  1. We took our two dogs to a heart specialist clinic yesterday, and I showed the specialist Renae's lump.. He said it 'appeared' to be a type of cyst, he did explain more about it, but he didn't think it is anything to be worried about in his opinion, but to have a needle biopsy done to be on the safe side
  2. Yeah we need to do that ! especially for the times we find a stray dog in our travels !
  3. Merry Christmas to you also Westiemum and your beautiful westies ! Hope to see you all sometime in the new years at one of the future M&G's ! xoxo
  4. Thank you everyone for your fantastic responses and recommendations !!! A couple of them might be too far us to go too, but others are definitely worth considering !! It's great to hear there are some very caring vets around still then !
  5. Hi westimum Thankyou for those recommendations, especially coming from you !!! (as I know how much you love your 2 and would only want the best for them!) I might look into the LittleHampton one first .. Hope you and your gorgeous furbabies are all well?
  6. I love my vet in Gawler but I would say that is too far for you. Can't help with anything closer, sorry. Thank you piper Yes Gawler might be a bit too far for us .. When I lived in Gawler many years ago, I had a good one !
  7. Hi guys We are looking to find another vet to treat our pets. Ours are ok, but they seem to be losing the passion in treating our pets, and with others that we have observed IMO They are handy for us, location wise, especially in an emergency but..... we still would like to find another one.. Would prefer one within Adelaide Hills, but would come down towards the city areas, if one was very highly recommended.. We are looking for a vet that is very caring, very thorough and knows what they are doing, doesn't push yearly vaccinations onto you if not needed ...and not too overly expensive (well more than they have to be IYWIM), and preferably has payment options available in some circumstances. Thanks !
  8. Oh that's mostly great news Carol , what a huge relief ! Hopefully with all the treatment and meds, Jake will be back to his usual playful self real soon ! Jake's got quite a few admirers in the Cav thread ! Gentle hugs to you all xoxo ps.. I've heard some positive stories about acupuncture used on animals ( and magnetic field treatment, which I've had personally been treated for my jaw problems)
  9. Thanks for your response Corvus Poor Penny having to get them all the time... I am glad she's been ok ! It does pay to stay on top of any lumps doesn't it... Wonder what causes them ?
  10. My friend's cat died mysteriously a few days ago, admittedly it was 13 ( but had been in top health till a week ago). The vets are baffled about what caused him to go downhill so fast ! I don't know what my friend had been feeding her cat, and atm It's too sore a point to bring up to her.. The vets are saying the tests have left them baffled, I think they were sending some results of for further investigation, despite the cat didn't make it
  11. Oh thats great Phoebe healed up very well then ! If Renae does end up needing it removed, I will be sure to take your helpful advice , thankyou !
  12. I've been meaning to say something to you about weather it could be that Cavmum1.?.. I have been doing a bit of thinking about Jake since you posted about his symptoms ..
  13. Hi JME A few years ago when Joey was younger, he suddenly went lame, was hopping around and was in a lot of pain. My first thought was it was his patella ! Even the vet thought that at first. He went on to have a series of xrays and medications. In the end after a about a month or so of strict crate rest, he came good !!! He's never had that problem again, thank God ! Yeah vets aren't always that spot on with things..... Hope it's nothing worse, and that it is perhaps something like what Joey had back then .. which was more than likely him being young and running and twisting around too quick at the time.. All the best. Please keep us updated.
  14. Hi BB I vaguely remember you telling that story once in the Cav thread.. Oh how unfortunate that she chewed her dressings, and it swelled and had to have her tail cut off But good that it wasn't anything nasty ! I can imagine her wagging her whole back ! very cute hehe If they aren't nasty then (if found clear by a biopsy), and they don't get in the way.. then would there be any need to actually remove it then? I can't see it being a nuisance on a tail??
  15. Oh I am glad your neighbour's dog is dong well now after having hers removed It's very reassuring to read comments like this
  16. opps sorry IR, didn't see your comment Ok thanks for that, I haven't heard of that before.. I will mention that to the vet. Is Phoebe ok now that it's been removed.. ?
  17. Yeah i will get it tested puggy puggy .. I won't put it off. It will just keep worrying me if I do.. Is your boy ok now?
  18. Hi puggy puggy it still feels hard like when it was smaller, just bigger .. I will get it tested soon.. just to be sure. I'm still paranoid from when my last dog had a lump, and it turned out to be cancer It's along the tail bone.
  19. Thankyou for your response InspectorRex I had it checked out a while ago, and it was nothing then, but it has since grown..
  20. Hi everyone Just wondering is it normal for fatty lumps ( or what every they are called?) on dogs, to increase in size..? If it is normal, should one still get it checked it out ? I've always been under the impression they aren't cancerous?
  21. That's great to hear Tameka, sounds a lot more reassuring now ! All the best with your new puppy ! :D I said a hi to you in your intro post
