  1. Geez, you lot make me feel like such a slacker............... ........I cant remember the last time I did any real training with my two! I would love to get us all good enough to trial, but I have all these wonderful excuses reasons why I just cant get there!!! I need video coaching, homework and punishment for non-completion :D Little Wandy-pop had her tooth out today, poor little tyke. She was spoilt with turkey mince for dinner.....and spent most of the late arvo sleeping on one of her many beds.....Hopefully she will be back to normal Kelpie activity tomorrow! Shes gonna hate me for the next five days though with having anitbiotics poked down her throat....
  2. Have a wonderful time at your course, J..............Wow, next years not far away is it??? Ill have to head out and buy the doggy mag with your kids in it!! Mirawee, hope your bunch dont have anymore "mishaps" Weird how it goes in waves of animals getting sick/injured.....Hope Varda is feeling alot better soon, silly thing!!
  3. How exciting Emery - I looooove Basenjis!!! I would love to have a whole nest of them, dont quite know if I will ever have any though!!! Have fun handling!! Will the little one be one of Davinas???
  4. Thanks Golden They are a very cute "odd" couple :D My boxer likes to show off around the sibe, and acts like a puppy when he is around He has made her young again (she is 8) I know it's great isn't it? My big Goldie just turned 8 and back into a puppy when the little one came along a few weeks back :D lab rat - no good! Hope you feel better soon!! Go hug your dogs, they are the best medicine! Yep - the kids have been looking after me, especially Nurse Wandy :D .....Shes such a little looker-afterer....However, Ill be looking after her next week...Shes off to have her canine out on Tuesday............which Im panicking about!!!!!! Ive decided to have her blood tested before and have fluids through the op - just for her benefit, so she has all the opportunity to feel good when she wakes up!! :p
  5. Good on you Mirawee for showing another group - must feel a bit alien!! I threatened Zola that Id put her in the Wanneroo show as they have a neuter class :D .....she wasnt very impressed! So I guess we wont be going! Well Ive had a shite week, apart from heading off to the Bunbury show last Sunday and catching up with my two favourite hairless dogs and their lovely owner!! Wednesday morning I woke up with another itchy swelling eye, so off to the doctor I went!!!! Infection, anti-biotics........Thursday morning, 4.30 am, up for work...............NOT :p My eye was swollen shut, so I went back to bed feeling absolutely crap....Another appointment, another doctor Allergic reaction this diagnosis....Antihistamines and Steroids - Yummy!!!! So anyway, after two days of steroids and a/hist eye is down and almost normal, but a bit baggy and rough skinned .....Wont be taking anymore steroids though!! Good God - not nice drugs at all, and I now know what my poor sister goes through as she is on them for her entire life!!! Think I may go and have some allergy tests as both times this has happened out of the blue with no apparent cause........And its UGLY :D Anyway, Im feeling much better today, still a bit buzzy from 'roids, but Im sure that will wear off over the day, I hope! All the puppy pics are gorgeous - I would so love one each of a Bully, staffy and lab and pretty much any pup poked in my face! They are all just so damn cute!! No pups here for a while though............Not until the 4 year old RR grows up
  6. I think Ptolomy was the favourite for this, pretty much everyone agreed. Maybe you could PM her for her details (and don't take no for an answer! ) Yep.............I second Ptolomy! Bling collars are toooooooo pretty!!!! Not the sort of thing my two would wear around the farm - 'specially the Kelpie! :D
  7. Which is the latest K9 mag??? As in what date and whos on the cover?? The latest one I can find is the July/August with Dalmatian on front!!!
  8. Perhaps you should be the "receiver" of said pressie/pressies - then you can forward it or divide it up to whoever is deemed CleanRun DOLer addict ........ Hope to see you and you two in Sunday WX, hope also to meet Tumbleweed and her dog, and any other DOLers that are there Sunday!?!?!? So who will be there Sunday?????
  9. Not only do we have one KFC at Hay Park - there is a second one on the other side of town...... :p How will we know which one is you in the kitchen TW, or will there only be you???? I may head in on Sunday.....depending on how much sleep I get after ns.
  10. Like Rach said...........................You guys talk toooooo much!!! I do however enjoy reading everyones posts - everyone is so into their thing!!! Flyball.................. We had it in Bunbury for a short time about 10 years ago I think!! It was awesome!!! Wouldve been awesome-er if the ridgy of the day hadve been more cooperative with ball return ..Watching the BCs get into it was so great - and speed!!! What I really loved was that I could actually teach my ridgy to jump on the box to release the ball!! A small feat!
  11. Thanks Ozjen - its been a while since Ive been to a bunbury show, couldnt quite remember how long they usually run for! WX - I hope to get there Sunday arvo, maybe even lunchtime-ish........New job, hey!! Excellent!
  12. J - you going to be at the bunbury shows on the weekend???
  13. Hey guys - about the Bunbury show on the weekend.......................How long are they likely to run??? Im working Saturday night, but would really like to check out the show on Sunday.....What time do you reckon it will finish??
  14. I never watch TT, but after seeing the ad I had to watch the story tonight about "Perths Crazy Dogs"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF?????????????????????? A dog................An Aussie Cattle dog - living inappropriately in suburbia - probably not exercised and the owners wondering why the poor thing was behaving as it was............... I remember now why I hate that show!!!!!
  15. Poor Ruby!!! I hope shes feeling a bit better today!! Doesnt sound like a snakebite - our ridgy had that experience the summer before last :D Almost sounds like a really bad muscle strain that affected her abdomen as well!! I hope the vet can shed some light!
  16. That is so gorgeous Tatelina - have no idea what the song is about though!!! Spent all my time watching those cute dogs!
  17. Thanks Mirawee! I hope your mare hurries up and has her baby!! My one and only experience with foaling was about 15years ago! Missed the whole bloody thing! The mare was nice and ready, waxed up and all that, kept going out and checking on her. She had the damn thing between half hourly checks!! Not impressed.....But at least all went well and there were no dramas whatsoever! It is so windy down here! Hope it settles down later as we want to do some raking and burning!! Wind isnt hot though which is nice! I hope it cools down for the Obedience!!!
  18. Thanks for that Mas - I quite forgot that sweet potato works too!! I found some ABs in the fridge, the same that Zola was on, but dont think Ill tempt fate by giving any to Wandy!! She usually gets over things pretty quick! Poor little love
  19. Sheesh you lot can talk!! I think Ive read about 6 pages to catch up!! First request - can you please all stop talking about Cleanrun...............I am determined NOT to go back to their site and buy lots of things I dont need............. Second request - no more cute-as-a-button puppy pictures please. I, like a few others her am getting extremely puppy-clucky but cannot at this time have a puppster!! Thankyou........ Well after a week of Ridgeback Gastro, we now have Kelpie Gastro.....Yay!!! The only difference is Zola asks to go out - Wandy doesnt Thankfully though Ive been on nightshift, so havent had to clean up any mess... ;) :D The rug on the dining floor is getting nice and clean though!! Second wash in a week this morning.... Poor kids - I like the way they get it a week after each other, every time!! Zola had ABs with hers, but given its a weekend in the sticks, poor Wandy will just have to make do with pumpkin and Peptosyl, which she loves.................not! We have had two bobtails visiting this week, and trying to dig a hole to who knows where right outside the front sliding door, much to Zolas disgust!! Hilarious dog, she is soooooo interested in the bobbies - let her out and she is just fascinated, follows them and jumps every time they move towards her!! I dont mind her having a "controlled look", wouldnt trust what she would she do if I want there though!!
  20. I have only seen a couple of Caesars programs, from very early on. So I cant really comment on seeing his methods or many of them. I do know his "Tssssst" works well on my b.i.ls little smarty pants dog!! Puts him where he is supposed to be without any fuss. I have read his books which I have enjoyed. I like and agree with his philosophy of Exercise, Discipline and Affection (although its not always followed that way in our house :D ). I like his idea of being a Calm-Assertive Leader (again, not always followed in this house )....But we do try! To me there should be two parts to Caesars work & shows. The preventative training with the use of his philosophies, and the "remedies" that should only be "administered by a professional".........or at least by someone that knows dogs and knows what the hell they are doing!! Of the shows of his I have seen, he makes the things he does look very easy, but then so does any trainer that has worked with lots of dogs for a long time that is a Natural!! My dogs breeder is another example - he is a calm, assertive leader and has no troubles working with and gaining the respect of the dogs he works with. I wish it came to me that easy..... ;)
  21. Mirawee - you will be getting another Kelpie!!!!!!! Well Im glad my two cant read - by now they would be sulking that theyre not getting "cool coats".................But as the dont actually DO ANYTHING, they wont be getting one!! They can just stay inside in the cool! And when you all decide when and where youre going to gather for a Christmas windup feast - post it on here. I may head up for it!!
  22. :D I think this is perhaps something only females can laugh at???? These stories have had me in tears!! We had a similar thing happen years ago, my sisters dog and mine raided the bin and yes, ripped apart used tampons - much to my OH total disgust!!! My sister and I pissed ouselves laughing the entire time we cleaned up.............He just couldnt see the funny side of for some reason. Skitch - Im so glad our episode didnt happen in front of visitors, that would have mortifyingly funny ;) edited to make sense!
  23. Wow - Im utterly amazed that people would do this!! I have had two bitches on Breeders terms................Neither came to fruition for different reasons. However, this decision was made be both the breeder and myself with no dramas on either side. The contract was dissolved and the dogs became our long term pets. I was/am the trusted custodian of these dogs, and had I had any problems with the dog my first port of call was the breeder!!! Which happened quite a few times with the second bitch... :) Im sorry youve had such bad, bad experiences inez! I truly cant understand that people would do this!! Dont these guys have any respect?
  24. I have nothing useful to add KTB, other than good luck with your search for your next Kelpie!!! They sure are a great breed! Having dealt now with ridgies and kelpies, I would have to say that for me, Kelpies are far easier... ;) Our Red & Tan bitch is from working lines, has plenty of instinct - but not the frenzied kind that you sometimes see in a Kelpie that doesnt work stock. Shes not obsessed with any of her toys or games either, Im glad to say...For a pet that lives on five acres she is a well balanced girl!! Keep us posted about how you get on :p
