  1. Troy (brand name) Behave Paste. Available at most horse type stores like Europa etc...... You know how Zola is at shows Washa - total avoidance of interaction with anyone except me! Well shes like this at obedience classes, the Funday and even walking with my friend and her dogs!!! I finally worked out that she is most probably suffering from Social Anxiety as well as SA ( ) She has only been on it for two days, but I am certain I have noticed a small improvement!! See above post. I also need to do some training with her as well to change her behaviour, and Im sure it will be easier with the paste as well!! Oh, BTW - the RR website is looking Good Rat
  2. There is a thread I started on DOL under Troy behave paste Hey Rubystar - its a vitamin paste for pathetic, anxious doggys who dont like being away from their mummy  ...........Well thats what I use it for anyway Seriously though, its used to treat anxiety in dogs and horses and contains Vit B's, L-tryptophan and Vit E and a couple of other things I think. My silly girl doesnt like going away from home and having to socialise with other dogs and humans and gets very stressed . So Im hoping this will help her in some way! Rat
  3. Hi Marc Im pretty certain that regular exercise for dogs over 12months of age is fine! Lots of jumping and turning probably not so good for a large dog though!! You are one of the lucky ones if you have a ridgy that wants to chase something AND bring it back to you!!!! Most of them will do it once or twice then look at you like youre mad - My current girl loves palying chase with her footy, but wont necessarily return it, but our first girl didnt even have the chase-the-ball gene!! Rat
  4. Great stuff WX!! I "think" Zola is slightly better - wont really know until I take her somewhere where there are other dogs and humans, but I will be waiting for a couple of weeks before I do that to her!! Tonight Im going to add an egg and some olive oil to her dinner, then over the next few days introduce some oats also and see if that improves it any more! Rat
  5. That sucks big time!!!!! Your poor baby! Surely there must be someone you can put a complaint into about it!! They must be running the place under some sort of government guidelines surely??? I understand that the place is for quarantine and not normal kennels, but I still think that because the animals there would be under stress this would be one reason to make it just a little more comfortable for them. Doesnt make sense to keep them is gaol type conditions just because they are under quarantine Our two mustve thought they were in gaol for life yesterday!! We had to got to Perth for the day and didnt get home till 11.30pm ................Poor Zola especially, she is so NOT an outside sleeping dog They were so glad to get inside onto their own warm beds ....And Zola has been on her new "Behave Paste" now for two days, and I definitely think it helped last night!! Well, I think it did! You didnt hear her yodelling in Bunbury did you Wazat?? Rat
  6. Who owns the quarantine station, AQIS????? By the sounds of it they need a huge kick in the butt!! How do they expect dogs and cats (who have come from a "home" environment!) to stay in such a place for however long it is ( ) under such basic conditions!! They would be stressed to say the least!! I would be sending my disgust to AQIS if indeed thats who runs the place!! Poor dogs and cats Anyway.........Ptolomy, your new baby is cute as - better watch out for him going missing ..........Llamas are more cuterer than alpacas - sorry girls :D :D ....especially baby ones!! WX - is that Sandy Y from Bunbury?? I guess I should ring her and ask if they need a hand! Rat
  7. Probably wont get up for another show till the Ridgie show on the 11 Sept, and will stay for the Hound show and the Herding Breeds show on the Sunday!! Then Ill be up again for the Royal on the Tuesday I hope!! I may get up sooner, will have to wait and see what happens! Shame about the Kelpie pup not happening - Im still trying to get my head around having another dog! I really would love another Kelpie, but then I start thinking of all the puppy stuff and my head just about explodes!! How are all your horsies going?? I so dont miss rugging and drying rugs and feeding in the dark and wet thats for sure. But I miss my darling old mare so much - her soft nose, breathing in her horsey smell - you know all the yummy horsey stuff!! Think Ive decided too, to get a pregnant mama Llama so her baby can be imprinted from birth! Now I just have to wait for Llama breeding time Valley - are you talking about the Ob. Trial in Sept in Bunbury?? Rat
  8. You are braver than me, I am having a hard time letting Mason stay at the dermatologist for a day I had a cry on the way to the train station and will probably have one tonight when it hits me he is gone. You poor bugger Valley!!! I know how hard it is to leave a dog at kennels for two weeks, but sending them off would be even harder!! Big hugs for you kiddo!! I bet Toby will be enjoying all the extra attention he will be getting over the coming weeks Emery - Kelari is gorgeous!! Geez, I cant wait til I head north to a show again and get to meet you both! So, in order to decide as to whether its worth making a cake for the 8th at Bunbury I need to know who is seriously gonna be there????? .........Last time I took a cake to a dog show I ended up taking it all home again - dont want to be doing that again! Who will be heading to the Bunbury Trial??????? Rat
  9. Ive been told Mas1981 that the meat can be poisoned from what the camels eat... I can only presume they are immune to 1080 bush they eat in the desert areas, but it is residual in their meat!! Horse meat is not a new pet food product. Already 60-70,000 horses are slaughtered each year in Australia. Leftovers and injured from the racing industry I imagine...Most is exported. It has been on the pet food menu for quite a while. I wont be feeding it to our dogs, nor will I be eating it myself. I dont have a problem with others using it. I just hope like many others, that it is done humanely, and correctly - for the sake of the horses. Could ramble on lots more, but Ill leave it at that Rat
  10. Poor mirawee, it must be heartbreaking to have to let a dog go. So sorry you have to rehome your boy...Is he going somwhere nearby?? I bet that ratbag Banjo is sniggering about it all. Ah, you just wait for the next pup Mr Banjo, Payback is such a b!tch Wow - VCBR, how will you go without him for two whole months ;) !!! I dont think I could cope without either of my girls for that long!! It was bad enough when we went to Thailand last year for two weeks! Rat
  11. hope you have fun at Cannington, i race dogs there (not that successfully) some of mine may be racing when you go. Welcome to the dark side Turf :D Lab_Rats initial post was actually in November last year - so she has been and gone to the greyhounds (and I don't think she ever told us if she did any good betting wise ) However let us know next time you have a dog racing and we might need to organise a DOL meet at the races and cheer them on Would be nice to have a "connection" to a dog that is racing  Wow - that was a blast from the past!!!! I didnt end up going Turf, I think I piked as Im 3 hours from Perth and I couldnt see the point of going to Perth just for a meal and the greyhounds....I still wanna go see the hounds run though, wouldnt know what to bet on though Mirawee ;) ;) Vaders mum - when are your boys second needles due?? Probably not worth the risk as there has been a bit of parvo around this year - wouldnt want your boy to get sick, youll just have to contain your excitement All this talk of puppies is making me clucky for another pup..........Until I start thinking about disturbed sleep, whinging sooky bedtimes and total chaos! Phew, might just sit on it for a while I think and go silly over everyone elses!! Rat
  12. Rat come and watch the obedience in Bunbury in September and meet the kids. Yep the new baby is a 13 week old male toller from Norway called Strauss  Wooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo!! Are you bringing the whole gang??? So who is else is heading down?? Is it worth me making CHOCOLATE CAKE???????? :D Rat
  13. Whew - what a busy few pages!!! And lots of new doggy news too! Mirawee, you are having second thoughts about a baby girl kelpie????? Nooooooooooo........ You have not seen feral till youve seen Zola in action :o I cant understand how she couldve just turned 4 years old. She bahaves like a 12 month old, seriously And I so love the way she barks back at me when Ive told her to do something, bounces around and barks defiantly, just has to have the last say - witch ;) With all this talk of new dogs and pups, I have to admit Ive been visiting the Pug thread I want one soooo much. I adore their little square bodies and happy little faces! Last show I was at, I just happened to walk past a trolley full of them, all jumping and looking cute!! Think I will have to wait for a Pug though. WX - I will get to visit. Soon I hope!! July has been such a shite month for me. Sickness, death and just alround yuckiness - cant wait for August!!!!! Ptolomy - is your new pup another Toller??? They are such great looking dogs! If I didnt mind longish coats I would seriously think about one! Vaders mum - I have done a little showing, a little obedience and lots of watching other people doing stuff :D :D ..........I love the social aspect of showing, probly would like showing more if I had a dog that loved showing . And I wish I had the enthusiasm to get off my butt and do either obedience or agility with my dogs. Oh well, at least Ive got two gorgeous dogs to take bush walking!! Yay - I will get to go and watch the Agility in Bunbury on the 8th August!!! Rat
  14. Hi Vaders mum and welcome!! How exciting, a new baby in the WA thread :D . You realise piccies are a must  ..............Hurry up August Good to see the online show entries seem to be going well! What are the payment options?? Not that Ill be needing to know, just curious. Rat
  15. I was going to get some pastilles (Rescue Remedy) last week, but instead got the spray one! I think Im glad now!! Nothing worse than being anxious AND having the runs!! You poor thing!! I have both Bach Rescue Remedy an Australian Bush Flower Emergency Essence. I have found that for my ridgy girl the Aus Emergency Essence works better than the Rescue Remedy when we have thunderstorms - for some reasons I dont know . Rat
  16. Not sure about WA electric fence/dog laws.....Everywhere rural I have lived for the past 30+ years has had electric fencing surrounding the house fence, on the outside to keep stock out. Our chook pen on our original farm had a hot wire running around the outside about 50cm off the ground to keep foxes out. It worked - on foxes, dogs and children owwwww!!! Where we are now our small paddock that was dual designed for dogs and stock had a hot wire (tape actually) running around the top of the fence. Its not used now though as we dont have horses. I would put it back if I thought I needed it. My last kelpieXBC used to have a knack of jumping through ringlock fences!! She would run at it, jump sideways and glide through the gap in the ringlock...........I couldnt believe it the first time I witnessed it!! Didnt even touch the sides!! Agile little bugger! :D I hope you find a solution to your escapee problem JulesP! Rat
  17. When I first got my girl and started showing her she was still in the breeders name (I had her on breeders terms). I joined with a handler membership. And no, I didnt get a magazine which was a pain, as I also had to fork out for that. But as I remember I didnt have any dramas joining up. Im now a Country Member, bit cheaper than a full normal membership and lots cheaper than a handler membership plus mag subscription. Rat Thats all I want just Handlers membership, I just need to enrol some people to show my dogs, they dont need the mag! Is It just called a handler membership and fees? any ideas? Thanks Sorry about the delay WX, been workin' !!! The handlers fees are on the back page of the K9 mag. Handlers under 18 years or age - $28.20 Handlers over 18 years of age - $38.80 Hope that helps!! Rat

  20. Welcome back Jed Although I dont know you personally Jed, you are a fellow dog and animal owner and lover! So how could I not help out? My conscience would never allow it!! I think about you every day, and send healing vibes for you! Take it easy, and heal well!! Rat
  21. This is an interesting and informing thread. Thanks Xolo for starting it and thanks Aiden for your contribution! I started a thread in the health and feeding section, and got some good answers there about anxiety - my ridgy seems to suffer social anxiety! I will be researching some more to see what I can do for her! Rat

  25. When I received a card after our first ridgy was PTS, I was surprised & bawled my eyes out!! It was the most beautiful thing.....The same vet sent a card after out dear old cat was also PTS. These are both special cards that have been kept and every now and then I will look at them. Last year when we had to have a weanling lamb euthanised I was pleasantly surprised to get a lovely hand written card from a different vet - one used for the bigger animals. Earlier this year we were devastated when we had to have our darling old mare PTS, it was a nightmare to find a vet to come out asap as she was in so much pain. I would go back to this vet in a flash if need be, they were sooooooo compassionate! And yes a few days later we got another beautiful card in the mail for the loss of Sal! It would be so easy for these vets to use a pre printed card and just add their Dear *****, From the Vet - but none of them have. Each card has been filled with caring words that meant something! Rat
