  1. At the sydney pet and animal expo last weekend they had a toy poodle and a toy poodle X JRT doing agility and they were great about it. Any breed can enter just as long as your dog is motivated and you're willing to put the hard work in. Also the dogs are grouped by size so they arent disadvantaged when it comes to competing.
  2. Thats so sad...must be very hard for you. RIP little ones
  3. Thanks heaps should give it a read I know how smart boxers are. Humphrey was great with the drop command. It was only a few months after he learnt it that he started doing it of his own free will. Boxers are a bit different to train compared to other dogs I think, they are cunning and playful and very intelligent (no matter how dopey they look).
  4. on a good note dont have a problem with Taz farting...he's an outside dog. rugerfly where abouts is the North Richmond All Pets Pantry? Address wise, might check it out with the OH.
  5. Hey guys Ok Humphrey is going good stopped chewing things inside house, somewhat listens (as good as most boxers would). Heres the problem thats becomming increasingly common. When someone goes outside, he gets really hyped up and as soon as you step on the grass he wants to play. He jumps up on people and sort of play bites hands etc. When he was younger he never did this. He'll run around all crazy and hyper and then jump on you. Now this is really bad considering he's 30kgs and still growing. He doesnt really jump up face to face. He will jump up on your back sorta thing when you try to walk away. He also starts barking if you tell him "NO!" or "ah ah" or tell him to sit. He gets plenty of exercise. We'll also start agility soon but not sure when. Hopefully that would help. Any idea what would be causing this behaviour or how to stop it?
  6. now thats a few very good leaps she's done Hey FD were the scratches worth it???
  7. thanks guys. Might see what deal my pet supply shop does with supercoat. I know our boxer does alrighty with it. (little bugger getting spoiled and going on eagle pack soon!!!)
  8. Hey everyone I'm looking for names of dry food that are pretty good but not expensive. Its for my parents place only use kibble now and again as a snack by itself or occasionally mix it with meat and veg for his food. Our mutts diet is pretty good so dont need the complete diet dry food that the premium stuff offer. Also what dry food do you guys advise others to stay away from???
  9. this was an older photo, he was ready to leave the nest in next few days. Not sure whats going on...I'm so upset right now ;) This was one of the babies i was going to keep now he's gone. I'm praying that no other babies die. Losing the flock of zebras was bad enough but this makes things so much more worse. arby
  10. i've been told to wait for the 3rd vaccination to.
  11. indeed you just have to be careful and keep a look out on how your dogs react to it. Some people just completely stay away from it. Others give it in small amounts or watered down. Frankly I've never had problems with little milk and other dairy in a dogs diet.
  12. just put it through a blender!!!! ;) we get that raw chicken roll...its basically a whole chicken bones and all put through a mincer. Very healthy since you get the calcium and protein and all that
  13. sugar although you are right with the egg whites, eggs are safe when they are given whole. The egg yolk counteracts the egg whites. All dairy products can be beneficial if included in a good balanced diet. We've fed our dogs cottage cheese, yoghurt etc with no problems at all. Some of these dogs have lived to 14 years (this includes my grandmas daschund!!!)
  14. onions or any part of the onion family can be potentially deadly to them, raw potatoes are really bad for them too... diarrhea could be caused if you fed your pup meat that really full of nutrients...things like lamb and pork and liver can be a bit too rich and sometime upset the stomach
  15. raw potato and onions really bad for dogs... any starchy food need to be really cooked or else the dogs wont digest it
  16. nothing makes a boxers tongue dry...they just drool on everything
  17. no one in my family...thats 3 generations of dog owners/ breeders/ exhibitors have ever used a dry only food or a canned food diet. We've always had the mix of BARF and dry...always stuck to the most natural diet possible. We only feed our dogs canned food in emergencies. Anyways congrats on getting the little bugger better!!!
  18. i'm sowie the tongue is all friendly he'd like you do death...he just came back from doing happy laps around the back yard hence the tongue hanging out.
  19. OMG! that's a long tongue!!! cute dog though its pretty bad when he decides to give people puppy kisses!!!

    Puppy Outside

i have a lab X, when we first got him he was inside, he was a rescue, at around 8 months of age or just a bit older when he got too big for being inside we put him outside. We had a big cage thingy out the back (came with our rented property) it was around 1.5m X 3m. We made him a kennel and put it in there. At night we locked him up in there so he wouldnt get out etc. It was like one massive crate!!! over time he got used to it and it was his little safe spot. It got to the stage that he would run to it and fall asleep inside before we even came out to lock him up!!!
  21. did some one say tongue??? this is humphrey at rest
  22. now children settle down...i think everyone is getting confused lol... but definately i have no idea what we'd do without you K9!!! the NILIF ideas work great. When Humphrey is being naughty and trying to get in the house we just ignore him until he stops scratching at the door. Then we make him sit and stay for a at least half a minute. If he doesnt stay we make him sit and wait longer. Keep doing this until we're happy that he's settled and is listening to us. Then we taugh him an "enter" command and he's learnt not to come in until he hears that. Well he's learning. He definately is submissive to myself and the boyfriend. He's occasionally dominant over my boyfriends parents and one of our friends. Everyone else in my boyfriends family he basically walks over. We keep telling them what to do but they just wont listen to common sense.
  23. also make good use of the kids...give them a towel and tell them to wipe!!! nothing better to do that then kids...they dont get freaked out with anything. Humphrey our boxer doesnt drool as much because now he likes to lay down on the floor of the car with his face in the aircon!!!
  24. vitamin C....Ester C powder is the best for that from what i've heard. Its a bit on the expensive side but worth it. You can get it from most health food stores...some chemist. Its important to give a non acidic vitamin C.
  25. with they way some of these dogs look it sure makes you think twice about saying "that dog looks like a mop"....they look as if they've been used as one
