  1. Not all breeders put their head in the sand, responsible breeders here in Australia and overseas do and are health testing, and have done for a number of years now you can't tar everyone with the same brush 'Rain '..... Im not taring everyone with the same brush, it is a shame that hardly any breeders in oz are health testing, i didnt say none were, not many are at all. Sorry Rain, its just that when you have a rare breed and the some of the supposed 'experts' in the breed openly state that they dont health test because there is no need, the "there is nothing wrong with my dog" attitude, it makes me annoyed and frustrated, I also have Border Collies and we not only hip & elbow score we also DNA test for hereditary diseases, such as TNS, CEA, CL, not only is it the ethical thing to do its also the moral thing to do for the breed. its not a matter of finding out if anything is wrong, its making sure we dont create or worsen a problem if there is one .
  2. yes I know what you mean EF, So many people I have spoken to wont change anything until they are officially made too, ;)

  4. being on a number of committees and member of a few western region clubs and having spoken to numerous local show secretaries and people who do catalogues, they have all said they have had no official notification of the name change :D and some expressed annoyance of how much of a pain it will be to change Databases etc, they say they wont be changing anything until they do get official notification, ;)
  5. thanks guys, I just dont like being rude to people, have told them NO they wouldnt be getting first pick, and that there are a number of people who are already on a list, I sort of got the feeling they are the types that if the puppy didnt come with a 100% guarantee that is was a BIS/WORKING/AGILITY champion etc they would whinge form here to eternity, so I think I will just give them the line, litter hasnt been plannned / confirmed and give them someone else names
  6. I have had several enquiries for BC's pups over the last few weeks, most have been great lovely people etc, when I explain that we wont be having another litter until probably next year, ( we have only had 2 litters in the last 5 years) what the conditions of the sale are, and when we have a confirmed litter it will be advertised on my website, etc, but I have this one couple who have come back again and again with an email, telling me they want pick of litter, which dogs on my website will be used for the litter and when can they get one, blah blah blah, are they long coated?? do they actually work??? when I said yes they are long coated BC's and yes they can work two from my last litter are out on very large working sheep/cattle properties and doing very well, I know this cause one is local and will be trialling this year and I catch up with her owners everynow and then, lol. but not every dog will turn out to be good working dogs, just as not every puppy will turn out to be a good show dog, agility etc etc, :D maybe I am just too polite sometimes, do I keep replying to their emails?, or do I just ignore them, I mean we often see on here people complaining that breeders never get back to them and then come on here and other places and bag breeders in general. its just so annoying.........

  10. Why ??? Rozzie is there a problem ??
  11. My black Russian gets called a Labradoodle on a regular basis, lol, so much so now that my smart alec friends tell people at shows thats what she is, and yes they can be shown... rofl ;) or she has been called a hairy/unstripped giant schnauzer or a bouvier schnauzer cross....and this is by other dog show people ;)
  12. Its been a a requirement in NSW for a few years now that to hold a dog handlers security licence you had to do a recognised course and then apply to have it added to your security Licence otherwise you couldnt use dogs at work. not a bad idea if it got the cowboys out of the industry, trouble is if you have the money to get the required insurances and training anybody can apply.
  13. Woo Hoo Congratulations !! :cha mpagne: its lovely feeling when a judge takes the time to really look at a rare breed isnt it, and even better when they put them up !!
  14. I wont take a bitch in season to a show, not only does it upset my boys, but friends boys and other dogs at the the show, I get very annoyed when there is a girl in season around at a show, my older boys have learnt to ignore it by age and experience, but when you have a young dog still learning the ropes its such a pain when you cant get their heads up off the ground or they are really distracted by a girl somewhere on the grounds !! surely you can miss a show or two ?? I know a few Judges that hate it when bitches in season are in the ring ! not just the mess, but also the disruption it can cause to the males that they have examine afterwards. How do they cope at Horse shows Kelpies Rule ??? well the males competing in the hacking rings are geldings and most people dont take mares in season to shows because they act like such absolute cows its not worth the effort most of the time, and the stallions are only in the breed rings usually led, sometimes under saddle but not in the hacking rings.
  15. Will Blayney be back in 2012 does anyone know ??? or will it suffer the same sad fate as a lot of our other Western Region shows ?? :D
  16. pink silver mesh walls Poomother ???? oh Ijust have to get some of those !!!!!!
  17. Have entered the CCCQ Virtual dog show, this is a great initiative by the organisers, gives everyone a grest way to show their support !
  18. All the ones I have met including my girl live happily with other breeds she is by no means dominant with the other dogs she is nearly 3 and until recently was the youngest dog here, and ruled over by our 6 BC's, and the two pet JRT's who rule the whole household, lol as long as they are well socialised etc outside the home as well, there shouldnt be a problem. she happily plays with friends dogs at shows she knows, aussie shepherds, newfies etc. dont know about cats as we dont own cats. :D and yes they can be crate trained, my girl is only ever in her 48 inch crate at dog shows, when at home she lives in the house with us never in a run or crate.
  19. Come on out to the Western Region NSW, we may not have huge shows or international judges, but we always have fun, enjoy each others company, and there will always be someone to give you a hand if you need it
  20. look up "Adequate Maturity" DOGSNSW have a list I assume DOGSSA have the same it depends on what class the breed falls into Toy breeds have a different requirement to Giant breeds and so on, and also some breeds have manditory health testing before being allowed at stud.
  21. I entered via ozentries, Didnt get my numbers either, I cant go unforunately due to work, but I have a 3 freinds who entered via post and havent had their cheques cashed, so they will be ringing the secretary tonight to see if she has recieved their entries.
  22. I am still learning how to trim for shows, I have wonderful advice from my girls breeder, and and amazing lessons from friends and Judges here in Australia, it makes it hard when I have only ever seen, handled or helped groom 5 BRT's in Australia, and my girl is 99% of the time the only BRT being shown in NSW, her breeder lives in QLD, so most of my grooming tips are via emails, lol with only a couple of actually hands on lessons in 3 years It also doesnt help when judges have differring opinions on what they think is correct coat, some think they should be groomed like a poodle, some left with a long coat to the point of being shaggy, I even had a judge only a month ago say when she looked at my girl for a minute when we walked in ," so whats the go with the white hairs??" its a bit of a battle, lol,
  23. I would love to become a dog judge one day down the track, the hardest thing is its a 4 hour drive to Sydney from here, so getting to enough breed lectures during the week, with work and having to stays overnight, would be a big problem, I have always wanted to do Working, Utility and Terriers, the logistics of getting to Lectures and exams are for me the biggest hurdle and so many friends up here are in the same boat,
