  1. I give Miah every so often a raw egg, just the yolk with some of the shell mixed in with her meal.. but every so often i also cook up scrambled eggs (using all of the egg) for all 3 of my Cavs, they love it
  2. Thanks Cassie, shes very much part of our lives now, and shes made herself right at home ! Shes forever pouncing on our Ragdoll cat, and altho he gets very upset, he doesn't go and hide from her, just takes it, weird cat Luckily our other cat (Karma) is mostly in her outdoor run, as she would never put up with Miah pouncing her, not that Miah really picks on her anyway when shes inside, Miah knows better than too lol
  3. BTW i'm loving all the new puppy pics in here !! Congrats to all of you who now have your puppies with you at home !
  4. Thanks Sujo! :) I have health issues and every so often i need to take a break for a while. I think i'll need all of this long weekend to catch up on the latest in this thread x
  5. Oh no, sorry to hear this staffyluv we had been going through a similar thing with Renae, but not as serious as what Ziggy has been experiencing.. Renaes liver showed up with some unknown high levels of toxins too, which was very strange. Shes rarely outside to even eat something bad.. We keep thinking it 'may' have been to do with a change of flea treatment, which the vets cant outrule entirely, but they don't think thats the problem.. It does seem strange more dogs are going through similar of late that i keep reading about Hope they get to the bottom of it soon! sending Ziggy my postive healing thoughts x
  6. Hi Everyone :) Sorry ive been MIA of late, will try to catch up in here soon ! Looks like a lot has been going on ! :) Miah was desexed last Friday, was quite a non event actually, was the easiest dog iv'e ever experienced going through it with. The next day she was back to being fully active, as much as i tried to keep her quiet ! She hasn't even been picking/licking her stitches and so i haven't had to get one of those cone things for her head. She's having the stitches out next Tues. Shes now 6 months old! well was a week before she was desexed :) This was Miah last week at the vets in recovery after her op. The clinic took this pic to put on their fb page (they asked me first) so I hope they dont mind i have shared in here also :) I took in her fav puppy toy and one of her blankets :)
  7. Great idea ! altho if you have 2 cavaliers, you might need to do up 2 of them in case they start fighting over it when you not home, especially if one is having food issues .. I always worry tho with leaving treats for dogs unsupervised that they could choke when no one is around to help dislodge the treat if it was too happen.. but then i'm a worry wort
  8. My almost 11 year old Cavalier has been obsessively scratching at food cupboards for a while now (mostly in the evenings), but then shes hasn't been well for a while. Shes damaged a lot of our paint work, luckily they very old cupboards. She had some liver issues a while back and the vet suspected cushings too, but we haven't put her through the tests yet for it. Not keen to put to put her through too many invasive tests.. I have tried various things to solve this problem, but until recently because we have finished it, we had her on some calmative powder which we believe was helping. I think the changes with her health and aging has caused her to have some anxiety problems now. For a younger dog, Id be wanting to check all possible reasons and address them first before resorting to long term anxiety powders/medications..
  9. Id probably get him to use to being in a crate and or a pen like i did with Miah, because you never know when they might need to get used to other options in their lives for whatever reasons :)
  10. Melina Bea, I have chronic health problems and am often bed ridden too Our older 2 cavs sleep on the bed already with me and keep me great company when im not well or in pain. With Miah because she was quite tiny when we got her, we did set up a pen by our room at night for the first about month and half.. Shes now almost 6 months and still small but we have a wooden toy box and another step at the end of our bed they all can get up and off the bed easily with.. She knows to use them to get up and down. Luckily shes a small breed as being a puppy shes all over me still lol but shes quite light. Im not sure with my health issues i could have a heavier type of dog pouncing all over me In the beginning when we first got her, i did nap/rest a fair bit on our couch in the loungeroom rather than on our bed, so she could be close to me still :)
  11. Murphy sounds like a real character lol Must see pics of him ! Re desexing. I have heard with bigger boned breeds its best to wait until they are a bit older, but im not expert on this ! How come the vet said it has to be done asap! I do hope if you don't get it done yet, that he doesn't get to the dog next door. They should have her desexed anyway grrrr (unless they are registered breeders) Im getting Miah done on the 31st of this Month as she will be just over 6 months. Ive spoken to her breeder about this and shes fine at that age her being done (plus its part of the contract to get it done around that time anyway) Joey our older cav who is desexed is starting to take a bit too much interest in her, and visa versa Yes trying to stay warm, has cooled down heaps hasnt it !
  12. i didnt watch that one DTDO, and i no longer watch those shows as Miah will do her morning thing but come back to bed with me easily now for a lie in yayyy !
  13. i remember those mornings moosepup !! i started watching those breakfast morn shows on tv
  14. I remember being in your shoes once everyone ! the last few days/nights are the worse! One more sleep Cassie wohoooo !! Miah's breeder brought Miah to us and i even went out and brought a few purple balloons and stuck them to our front fence for her breeder to find us easily which she did ! I also gave her a cute thank you card when i handed the money over to her in it ;;-) ps; DTDO it does take some time to adjust for the rest of the fur family, even for us humans . Theres a thread in here by Moospup that she was asking for some advice about this :) http://www.dolforums...-resident-dogs/
  15. I feel so lucky reading all these comments that we didn't have to do any of the things you guys have to do to get a permit ! they didn't come out here to look at the property first, or ask our neigbours (that we know anyway) and we didnt have to ask them first either and we didnt have to pay an application fee for it.
  16. the form we got did have clauses on it if they grant you a permit.. but no pre approval from neigbours needed unless you have had complaints made about your dogs in the past (which we haven't):) Mind you there are heaps of dogs around here always on the loose that aren't even registered at all ..
  17. When we first went to meet Miah, all the other puppies cuddled up to us except Miah, she was off doing her own thing ! I thought oh no she doesn't think much of us Of course now shes home here and very settled in, she is bonding beautifully with us both, atho i think she loves everyone she meets anyway lol I want her to bond more with me than hubby, but atm shes being fair with us both equally I get to spend time with her during the days, and hubby gets to spend quality time with her when he comes from work, which i usually need some time out from them all by then anyway
  18. well I must be very lucky where we live ! i cant remember how much ours have been without looking it up. They are due over next couple months.
  19. Oh really lollypup ! We didn't have to pay for an application for ours !
  20. I applied for it a while back but we didn't have to pay anything with Miah until when next lot of rego's are due for our other 2 Cavs, which is coming up soon. I believe puppies under 12 months are free until first year regos. (well here in our council it is) Its yearly here in SA. She will be desexed by then, and shes already been microchipped, so it will be a bit cheaper when we have to pay for her and the other 2 :) If at any stage we go down to 2 dogs, the permit has to be applied for again if we should get another dog.
  21. LOL cute! We had a similar set up when Miah came to live with us, it was set up just outside of our bedroom in our laundry which is straight off our bedroom, so she could see at us at all times. We had a nightlight on too (in the bathroom) which leads into the laundry. She's now progressed onto our bed
  22. Yeah its always a worry when the time comes its partly why Im glad we have Miah in our lives now :) If anyone wants to see any latest pics of Miah, you can check them out in her blog http://julesluvscavs.blogspot.com.au/
