  1. Yup! Zac (Irish Wolfhound) is "only" 77kg. But then I still get people telling me that their Mother's, Cousin's, Uncle's best mate had one that was much bigger. Like others have said I think there are some people out there that just have to have the biggest badest [insert breed here]
  2. Hi Lilli, Must have missed this. Glad you like the site. I try to keep it simple and easy to read. :) Thanks for the positive feed back.
  3. I'm curious as to why you would want to import a Papillon when there are 79 Australian breeders listed on DOL? Would importing a dog give you anything that is not already in Australia? Given the risks and difficulties involved in importing a dog I was just wondering why you would go down that path before considering one of the many breeders in Aus.

  5. Get someone to video you and your dog in the ring. Works much better that having someone tell you what you and your dog look like in the ring. If you don't have a video camera most smart phones can take good enough quality video these days. :)
  6. You can now buy silver shade roofs for gazebos. Have only seen them for the normal size gazebos not pavilions. http://www.catonam.com.au/p_shademeshgallery.php
  7. Along the same lines Where does the Irish Wolfhound originate and what did it do? Where does the Scottish Deerhound originate and what did it do? And yes I have been asked this about Zac. :)
  8. Funny story about obedience, black dogs and hot temps. My black Afghan took himself off to the shade in the middle of the down stay in a trial. The Judge and lined all the dogs up in the sun, he decided it was too hot in the sun and slowly got up, moved to the shade and resumed the stay. Perfectly sensible in my mind not so the judge.
  9. Irish Wolfhound anything above 25C Afghan Hound 27 - 28C Strangely enough same equipment as SSM :)

  13. thank you Zeebie, its still exciting for me when people go ... thats a X dog or try the name, I am very happy when people know what it is, the saying part just takes practice, we say Show Lo ( Xolo) so far a well known Judge and canberaa lady has the best pronunciation ( its not right and very rude) she even somehow managed to get the Sydney Royal Show people to say it in the loud speaker last year! I had to dubb my video! And because of this lady I have this name stuck in my head. I just hope if I am ever Stewarding and I have to call them I get it right and don't accidentally use the rude version! LOL
  14. For those on Facebook that haven't seen these two groups set up by Tom Couchman; Australian Dog Show Results https://www.facebook.com/groups/285146951602383/ Australian Dog Show Breed Entry Numbers https://www.facebook.com/groups/447806795264957/
  15. I know Raz, it's the critical flaw in my cunning plan. I can understand people wanting to pat Zac, though. Look at that soft face! Yup - and he is just a big soft doofus who loves it when people come up to pat him. The good thing is now he is tall enough that most kids can't try to pat his head so they have to rub his chest instead.
  16. What a brilliant idea, I can see a big rise in dog owners wearing their own t-shirts with answers, that suit their dogs. Runs off to buy some plain t-shirts & clothing markers. Cafepress is your friend.
  17. I know Raz, it's the critical flaw in my cunning plan.
  18. I solved the problem of people asking the same questions about my Wolfhound by making my own t-Shirts
  19. Try White Rose Boarding Kennels. http://www.whiteroseboardingkennels.com/
  20. I wonder what would happen if you whacked an 'in training' harness on them or similar  Even if there in a harness it doesnt seem to make a difference. My cousin is legally blind and has a guide dog. It shocks me the amount of times people will try and pat the dog or try and feed her or let there kids run up to the dog. Most times they will just go up without even asking and my cousin cant even see them so has no idea whats happening. She tries and not goes out in public without my uncle now becuase of this. This is sad. The idea of guide dogs is to provide independence, yet b/c of ignorance/stupidity on behalf of some members of the public, it seems that your cousin is actually loosing her independence.
  21. For a Royal it is very relaxed. Basically it is a big Ag Show. :) It is run just like a normal show. You don't have to stay all day, no benching of dogs etc. There is separate parking for dog show exhibitors reasonably close to the grounds - depends which ring you are in. :) Dedicated entry for dog show exhibitors so you don't need to fight your way through the General Public. Only thing is you can not leave Gazebos set up over night if you are there multiple days. Highly recommend it.
  22. Russian Toy or Russkiy Toy? Diva has no inter web connectivity at home but asked me to confirm if anyone got it. So yup! Russian toy. :)
  23. Yup! :) This is why I drive from Yass in NSW to Brisbane for the Afghan Specialty. Takes me a lot longer but I feel so much better. Plus I get a longer holiday. LOL
  24. I'm wondering what my status as a parent/non-parent has to do with dogs and euthanasia.
