but it didn't stop her from acting like her normal self . It was quite a non event actually. Nothing seems to faze her. Been waiting to see if she goes through any of those fear phases ive read about, but none so far *touch wood* We are totally captivated by her We are hoping to start some training courses with her, as I think she will need the extra stimulation especially for her mentally. She hops like a kangaroo when hubby takes her for walks
  7. Our Cavaliers are like seagulls especially Renae and Miah I would never feed anyone elses dog, and I get very upset when we have been out and people have tried to feed them without our permission doggy treats/their last bit of icecream etc
  8. How exciting Lisa!! Jess your puppy is beautiful, Congratulations!
  9. If you would like to sketch a Cavalier or 3 lol, let me know. Seems like you already have plenty of people taking you up your kind offer :)
  10. I was going to get some for Renae when she had an elevated liver enzymes issue, but was told it can clash with some medications, and she was on a couple different things at the time including artificial bear bile tablets, so I decided against it. Id be checking with the vet for any drug interactions to just be on the safe side? or even google about if there are any with what your dog is on?
  11. Im sorry for you loss *gentle hugs* I remember Joey grieving for a while after we had Jenna PTS.. it took a while. See how she goes over the next few weeks, I think they pick up on our emotions as well x
  12. And the fun begins Steph Miah is naughtier and more active now at just over 6 months old, its like shes going through the toddler stage. She does sleep through most of the night now which is good, but hardly naps during the day now. Miah has lots of toys as well but prefers to chew on other things that are ours grrrr lol
  13. Ktn, sorry to butt in but I went through it a few months back, with my older Cav (I did a post in here about Renae) . Renae's levels are now back to normal. Shes still not 100 percent, and we still suspect she might have cushings, but have decided because shes eating ok and not losing weight, not to go ahead with any more tests for now. we dont want too subject her too much as i think her health issues have caused her some anxiety.
  14. I think beach areas can be a problem, i live near a beach and was advised by our vet to be cautious for the couple weeks after Miahs vaccination, which i was :) Best ask your vet.
  15. Hi :) I've just had my Miah desexed over a week ago, she had not long turned 6 months old. I wanted to get her done before she had her first heat. Shes a CKCS. Ive always read its the bigger breeds of dogs that should be left to they are a bit older/bigger. This question has been asked quite a few times in the past, I guess it comes down to personal choice, but its good to be informed of the pros and cons too of when to desex ;)
