Have you tried PAW (Pure Animal Wellbeing) Gentle Ear Cleaner? Our vet put us onto it, we found it did a good job of getting rid of junk. And someone from the poodle thread just recommened it too. Hmm, don't think I've tried that one, MM. Will give it a shot, thanks

huskyheaven, I have been feeding my Sibe chicken wings since he was a pup (so for more than 6 years) and I've never had a problem, he chews them before eating In fact I gave him a couple tonight with some sardines and he really enjoys them

I found putting Daisy on a BARF diet helped her ear infections but they still smell a bit yeasty sometimes. sorry to highjack but I was wondering what everyone recommends for a good general cleaning solution?

The dogs will eat vegies on their own sometimes, but won't touch offal! I don't use pet mince as the dogs get enough bones throughout the week, I use low quality beef mince as it's got a good fat content. And the chicken frame mince I've bought before has always been really gross ETA: I gave Daisy a piece of chicken liver the other day, and I thought she had eaten it - I walked into the lounge room a little while later and she had dropped it next to the lounge

I had the same problem with Daisy, after two days of forcing herself to eat them she just stopped and refused them... and this was a beagle!
-
Oops, just to clarify, my dogs only get the slops I make a few days a week, as well as eating bones for their second meal, again I only do it to feed them their vegies and offal.
-
I make up BARF "patties" which is just a slop with mince meat and lots of vegies, offal etc - it's the only way I can get the dogs to eat their offal!

What are you looking for in a dog, Humbolt? What sort of size, coat type, exercise needs etc? How much training are you wanting to do with it? Are you after a puppy or older dog? Will it be home alone often? There are loads of breeds to chose from

I understand that for marathon runners, sometimes it does.

I know it's a bit of a childish thing to laugh about but I get a giggle every time it happens, hehe.

Dry Dog Food- The Good, The Bad & The Ugly..

Artemis has a grain free range and I think Eagle Pack Holistic might be too (but I could be wrong). -
I agree with Gareth, try a bit of raw meat like chicken wings or necks and even some beef mince. You can try mixing in some natural yoghurt and sardines into his dried food, I am yet to meet a dog who doesn't go wild for sardines! Maybe try a super premium brand of dried food like Eagle Pack Holistic or Artemis?

I agree with going with your instinct and if this dog feels like the right 'fit' for your family. I am sure the issues she has with being shy (sounds like she could be a bit fearful) can be resolved or managed with the right training. It is whether or not you are willing to take a dog on that might have some behaviourial problems or whether you want to start from 'scratch' with a puppy - although puppy training comes with it's own difficulties!

Probably not quite what they are looking for "I got this really awesome dog pro from Melbourne to come up and teach us how to put nose plugs on our scent hounds" You know you want to Midol

If you think it might work...

Going to the Beagle Club lurecoursing day is always lots of fun, Daisy did really well on her puppy run and then on the second 'adult' run, ran with a naughty boy beagle and they stopped to have a game in the middle of the field. And of course you get a few that stop to do poos in the middle of the course too, hehe.

Everything! Uh, that's probably not very helpful  I think we'd have to ask the Brisbane people what they would be most interested in learning about, I am happy to learn about anything. Handling naughty scent hounds would be a plus I'll just tell Midol what we want and he can do the leg work... right Midol?
-
I would say sure but realistically I have no idea what that would involve I bet Midol would do it  Would love to have you up here for a training workshop Erny!

I am so sorry to hear this Bellatrix, your post had me in tears Run free little Lucy

What? You don't believe me? ETA: Stand me next to K9 Force and I appear as very quiet by comparison . :) I think you and K9 Force should come to Brisbane and prove that in person

My butcher sells a tray of chicken wing tips for 50 cents - they are small and I use them to feed Cherry or my cat. It is the only type of bone the cat will actually eat all of! You could try cutting the tip of the chicken wing off and giving him that as a small piece to try. What if you skipped his dinner and tried feeding him bone for brekky? I'm not sure about the teeth thing sorry - I've never had an adult dog who wouldn't eat bones.

The Barf Diet That I Prepare For My Stafford..
huski replied to Aussie Stafford's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Laeral, I put celery, broccoli and sometimes alfalfa into my BARF slops. -
6 months tomorrow, Huski. Ah ok. Sometimes I've seen pups who are not that interested in bones but as they grow their interest increases with their ability to eat them. Have you tried feeding him a chicken neck or wing as his only meal for the day?
